This is the worst shooting game I have ever played.

This is not an exiting action game with tons of unique missions and an interestiong story. This game has no story and the missons are boring (...). An example of a mission is you have 1:00 to kill ten bad-guys. You can only pick up one gun at a time. When you pick up a new gun you automatically drop your old one. Thier are only 5 kinds of guns in the game. The graphic look like a cartoon and when someone is shot they just flash and dissapear.
The game is short and easy and will take about 45 minutes to beat. It has 40 levles but most levles have 20 second time limits and no levles give you more than a minute to beate it. This is an aweful game dont even ret it

This game [stinks].

Do not buy. It is a waste of money. It is so boring and repetitive. I played it once for ten minutes and never played again, it was so bad. A complete waste of a good CD. It is not at all like Golden Eye if you are wondering. I hope this saves you [amt].

Fun and Challenging missions??? Nope.

I got this game because i read a lot of reviews and most of them said it was a good game. when i first played the Novice missions, it took about 10-15 minutes to complete all 15. and the missions were just basic training. When i got into the level 2 missions they were basically the same. the boards are just 1 room which is no fun. i bought this game thinking it would be some what similar to Goldeneye 007 for N64. I was wrong. the controls are very difficult to use. the D-pad makes you move. the Analog stick moves your aim. the L and R trigger turn you and the L and R on the D-pad make you side step. Very confusing in controlls. I would highly recommend renting this game, if you even want to take that chance. The 2-4 player games are just the same you can play on teams but since the board you are on is so small, 2-4 players is no fun. Not a good game to add to your collection.

Don't fall in

This game absolutely stinks.the repetitive gameplay is annoying.every mission is basically the same dang thing.you can only use 3 wepons really and The missions are exactly the same as training mode.Go spend your dinero somewhere else, like Quake III or unreal tournament. You shouldn't have to pay for this piece of munkey dodo!

oh please...

Ok when i first saw this game i thought it would be pretty cool...but it's not (at least in my opinion). To start with the good stuff the graphics r pretty good and the weapons are animated nicely. thats just bout it. The single player missions arent even real missions its like a huge boot-camp. all you have to do is shoot peeps and collect stupid coins. so basically the whole game is intended for multiplayer. but since the multiplayer has only two diffrent scenarios (compare to Perfect dark which has like 15). So even if you play 2 player it gets boring pretty fast. the controls are the weirdest i have ever seen in a game but luckily you can change them to a semi-okay setting. Personally i think that if your not going to go online you shouldn't buy this game. It just doesnt have enough stuff that you can do in single player (i beat all single player missions on every difficulty in one afternoon).

I was expecting something a lot better.

Well, let me just tell you what I think. The game is garbage.

When I first put the game in the console, I got so excited that I was going to play a fps for dreamcast. When the game started, I chose to go with the training missions first. But later, I began to get a little upset because they were incredibly easy. 15 minutes later, I chose to go with the regular combat missions. But what really blew my top was that the combat missions were just like the training missions. The first mission objective was to collect three coins.....the coins were in a straight line right in front of you. I didnt fire one bullet.
The day after I bought it with my hard earned dollars, I wanted to return it, but I could't because I broke the seal. DAMN!!!

Over all, I give Outtrigger a two star rating because of the multiplayer option, however, you only can carry three weapons and you die incredibly fast, bairly giving you any action or reaction time. Its almost like a one hit kill game. (Don't try to run from a guy with a flamethrower.)
Also, the arenas are so small, you can't hide or even think about what to plan against an opponent.

Don't make the same mistake I did and buy the game just by looking at screenshots.

I didn't like it.

This game has pretty good graphics but the gameplay sucks. It is so hard to aim because you have to use the D-pad and the joystick at the same time in order to aim while moving. They should of made it like Golden Eye (james bond) where you move with the joystick and you hold down a trigger to aim. The missions are just going around shooting people then collecting a coin after you kill them. And the arenas are tiny. If you like little Deathmatch games with the most annoying aimer I would suggest it. But if you have a nintendo stick to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

Fair, really overall dissapointing.

When I read articles about this game I couldn't believe it. People calling it the 007 for dreamcast with online options. I bought it the same day I bought Soldier of Fortune (A great way better game) and had real high hopes for this game. I was truly disappointed. Let me point out why: 1st: cruddy controls - This game is really made for the keyboard, but I really hate laying the keyboard down on my lap and trying to work everything when I want to sit comfortably. D1 proved to be the best control setting of them all for me. 2nd: Single player LACKS BIG TIME! - When you see the words single player missions, things like Duke Nukem 3D, DooM, and Golden Eye come to mind. Games that include sneaking past bad guys, finding keys, and wasting rounds of ammo blowing away bad guys. This is not true for Outrigger. The "Missions" are things like Collect 30 medals in 2 minuets and Destroy 4 terrorist in 5 minuets. Some of these missions are really hard and can tick you off beyond belief. I spent hours sweating over certain missions and throwing my controller down and cursing. Its really no fun for just one player. Even with 2 or 3 it becomes just another Deathmatch game, which isn't bad but gets boring fast. After you beat the game and the last mission with the two heavily armed terrorist your left with the question "What's next?" and it is quickly answered with the credits. I don't play this game much now, but I love to use the Enemies Bat and go around slugging people with it just to see how many kills I can get with a bat. 3rd: No Violence - Sure you shoot people, but there is no blood! I don't know maybe its me and the fact I bought Soldier of Fortune with this game, but its not entertaining. In SoF you blow peoples legs and arms off! Peoples heads cave in and organs fall out! But none of this appears in Outrigger. The only thing close is bodies catch on fire with the flame thrower, but then again its done 100% better in SoF, which adds screaming and realistic fire! With a T rating I kinda figured I was going to be let down. While it is a waste of money, it does have some good points. The elevator music soundtrack is something new. Going around blowing people up to calm relaxing music is a new to me and I really enjoyed it. Anyway avoid it unless you MUST get the game. Get Soldier of Fortune, a REAL 1st person shooter or save money for food.

Outrigger's like Quake dummied down for the arcade it's got many of the thrills offered by your average first person shooter.{fps},just simplified. As a single player experience i had fun with the challenges in mission mode, and there are a few other cool surprises{ricocheting shots and the ability to see through walls in particular},but the gameplay and especially the tiny levels are so straightforward i grew tired of them after a few hours. If you're looking for a split screen or online deathmatch DC game,Outrigger is a distant third in my book{behind Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament},but that doesn't mean it's bad, just for more casual FPS fans.

Disappointed by the controls and small areans...

First let me say that OutTrigger is a fun game if you like multi-player battles. Its a multi-player game ONLY. I say that because the single player missions are NON-existant. You are given a number of annoying tasks to accomplish and they mostly suck. The single player modes are basically training for Online or multi-player battles.

What saves this game is 1) the cool graphics 2) the multi-player. Although the multi-player games are FUN it is sort of hampered by the small size of the areas. Don't look for a Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear maps or a Quake maps...these are small. If those two games have maps the size of a city block then this game has the maps of the size of two houses (if so big). The option to play a multi-player battle with 3cpu opponents is a nice option but can't compare to the real thing with your friends.

The arcade feel of the game makes it easy to pick up and play but even that is hindered by the bad control presets. The best option is D1 but even that is sort of awkard. People recommend the mouse and keyboard but since I don't have a mouse I can't comment on that type of control.

Overall the game is worthy of any Dreamcast collection because of the fun multi-player mode ONLY.
