I have all three Myst Trilogy games working perfectly under Windows XP Pro (SP2) OS on my PC. It has an Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 video card with 256 mb RAM, which is recommended by Ubisoft for this product.

If you have the time to immerse yourself in a 40-60 hour puzzle, these are the games for you. Great graphics, wonderful puzzles. Not for the dim-witted....

This game is really cool!!

Myst is a wonderful game full of puzzles, fun, and it takes a LOT of brain power. I enjoyed playing Myst, although for children, I would recommend adult help (some puzzles are REALLY tricky) I would say though, that this game probably shouldn't be played by children under 12. Again, very tricky. There is a little bit of a kind of spooky atmosphere (not terribly spooky), but kids might not like it. Myst is a big puzzle. There are no directions, you're just dropped on an island, all alone. You have to find special books that take you to different islands, and at every island, lies more and more puzzles. I think this game is best played in a group or with a friend. Together you can use your different skills to solve the puzzles.
I would recommend this Myst Trilogy pack to anyone that enjoyed the game, or is interested. Also, the price is wonderful. If you like puzzles, thinking, and teamwork, buy this Myst Trilogy pack!

I've read some reviews from people that say they got it to run on XP. How? I have run the compatibility wizard--more like a compatibility trickster--and it still doesn't work. What I've SEEN of it is excellent (artistry is stunning; plot, so far, is great), but it quits when I get to the part where the player goes to another age. I loaded it onto the dinosaur of a computer that has Windows 98 on it, and it worked, except the computer is so ancient it's too slow to keep the graphics up with the sound and it gets stuck.
Somebody help me? If you've got a suggestion (a solution would be nice), pleeeeease e-mail me at: sindar_gloriel@mailpuppy.com And this is the new version of the original Myst, if that makes any sense. I looked for patches--couldn't find any. I've heard some horror stories about tech support from UBI software, too.

I love all three games in this series. I had no problem running Myst and Riven with Windows XP on my computer. However, there is a bit of a problem with Exile in that it will repeatedly crash in certain areas. I uninstalled and reinstalled it; making sure to backup my saved games. It is a pain, though. From what I understand, this isn't exclusively an XP problem.

Doesn't work with Win NT, Win2000, or XP

No one told me before I bought this that none of the Myst programs work with any modern Windows operating system.

The magic of the ages of Myst

I don't have these games in this trilogy package, I own the three individual games. Instead of 3 seperate reviews I thought I would combine them. I began with Myst the first of the series. I was blown away by the graphics. Although Myst was developed and marketed years ago, it is still by far the most visually intoxicating game even to date. The sequels, Riven and Myst Exile are of equal caliber. These games are so beautiful that it easy to move about the environments simply for the sheer beauty of it all. Beyond that is the puzzle solving. These are not shoot em' up games, there are clues that you can document along the way (you are supplied with a journal) that when solved provide you doorways to the next puzzle solutions. There is no time limit so you can relax and take your time. Some puzzles are easier than others, for example the most difficult age I experienced was the natural age in Myst Exile. There are a lot of online communities for these games that can help you if you get stuck. The developers have succeeded in creating their own otherworldly scenes that is all their own. It's hard to describe how amazing the visual trip is, it is such a marvel of realistic escapism that you often think of the game when you are not playing it. These environments are places that I would really want to visit! A must must have, top priority game for adventurers. It will become a staple of your collection. No game or set of game compares.

5 stars, but one small problem

i went and looked at this locally to buy for a friend whom i have been trying to get into games, as i already have all three. on reading the systems requirements, i found myst didnt work on mac, which means it is necessary to buy realmyst in addition. this adds greatly to the cost, like double, but what else is new for mac.

no matter. in my opinion, these are three of the best pieces of software ever published, especially riven. although it is an old game, the scenery in riven is absolutely outstanding. some say its a slide show, but if this bothers you, think of it as an action game with an extremely slow frame rate. characters are few and far between, but the acting of the unctuous gehn is very convincing. the real achievement of these games, though, is the quality of the puzzles. although exile falls a little short, riven and myst have not been equalled, especially the former, where 5 islands and 3 "ages" are integrated into two main and several ancillary puzzles. getting through this without help leaves one with a sense of accomplishment, as, with respect to these puzzles, the quality of logic is not strained. overall, i think that riven is a work of art. my only gripe is the constant shuffling of the five discs, which gets to be annoying but of minor consequence. none of these games carries an inventory or has "hot spots". one actually has to figure things out; no applying inventory by trial and error and no hints from the cursor.

these three games are the apotheosis (gold standard) of "adventure". every computer owner should have them.
