What can I say, the Ghost Recon series has come to represent the military simulation genre on the Xbox. I have been enjoying the single player portion of the game and have not played the multiplayer portion so I will only review the single player portion. You have a nice number of large levels that offer multiple paths to complete the mission goals as required per level. The graphics are top notch and easily looks better than any previous Ghost Recon games on any console. I will say that there is a little "America's Army" feel in this game. There is a easy to manage tutorial level to learn the basic moves and also fire the different types of weapons available in the game. There are two levels of difficulty, Normal and Hard to choose from. The Normal level provides a nice amount of difficulty for beginners or those a little rusty from playing the previous Ghost Recon games. This expansion pack is greatly refined from previous games and the "realism" touch is nicely expanded on here. For the price of $30.00, you simply can't find a better military genre game available on the Xbox.

The weapons have a nice "feel" to them and seem to respond with accurate physics. This is a true "one shot one kill" as you can be felled with a single well placed shot. The wonderful camera rifle makes a great return as well. There are several play modes where you deploy with your four man fireteam or play Lone Wolf and set thru missions on your own. While playing Lone Wolf there are support teams that while they are off camera will feed you a steady amount of information as you progress thru the mission. This again adds to the touch of realism available.

I can honestly say that you just can't go wrong with this game. It is nicely priced, has a great single player and while I haven't played on Live yet, previous experience with the Ghost Recon games would lead me to believe that this one will rock as well. You won't regret buying this game, just make sure that you have a good amount of time available after you open the box because you will be hooked from the start.

Since Viper reviewed the Single Player, let me give a brief review on the multiplayer, and first off let me just say that the multiplayer is 10X better than the standard GR2 multiplayer. There's now roughly 20+ new maps for Squad based games. All of which are a far improvement than GR2. The only disappointment was to see the so called "Classic maps from GR2." I'm not sure who selected these maps, but as much as I played GR2, and know people who play it also, the only really good carry over map is Ghost Village. Where's Quarry (which had to of been the most popular map I played on)? Where's Peninsula? Where's the good old Sand Mine? But I guess beggers shouldn't be choosers...

The Look and game play are exactly the same as GR2. And for those who are wondering, YES you can still play in 3rd person. There is a new feature in the set up. If you play "no explosives," the Lone wolf's are automatically turned on. I've yet to try all the new weapons so I won't even try to comment on them but I will comment on some of the best maps so far, and they would have to be:
Red River, Aral Sea, Launch Facility, and Government District, and definitely try Bunker Hill Redux. This map is so dark, you can barely see anything, even with your night vision on!! But with all the goods come the bad's...MOST of the same old Lag, and same old Red X appears but not as often. And one more Good / Bad thing (depending on how good you and your team are). A few of the maps have spawns that are really close to your enemies.

Overall Summit Strike will definitely hold everyone over for the new GR coming for the 360. If you are a fan, you can not afford to pass this game up...If you are a fan and can't afford the game, trade in your copy of Gaylo 2 and it should cover the cost of Summit Strike. Even if you're skeptical about the GR series, rent this one and I bet you'll become a fan.

This game is just plain awesome. The graphics are the best I've seen on an Xbox, teh single player missions are awesome, and you can play against the computer through Xbox LIVE or up to 4 players split screen - which is great for me and my roommates.

I had trouble loading it at first (got a red-X error), but all you have to do is boot it with the controllers pulled out. Then it loads perfectly. Its better than most $50 games and its only $30!!!

An excellent recovery from Ghost Recon 2, this game (although its very hard...) brings back the feel of the old Ghost Recon and supports split screen play which is very nice for those of us who don't have an extra xbox and tv laying around or broadband for xbox live...

Ok, first off let me get one thing straight: I am not a kid. I am 15 years old.
Ok, this game is one of my all time favorite games. It has outstanding graphics, music, and gameplay. The single player campaign is fun and challenging, and allows you to go back and play a level that you have already beaten a second time on a different mode besides Campaign. The game features OVER 60 different weapons (such as the SCAR-L carbine, SCAR-H rifle, AK-47 assault rifle, MSG-90 sniper rifle, M-16, etc). The gameplay is really realistic in it's "one shot kill". This means that you are capable of taking out an opponent with a single shot to the head. However, this works both ways, meaning that if your opponent is able to get a head shot on you, you are dead regardless of how much health you have left over. I found this made the game very fun, and required you to use your mind just as much as your gun. However, more straightfoward gamers may find themselves frustrated with this aspect of the game, especially Halo or Battlefront gamers who love dual wielding SMGs. The game requires just as much stealth as it does any other aspect. The Multiplayer is fun, especially on Cooperative, which is EXTREMELY hard. The fun thing on co-op is that it allows four players to work as a team to complete campaign missions. The Versus isn't that great if you have less than four people, because of the massive size of most of the maps (you spend most of your time looking for each other on the map), though on Xbox Live with 16 players i'm sure it is quite fun.

The game is in Third and (optionally) First Person (except on multiplayer, where it is always on First Person). One fun thing is the realism of how the weapons work. In GR2:SS, most of the weapons have various different modes of fire (single, burst, and auto, although burst is rare on most weapons), which allows the player to be able to shoot accurately on single shot or to lay down a hail of bullet on auto (it should be noted that full automatic fire drains you magazine in a matter of seconds).

I found GR2:SS to be an extremely fun and very challenging game, but I would not reccommend it to people who prefer a more Halo, Doom, or Grand Theft Auto style of play.

A must have.

Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike is a must have game for the xbox. This game is Difficult, thanks to some of the best A.I. programmed to date!

Fan's of the original games in the Ghost Recon series will be somewhat disappointed at the game play changes, i.e. you now only have a single team of ghosts and you can no longer jump between any team members.

Cooperative multiplayer is where this game really shines. The A.I. has been done so well that even a full squad of real thinking humans will have difficulty completing many of the missions.

This entry to the Ghost Recon catalog is a fine addition and is a must play for all the Ghost Recon fan's as well as anyone with an xbox that enjoys a very well made challenging game.

I have been playing Ghost Recon since the 1st one came out, they have gotten better every time, up until the Advanced warfighter game for the original Xbox. Summit Strike is awesome, it's the best game that there is for Xbox, if you like first shooter military style games

Created as a stand alone expansion for Ghost Recon 2, Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike, is crammed full of high quality content that will surely satisfy fans of Ghost Recon 2, as well as newcomers to the Ghost Recon series.

Game play in SS is essentially identical to that found in Ghost Recon 2. For those who found the changes to GR2 disappointing you may find this better if you have adjusted at all. For those who are new to the Ghost Recon series, Summit Strike is essentially an tactical outdoor military shooter set in the near future. It can be played in either a 3rd or 1st person perspective which is quite a nice option.

The single player campaign guides you through 11 missions based in Kazakhstan. The levels are vast and you can tackle the objectives in any order you choose. This gives the missions an open-endedness that I find very liberating. There's a nice diversity of environments, ranging from snowy mountains to cities to deserts. The weather effects like sandstorms, rain, and falling snow are all very well done. Most of the missions will have you leading a four man squad, but there are a few where you are alone (but are equipped with better weapons and equipment). The campaign can get pretty tough at times, but luckily you can save at any point in the mission. You can also replay single player missions in different modes, including Helo-Hunt, where you must survive against waves of enemy helicopters. Overall the campaign is highly enjoyable and superior to the linear and shallow one that was used in Ghost Recon 2.

Xbox LIVE multiplayer is arguably the best aspect of the game. There are 24 unique and interesting multiplayer modes, and approximately two dozen maps. All the levels from the single player campaign are available as maps in multiplayer, and there are also some fan favorites back from Ghost Recon 2. The maps are diverse and come in all different sizes. There are also various co-op modes, but I haven't tried those yet. The tactical shooter game play works especially well on live. In order to survive online you must have a keen eye, good aim, and be able to proceed with caution and under cover. In team games you have to use communicate and cover each other's back. All of these elements come together to form a fantastic addition to the GR series.

I played the original Ghost Recon online over and over and held off purchasing any newer version until last week. I do like the graphics which are terrific, however, it seems like total control has been taken away. The missions are difficult which is nice dont want them to be easy but i really liked being able to handpick my group and outfit them with weapons and gear not so in this version. Its an ok game, however, where it really shines is Xbox Live this game is outstanding and if your an online gamer get this game its worth every penny.

this game is definitely worth (...)which is what its listed at in toys r us, but it is still not a classic like it could have been if the action came quicker.

Online play is great and is the first game that i really got into clans in, but its single player is only ok, with slow action and really dumb combat with vehicles where you have to order someone to "Attack Vehicle"

If you have live i recomend this game, however if you dont, rent it first.
