I had mixed expectations of this game at first... I was really excited about it because it's one of the few multiplayer games on PS3, but then after reading some bad reviews I was a little apprehensive about buying it. It turns out to be not as great as I expected before I read the reviews (the huge emphasis on co-op play is overrated), but also not as bad as some people described. I played this game with my bf in split screen mode, and we never tried single player, so this review is based on co-op mode with 2 people.

Graphics: Pretty good as long as you have an HDTV and HDMI cable for the system. If not, then it's not so great.

Camera: The camera controls took some getting use to, but once you get use to it they're bearable. I had some trouble with the camera while doing co-op stuff like using riot shield and back to back (but maybe that's just me).

Shooting: The shooting (many people complained that it is nearly useless) is actually not as bad as I expected. It's just that the enemy will keep taking cover and sometimes take blind shots at you, resulting in you not being able to kill him in a few shots.

People who complained a lot of the gameplay and shooting probably played it in single player and had trouble working with the AI. I drew all the aggro while my bf sniped, and when he had the aggro I could aim without being shot at. If you strategize and actually aim you can take enemies down with a few shots assuming you've been upgrading your weapons, but some guys will definitely run up shooting at you and force you to melee.

Co-op stuff: This part of the game is a really good idea, but hugely overrated by the developers...
-There are riot shields, but sometimes I don't bother because when facing a lot of enemies it will break under heavy gunfire and leave you in the middle of the room.

-Back to back shooting isn't something you have a choice in... you can't do it anytime you want, you can only do it when the story allows you to.

-You can step jump your partner up a high wall, etc. but only in certain spots where the option pops up (think the top of that trailer makes a sweet sniping spot? o wait, you can't), and the option usually only pops up when it's part of the story to move onto the next area.

-One really nice co-op feature is the first aid. When your partner goes down you can drag him to safety while he shoots at people, then heal him.

-Weapon swapping.... the only time we ever used this was in the beginning when we had the same guns and he ran out of sniper bullets, but then once we bought new weapons we never used it ever again.

Customization: Again, I think highly overrated.
-You can't customize your armor, only your face mask. There are only 3 different types of body armor that automatically gets upgraded as the game goes on, but none of them really match the different face masks and there is no option to change colors or anything...

-Gun customization is pretty fun, but limited. When I read about the gun customization, I was thinking you can pick your favorite gun and put some insane grenade launcher-type upgrades on it, but some of the guns only have one or two options (sometimes not even improving performance, just appearance).

-You also couldn't see what you can customize on each gun until after you buy it, leading to some "nooo why did I buy that" moments. I just didn't really feel the urge to spend a lot of money on guns that suck compared to the one I was using after I got the most powerful one with the most ammo and accuracy.

-I will admit that being able to "pimp" the guns out was awesome because it increases your aggro (and looks pimp) and I was the bait most of the time :P.

Misc. stuff:
-All the ammo looks the same! The good thing is that the bullets are only specific to they type of gun (primary, secondary, or special weapon) since you can choose from so many different ones. The bad thing is that you sometimes need a certain type of ammo while all your other ammo is full and you pick it up thinking it's the one you need and it's not. Then your partner gets bummed out cuz it's the type of ammo that he needed.

-There are some "Heavy" foes that won't go down with gunfire from the front, so you have to pull aggro and have someone sneak around back and shoot him. These guys were the most fun, especially after I got a rocket launcher for my special weapon and blew him up with one shot from the front :). makes me giggle hehe.

Overall we had fun playing this game, but would never replay it. As a matter of fact, after we beat this game once we traded it in at Gamestop for $22. So bottom line is don't buy it, rent it.

A friend and I have always enjoyed the great first person shooters, espcially in a co-op play. Since I have the PS3 he came over and we looked for a game to buy or rent. Army of Two was our choice. We tried to rent it and nearly got out of the store with an Xbox 360 version. Then we headed to Gamestop and found it used. $50.00 latter we are playing the best co-op game for the PS3 thus far!

Check your GPS by clicking on select and it will help you find your way if you get lost. Wait to buy upgrades until you have over 40,000. Stocks and barell add-ons are great. Pimping my guns though, give me a break, what a waste!!!

A Sixaxis controller should be truned on in options to help improve your game play while skydiving. Makes it much easier, but it is senstive. Carfull not to slam in the wall too much.

I cant't wait for AOT part 2 comes out. Love the game.

I waited a long time inorder to really give a good review but not even worth my typing to do so. This game is not a bummer or great, it is average. It is so hard to play games like COD4 and Uncharted, then turn back to games like Army of Two. This game sits in the middle as far as graphics, sound and overall quality. There is no point going into great detail just to give you the same conclusion: AVERAGE. By all means please rent this game or buy at a super discount if you just want to add to your collection.

short game

this game is awesome and the graphics are great but the game is absolutly way too short. Im not a hard core gamer, so when i can beat a game in a couple of days, something is wrong there. i just cant believe they expect us to pay 60 bucks on something that only lasts for a couple of days. the games is awesome like i said but it could be the best game that is out there and still not worth it if there is no challenge. the story line was very much like a movie and that is what kept me going through out the game but at the end i didnt even kill clide or dawlton the computer did it in a automatic screen play. That pissed me off cuz if i want to play a game that usually means that i want to beat it too. it ended like a bad movie to me. i paid 30 bucks for this game so im not too mad, but i would never pay full price for it, it is just not worth the money to me.

Looks like a lot of fun... can be difficult at first

If you like a bit of a challenge this is for you. I bought it for my boyfriend; he plays it with my son and have a ball! They get to be partners in Army of Two... and from what I hear if you play on one player it has excellent A.I.- predicts what you will do and feels like you have a friend playing it with you. When you first start there's "training".... without that it would be really hard because there are so many moves and button combos to learn, but definately a great buy!

Controls are a disaster

The controls on this game are terrible, and there are no options to reassign the buttons. game play is just annoying when you can accurately control your character or your aim. I bought this game to play co-op and it is ok for that but really annoying to work your way through the level the agro is just a dumb idea....

An Awesome Game

First,I am Glad that I bought Army of Two. In Army of Two, you will be,fighting back to back, ripping off car doors to use as bullet shields, watching as the ocean quickly swallows an aircraft carrier...while you're on it,fighting your way through a hurricane flooded airport and oh so much more.Army of Two is a co-op based game, meaning that you will always be playing with an A.I. partner if you are not playing with a friend.Controlling your A.I. partner is done by using the D-Pad,instructing your partner to drag you out of enemy fire and heal you,or which way to steer the parachute while you snipe enemies below. The gameplay relies heavily on Two Man tactics as the title implies, this is best demonstrated by the use of the AGGRO METER,which turns red as you lay down fire on your enemies making you the center of attention and making your partner invisible and able to flank the enemy. The game locks in at about 6 to 7 hours for the average player. As you progress through the game you will earn loads of cash, which can be used to buy and upgrade weapons in the 4 different weapons categories such as: Primary weapons,Secondary weapons,Gear and ect.Weapons can be upgraded with bullet shields, silencers, larger magazines, stocks and an interesting appearance option called "PIMPED" which turns the weapons Solid Gold or Silver and is available for all weapons. The Sound and Graphics are absolutely top notch, rivaling the best games on the New Gen systems.Mulitplayer modes will have you and a friend fighting against hordes of enemies for the highest score, along with the standard deathmatch and ect.The game also has a very Gears of War esque feel to it,with the shooting, movement, and cover mechanincs almost identical to Gears of War,enabling Ps3 owners to enjoy a similar Third Person experience as thier xbox bretheren. All in all, Army of Two is an excellent game to play with/without friends and I hope that you enjoy the game.
