just flying a plane

So I am not a fan of the 6ax controller but here we have the option of the antalog. Other PS3 games dont give that up. The story is ture and worthy of its record. This game is frustrating as it gets towards the end nevertheless it is by far "The Best Game I Have Ever Played" for any system. Worth just turning it on and blowing things out of the sky.

Blazing Angels is a lot of fun

My son and I are having a blast playing with each other and against. Easy to learn for the most part and to earn new combat situations. So far, the missions have been relatively easy but I know that the harder ones are coming up. Great game.

great game!

If you have a ps3 and a computer, buy this game for the ps3 instead of the computer. The game (and my plane) crashed on my computer. When I bought the game for my ps3, I was very impressed with the gameplay and the extra missions that only come on the ps3 verison of the game. If you don't have a ps3, one, i don't know why you are looking at this review, and two, don't buy the game for computer. If you want to play the game, play it on xbox360 or ps3, but don't buy the computer verison!

Not an Ace Combat - missing planes

The controls are very good (4 options) and use the motion sensitive feature if you turn it on. Some missions are very frustrating, enough that I put the game away for a week or so.

I play on a standard TV (S-video) and the defintion is great, I also use the optical audio much better than the RCA Red/White.

The P-38 is absent, too bad. The game play while fun is missing something, can't really say what, just if you're an Ace Combat fan - this ain't it. I know it's not jets but that's not the problem.

If I had it to do over again, I'd probably wait for it to go on sale or wait for the PS3 Ace Combat (hopefully).

OK, but

i found the sixaxis rather numb for this game. it is very easy to overcorrect due to lag from controller/game(?. i did improve somewhat with practice but the end result is still not very satisfactory. since i am not one of the dedicated thumbolinas who live to do fine motor movements with their thumbs on consoles, i really had hoped the sixaxis would be implemented well but this is an older game and the sixaxis functionality had to be programmed in recently, i suspect. i am looking forward to Warhawk and B.A.II - which hopefully were written to take full advantage of sixaxis.

After 15 min of playing the game it all becoms kind of repeating and even boring. More over the game is not using fully PS3 hardware so I would rate grpahic rather poor...

Could have been much better.

I got this game with the hope that this would be a showcase of the new PS3 controller. However it was sloppy at first and the graphics could have been much better. I was not impressed with this game. I would rent it first before you buy it.

Decent game --- poor combat simulator

First the good news --- the graphics are excellent, both the planes and the ground scenery, probably the best yet on a PS3 in 1080i or 1080p.

The bad news (for me) was that it's not a combat flight simulator like I'm used to (Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2 and 3, Pacific Air War, Forgotten Battles, etc.). There is no opportunity to fly the planes except on a mission, so you can't get proficient in flying them. Flight modeling is definitely arcade style like flying a Star Wars fighter. Even the artificial intelligence planes such as wingmen and enemy do things that are aerodynamically impossible. There is no ballistics in gunnery such as bullet drop, so aiming is directly at the erratically-moving targets. Only a few of the cockpit gauges are functional, though the views are good.

The net result is that for gamers, it's pretty good entertainment. For pilots and flight simmers it will be a big disappointment, especially for the [...]list price.

This is a GAME to play

This is the first game I bought for the PS3. Although I am not impressed with the graphics, they are not bad. The feature with the new controler where you turn it to control the planes was a neat idea, but I find it way too hard. The actual game play is very fun. Taking off and landing is very simple and flighing is not hard either. You do not need any flight training to play this game as opposed to others I have tried.

If you are looking for a flight game to play and have fun this is a great choice. If you are looking for a simulator or advanced fighter game, this is not a good choice.

This is one game that I'm glad we brought and received on time for Christmas. My son truly enjoys playing this PS3 game.
