I bought this game because it is compatible with the DDR dance pad. I use PS2 DDR game and dance pad on my PS3. It works perfect. But to use with this game, the game only can pick up the step hit from the left side but nothing from the right side. Don't consider buying this game if you use PS3.Dancing With The Stars

I didn't like the game at all. the moves you have to follow to score are very awkward and the music isn't very good either. I didn't like the set up at all. Not a fun game.

When it comes to reality shows, none has seen the heaviest light than Dancing With The Stars. The ABC smash has really proven to light up the floors. But, there is such a feeling of disbelief, when a successful show has to become a video game. That high make it become an easy low, after the dissapointing feel reality shows turned to video games like American Idol and Survivor. That is sad, because the feeling of the game doesn't excite people to make their moves well. Now, that has shown as Dancing With The Stars makes it debut for the video game market, and on the Nintendo Wii, and to tell you the truth, this isn't worth saving the last dance for.
Dancing With The Stars for the Nintendo Wii, takes on the ABC reality dance competeition into a spinning train wreck. The Activision company, which has delivered well with musical success with Guitar Hero, fails to win over gamers. The gameplay works just like the show, as you play with previous contestants like past winners Emmit Smith, or fan favorites like Saved By The Bell actor Mario Lopez, with the dancers like Cheryl Burke, as you dance your way towards the judges hearts. The graphics fare well, but the gameplay doesn't actually shine here, unlike Dance Dance Revolution which worked well with the dance pad, here you don't actually have as much movement as you do with the Wii remote, unlike the Playstation 2 edition, which delivers better by actually making you dance to your hearts content. You can perform flair moves by simple use of the Wii controller, but it doesn't show that it shines well to gamers young and old.
All in all, Dancing With The Stars is a great reality show, but it sadly misses the mark as really great music game. You're better off with Guitar Hero III instead for the Wii, as a game that really rocks on. I also hope the next time a reality show makes it way into being a video game, it doesn't feel like it is lesser of a game, than the actual show like this one shows.

It was amusing at first but then it became boring and unapealling very quickly. I was really disapointed with this game it is all hand gestures for one which if you are a dancer makes no sense trying to translate foot placement to your hands. This would have been much better to have been designed as a DDR(Dance Dance Revolution) style game.
Also the graphics are terrible!
We've already traded it in.
not what I expected

I wasn't really sure what to expect from the game, but I watch the show and I am a big fan, so I thought it might be fun. It is a little harder than I expected and most of it is done with the remotes and arrows in the direction you are supposed to move. I thought maybe the dance pad would be a part of how to play and also you are so focused on the arrows, you can't even see the dancers move. It is ok, just not what I thought it would be.
Buyers remorse....

I am new to the whole game system world.. but I know fun when I see it... or in this case, play it. I love my Wii...but I am having serious buyers remorse after buying Dancing with the Stars. I was looking for a way to have fun and learn the Mambo, samba etc... The most you do on this game is move your hands up and down or back and forth. The rest of the time it is hand eye coordination only... I am already over this game.
Would be better with a Dance Pad

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if there was a half star.
I bought this game because I wanted a change from the sports game that came with my Wii. Plus I wanted a game with some dance music. This delivered both. We played with this over the Christmas holidays and my 40 year old son who doesn't usually like to dance ended up dancing with with this game which surprised me and he did very well (which didn't surprise me--he is my son!!!). It is a fun game and gets you moving most of the upper part of your body (with some arm waving and some twisting) you can end up using your feet even if there isn't anything on the Wii screen that follows your feet. It mimics the real TV show with ratings from the judges (1-10 just like on TV). I think the addition of a dance pad would really make this game a lot more fun and if it had that I would give it 4 1/2 stars. It WILL get you off the couch.

We got a Wii not long ago and my mom wanted something she would enjoy playing. We are also fans of the show, so it was nearly inevitable that we would buy this. While the lack of a dance-pad is disappointing, the hand-eye coordination can get really tricky as you progress. It is surprisingly easy to unlock all the couples, which I have a complaint in that there aren't enough to play. You can choose whether you want to be the guy or girl dancer and they each have different step sequences. I haven't tried Pro level yet, so maybe that will be enough of a challenge to satiate me.
The faults in this game are the poor graphics and renderings of the judges and dancers. They look NOTHING like the real individuals! Bruno should sue, as they made him look like a over-tanned goblin with saggy skin. I can't believe they accepted that design. Ashley DeGrosso and Maxsim so far look the best, everyone else is hardly recognizable.
The load time to listen to the judge's comments and scores is frustratingly slow (I always skip) and their commentary is very, very limited. The dancer move about the flow with all the grace of a posable Barbie doll, with elbows that apparently are locked in a bent position. The twinkly outfits, however, look great and downright real at some moments. This is why the developers probably put so much emphasis on your hand-eye coordination so you won't have time to watch the dancing. Also the dance plays the same whether you hit every move at the perfect time or miss it entirely.
While this may seem like there are a lot of cons to the game, it's really quite fun (especially on two-player mode) and many of the dance sequences are a lot of fun to play (like the advanced Tangos and Jives). I recommend it for anyone looking for a great family-oriented game or someone who likes hand-eye challenges. My mom and I have a blast playing this together.

Its a fun game. Not much movement needed. You can sit on the couch and do everything. But it is fun.
