Very disappointing. Like walking through a story.

I have played every Nancy Drew PC game and have enjoyed them all (some more than others). I was looking forward to this release from the time I heard about it and even pre-ordered a copy before it came out to make sure I got one.
It really is like simply following a story. When you walk into an area, everything you need to check out already has magnifying glasses on it. All exits are already marked with symbols. To "solve" things, like getting a character to talk or opening a locked door, you just have to play some very simplistic mini-games. Everything was much too easy and the game can be finished in just one day.
It would have been a much better game if they had made it a little harder. You should have to look around to find the things you need in a room. You should have choices of where to go, not automatically be sent to the next thing you need to do.
Maybe it would be a good choice for a young child, but if you enjoyed the Nancy Drew PC games and are expecting something similar, don't waste your money. Or at least wait to find a used copy because they should be available in stores within another day or two.

Might be ok for kids

Like the previous reviewer, I'm hooked on the Nancy Drew PC games and pre-ordered this one. There is no challenge to this game at all, you walk through rooms and everything that you are supposed to see is highlighted. The mini games that you play to make characters more willing to talk are extremely easy. It might be an ok game for a child, but if you're an adult and want something that even remotely resembles the Her Interactive PC games, don't waste your money on this.

This game sux.

It's bad. If you want to play a fun DS detective game, get Touch Detective. With this game, it's hard to manuever around - you have to use the + keys, not the touch screen; it's mostly reading - not much sleuthing; the games are easy - like 5-year-old easy; everything is highlighted the minute you walk into a room. The touch screen is hardly used! The PC Nancy Drew games are fun. This one is a dud and a waste of money. I pre-ordered hoping it would be good. Blech.

Sadly lacking

I've been a Nancy Drew fan since I was a small girl. I've enjoyed playing all the other titles for the PC and enjoyed playing the one that came out in GBA form. I was really looking forward to this game with hopes and expectations that they had done an even better job than they did with the GBA game. Sadly, I was let truly let down due to their lack of use of the touch screen (which for a game like this would have been great), and lack of a good sleuth challenge (even my teenager says it didn't challenge). I hope that if they create more Nancy Drew titles for the DS they do a better job. But for a small beginner like my niece (age 9) it was fun for her (even when we had to read some of the bigger words for her). Maybe they should find a way to get some of their PC titles to DS format for those of us who truly enjoy Nancy Drew.

HATED IT

I Purchased this game and I wish I hhadn't It is soooo easy and when the mystery is solved thats it. I even wrote to the maker of the game to ask if this was a joke and maybe there was some kind of hidden games, they never responded. now i know why. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! DON'T BUY THIS GAME

I'm a huge fan of Nancy Drew and wanted so badly to love this game. Alas, it was not meant to be. By the time I figured out some of the mini-games, (which you can beat by randomly banging on buttons) Nancy is solving the mystery and its over.

The dialogue screens become really boring with the same image flashing over and over again.

The one thing I found fabulous with this game, was that Nancy, in not so many words, told her boyfriend she wasn't giving up solving mysteries to dote and spend all of her time with him... I had to laugh... the original Nancy Drew from the 30's packed her dad's revolver, they kept that same spunk by letting the boyfriend know it wasn't always about him.

Not Exactly What I Expected

I was really interested in a mystery type game with Nancy Drew in it, especially since I grew up on the Nancy Drew mystery books.

I guess I expected too much from this game ... like more real clues and more "sleuthing."

After fiddling around with the repetitive "games" for several hours, I decided to save the game and shut it down and couldn't find any way to save it. Most games like this have a "save" feature. The "manual" wasn't any help, either.

A couple of days later, I got back to it and it wanted to start all over again from the beginning....ugh! I haven't touched it since. I figure I'll trade it in at "Game Stop" next time I pass there.

It wasn't what I had hoped for, but children might find it more entertaining.

I'd love to see some good mind boggling mysteries, with, perhaps, Hercule Poirot or Sherlock Holmes? Even this Nancy Drew one would have been terrific if more thought had been put into it.

Apparently, it was designed for kids and not adults. Oh well. I guess I suckered in for the Nancy Drew name and the interesting picture on the box.

Very little to do - Games Plays it's self

I play the Nacy drew PC games and thought the DS games would be just as fun. They are, at least this one isn't. It felt like the game was playing its self.

Fun but short

My 10-year-old daughter absolutely loved this game, but she finished it in a day and a half.

This game is fun. Its very easy so it can be finished quickly with no problems. If you are looking for a challenge this is not the game for you. I'm not sure if it is even possible to lose at this game.
