After playing for 20 hours, I was surprised how much fun this game turned out to be. I found the "Internet themed" plot line very appealing. With loads of hidden "easter eggs" throughout this game, the curious gamer could play for hours.
Pros:
1) Dual screens are used effectively with touchpad controls that are easy to press.
2) Excellent tutorial and battle dialog help the player learn quickly.
3) 2D Graphics are sharp with emphasis placed on information display.
4) A mature title with no glitches in gameplay or battle mode.
5) Game can be controlled with the keypad, no need to use the touchpad.
Cons:
1) Game seems like it has a little to much useless character dialog.
2) This game is just an updated remake of earlier titles, but a great buy for a player new to this Megaman genre.

I haven't played any of the Battle Network games since Battle Network 2 (My personal favorite out of the series..), but Battle Network 5 was a very fun experience; It wasn't as fun as BN 2, but it was fun nonetheless.
Double Team is the Team Protoman & Team Colonel games put together as one DS game, and they play exactly like their GBA counterparts. I also like the use of the double screen, where you can use either the Keypad or the Lower screen to access your pet (using the lower screen is fun, though.)
There's a wide variety of Battlechips, and a whole lot of action; A couple of puzzles I didn't like, but other than that, I enjoyed BN 5 a lot, and put in a good 25-30 hours. This is definitely a good game to have for Nintendo DS owners.

I read one review saying that there was "too much useless dialogue" and that the gameplay was "repetitve"
both of those things are pretty much par for the course in most any franchise game such as the megaman games (be it classic megaman which is still the champ of repetitious gameplay) and the cliche' dialogue is also standard for franchise games. what makes a good franchise game?
-enjoyable gameplay
-likable characters
about the former: I, myself loved the first megaman battle network game, just as i loved Megaman Legends (one and two) and the Megaman Zero games.
i loved them because they were a new-ish take on an old favorite.
I did not, however, enjoy the successors to the MMBN line nearly as much as i had enjoyed the first.
i will definately concede that the dialogue is kinda lame (both in this game and those which occurred between mmbn 1 and 5), but then you have to bare in mind that they are not even junior-high school students. these are like 2nd or 3rd graders we're talking about here, and the games are definately geared toward appealing to a 2nd/3rd grade audience who might not mind the dialogue being kindof bland.
as for the gameplay, well, same deal
as people grow up they generally look for increased complexity or innovation in their games as their tastes grow with them. these games, however, are not meant to grow or mature, theyre meant to be enjoyed by a set audience and by fans fo the franchise.
as such, i think that they, like most everything, should be taken with a grain of salt, as it were.
about this game specifically:
gameplay: as i said, its nothing new here, except that you can choose members of both teams, which is kindof neat. aside from that, theres nothing terribly fancy about it. as far as innovation goes i would give it a 1/5, but as far as over all enjoyable gameplay, for me personally, a 3/5 or 4/5 because this style of game floats my boat, when im in the mood.
over all gameplay score: 3.5/5 (not great but enjoyable enough)
Sound: same deal. nothing new here. the sound isnt horrible, but isnt great. same as it always has been in the series, which isnt a bad thing.too much change tends to frighten people off (haha)
over all sound score 3/5 (middle road, not great, not horrible)
plot: again, same deal as with the games before it: our heroes face off against what seems like unbeatable odds and win, yay happy endings, baddy gets beat heroes win. huray for our side. nothing new, but its still interesting, if it is to you.
over all plot score: 4/5 (I personally like it, but its probably not for everyone)
over all review:
basically, youve played one, youve played them all. if you like it, you like it, if you dont, you dont. if you expect something shiney and new, well, youre going to be sorely let down, but if you liked MMBN 1,2,3 or 4, youll probably like this one too.
3.5/5 overall
nothing what-so-ever new here, but its a formula game, and for me, it does okay. its a good time waster.

Good game. I have had this game for 2+ years and it is fun. It may be hard some times but it is still fun. Good game for good price.
