Dark Kingdom is a hack and slash RPG in the tradition of Baldur's Gate, but unfortunately the game suffers from so many drawbacks its difficult to compare it to that series in a favorable light. It's somewhat amusing to mindlessly hack away at hundreds of enemies, but it becomes tedious pretty fast and the gameplay and story do little to prop this title up.
Audience: I suppose this game is meant to appeal to fans of hack and slashers and capitalize on the fan base of games like Baldur's Gate. Dark Kingdom is an unoriginal game, and it's pretty easy to see it was modeled after Baldur's Gate and games like it.
Graphics: The graphics are okay, though I don't think they capitalized well on the PS3's power. Some of the cutscenes weren't even fully animated. The background of the levels is pretty bland and repetitive, and while there are plenty of special effects (especially while fighting using the mage), the animation falls short. I also noticed several glitches, where a character's sword would pass through another character but wouldn't show the impact, for example.
Gameplay: The hack and slash nature of this game makes combat an exercise in mashing buttons, but that's to be expected. This is a role playing game, so you can collect gear and increase your character's attributes as you level up. You can also collect 'essences' from fallen foes, some of which restore health and mana and some of which are used as a sort of currency to upgrade your gear and purchase powerups for your weapon. Beefing up a character is always fun, and Dark Kingdom was no exception, though the gear selection is pretty bland and should be considered standard fare for a game like this.
The storyline for Dark Kingdom is incredibly dull and uninteresting--a shame for an RPG. The dialog is pretty bad as well, and ranges from mildly corny to downright ludicrous.
Control: A lot of pressing the X and square buttons. It's pretty easy to control your character in this game, and it doesn't require much time to get the hang of. The camera, which swings wildly at time and often makes it difficult to see what's happening, makes this more difficult however.
Challenge: This game is not very difficult to master and, as far as I can tell, raising or lowering the difficulty just tweaks enemies' strength and doesn't do much to make the game itself more of a challenge.
Multiplayer: This game does have a 2 player coop mode, which is nice. You can also join in a group online, which I did not try.
This game is a good rental, and may be worth borrowing from someone. I personally wouldn't recommend buying it since the game is short and the replay value is probably very low. With only 3 classes to choose from (standard fare--warrior, mage, scout) it doesn't take long to expend the character possibilities (you can customize, of course, but not enough to make it worthwhile), and the world of Dark Kingdom is just not interesting enough to really get immersed in.

The graphics in this game are not that good. God of War and Final Fantasy X from the PS2 has much better graphics than what this game has. However, if you are a die-hard fan of the slasher genre and want to go about doing mindless hacking, then this game is for you. It has a simple story, and there are a lot of enemies to slash. There are a lot of controls to get hold of, and it may take one or two levels just to understand the different controls and aspects of the game.
The graphics could have been improved. At the end, when the game finishes, there's not even a cool video to sign things off. No special features either on the DVD once you finish the game.
I would recommend this game to fans of the slasher genre and for those who do not like to solve many puzzles to finish the game. The gameplay is linear and you can beat it probably in 5 days if you dedicate 3-4 hours every day. The initial level is quite good with some good views of the outdoor environment. As the game progresses, however, a lot of the action takes place indoors and it has a lot of metallic feeling into it. Lot of gray, black, and steel colored art work.
It's not an impressive game. The replay value is a bit high because there are multiple characters involved.
Go for it if you can't find any other better game.

This game is no fun, not even remotely. I tried to get into it, but its just not that great. The camera freaks out when you get close to a tree, because its always on auto-focus. The management menu is very tedious and its hard to find where your supposed to go, or to find out what your supposed to be doing. Truth is the Chamions series has accomplished what this game had hoped for. BAD GAME

Talk about a waste of the ps3's hardware, the ps3 is the most advanced system out and this game looks worse then a ps2 game! The gameplay is so so for a slasher game. Please sony, bring a new everquest to the ps3!

Im an avid gamer and this game was just what I needed. I bought Ultimate Alliance and found that game extemely annoying and boreing. But this game is a GREAT Action RPG. I started playing it at a friends house, for a good 5 hours straight. I gave it a couple of days and was wanting more so I had to buy it. Graphically not the greatest looking game, but its an action RPG, and a damn good one at that. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good Action RPG, a must have IMO. A blast with friends. I couldnt find this game anywhere but here. Thats prolly why they raised the price.

Somewhat fun hack-n-slash, loot grabbing. Though there are a limited number of armor options after a while.
The endgame stinks.

Well considering I have just goten the game the day I wrote this I won't be going into too much detail.
First off lets start with the gameplay
Its basecly pressing 2 buttons the entire way through constantly. Yes HACK n SLASH your way through this game.
Now its EXTREMELY lame without online play. Even with online play it gets quite boring. The only problem with online play is if the connection drops say goodbye to the progress youve goten.
It happened to me and I couldn't figure out anyway to get back and play my same character online. ( I don't even think it works offline either! ) It just saves the hosts character so when you load it you load the hosts character which is really stupid. I see no point in playing online when theres no way your going to find people to stick on the entire way through the game. Maybe you can someone start from the point but ive tried it and so far no good. Unless you want to start over and be the host every level and hope people join so they can lose their progress too.
The only diversity I found of the three characters you play ( warrior, scout, mage) is the mage. Considering you get pretty cool ownage spells and it makes it SLIGHTLY less hack n slash melee.
Basecly your a frekin moron if you get this game without online play. And hopefully there is a way to start from your character on the online games without being a host but Im not sure yet.
Anyway I give this 4 stars just because its an easy game to pick up and play as it really involves 2 buttons.
Mediocre at best

Just too Hack and Slash for me. Camera angles are awkward at times. Plus I'm a xbox 360 lover, might have been better on xbox, I stll didn't like the game all that much though.
