One of the only games that I've become truly addicted to. It's very easy to say, "I'm going to sit down and play for half an hour and then get back to work." but 4 hours later, you'll find yourself saying, "Just one more turn! I'm about to get Death Knights!"
My 12 year old loves this game!

We bought Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for the Mac from a 3rd party through Amazon, 'cause I read a bunch of good reviews. My 12 year old son is not ready for the net-based sim games like World of Warcraft, but he loves Heroes. He even got an 11 year old girl he's friends with hooked on the game. It's got a lot of action, and he can spend hours with it (much to my dismay!). Only problem is it only runs on OS9, so we have a G4-800 that we use, but the newer OSX machines won't run it. On that machine the speed is excellent and the graphics are quite good. We highly recommend this game.
Truly spectacular

I purchased Heroes of Might & Magic 1 and 2 for the Mac, and enjoyed both of them. So naturally I rushed out to buy the 3rd installment. And I doesn't disappoint at all. The graphics, while not dramatically improved from the last game, are beautiful. The gameplay is very easy to pick up and learn. The new hero types are a vast improvement, along with all the different army types that accompany them. The heroes you control take on more personality finally. They have short descriptions, and are able to advance up levels as in RPG's. In campaign mode, you are sometimes able to carry your best heroes over from game to game. If you enjoy the Heroes of Might & Magic series, you can't go wrong picking up the 3rd one....it takes the best things from the other two and expands upon them, while adding lots of new features, army types, artifacts, and terrains.
Heroes 3 buy it

This game is the best game i have ever played in my life. The music is good and the graphics-though not cutting edge are very pleasing. The gameplay is the best. I have fun when playing by myself, with friends on the same computer, and with people on the internet using the free program Gameranger. I only have two complaints. 1. it crashes too much, luckily there is an autosave feature. 2. no map editor for mac version. But overall i love it and you should buy it NOW!
Wow, this game is awesome!

HOMM3 is the first game of the series that I have played. I never realized what I was missing! Every facet of this game is impressive. From the great cut-scenes to the epic battles, you will be lost in this game for MANY hours at a time. The campaign and scenerio options are fantastic, but the fun doesn't end there! Multiplayer battles are simply a blast! I haven't yet (key word, YET) tried this game online, but I have spent long afternoons playing this game with the hot-seat method with buddies. I love the thoughts that fill my mind of what my enemies might do next. A glorius victory in battle against a friend is VERY rewarding! :) I could write page after page about this game, but I REALLY need to get back to playing it! So there you have it, if you even somewhat enjoy strategy or multiplayer games...BUT THIS PRODUCT NOW!

I tried this game at a friend's house and I was instantly hooked! This is the best game I have ever played. While playing you also have to think instead of just dumbly clicking your mouse, it has great graphics, and it's just really fun.
Decent graphics, decent music, all-in-all a great game

I can't really say that Might and Magic is actually similar to this game, but if you liked the other Heroes of Might and Magic games, you should like this one. The old Mac game 'King's Bounty' was basically the direct predecessor of the Heroes games... Heroes III encompasses all the old creature names, etc., and concepts (MP, HP, Exp., etc.) Retrospectively, Heroes III is essentially a glorified version of its predecessors... spectacular animations, decent music(adding a great environment to the world) and an enhanced interface, allowing you to manipulate your heroes and empire even more. For a new gamer, it takes a while to learn all the functions; I myself am still learning new features. You can try and perfect your strategy in a Hotseat game(playing with other human/computer players on the same computer), Online Multiplayer Game(play against other human/computer players on-line), a regular campaign game, or one of the many scenarios.
Good but buggy.

It's an excellent turn based strategy game with a lot of replayability, marred by a few minor bugs and performance issues that 3DO never did fix. (There's a few spells in the game I've still never seen!) For a trun 5 star rated game, try the new HOMM 3.
great game

Heroes threeeis the first heroes eye got.I liked Heroes threee. The graphics are really good. At this place called the stables it has horse heads two millimters high and they move! There is a different type of music for each type of terrain and also when you battle someone, it's not just a terrain, there are dozens of different objects there can be and it's actually the type of terrain you are wandering around on. There are dozens of monsters as well. There is seven monsters in each town and each town has it's own terrain. However the idea of having all your guys travel with your characters is stooopid because thay don't even appear on the terrain! And all yor bildings are inside a small town which looks like yor fort/hall/whatever which iz maybe 8 times the size ofa heroe. The campaign is 0k but the first level is way 2 e-z & the 2nd is way 2 uuuurgh aaagh ooof dead. Ds game is 0k/fine/whatever so if you like kinda dumb games this is for kinda dum pursen so dude not recommended haha
