Ghost Recon is by far the best of the war games. It involves strategy and first person action.

One of My All Time Favorites!

A GREAT game! The single player campaign is challanging, great story line, great weaponry. Mulitplayer is also great, and easily expandable with a plethora of Mod's (http://www.planetrainbowsix.com/damnr6/start.html is the best source). Highly recommend to anyone who likes strategical challanging.

I have the ghost recon desert siege pack, and it is great! The graphics are incredible and are realistic. And with gameranger you can play online and it is tons of fun. Also, with some mods you can get over 300 new guns and different levels. I HIGHLY reccomend this game to all gamers.

GHOST RECON is the real thing....

I love military games and I like 'em hard and realistic. No extra ammo, no health, and no extra lives. With that said, Ghost Recon gets it right. I am a big fan of Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, so as you can imagine I was pretty excited to get a copy of Ghost Recon for OSX. Ghost Recon is pretty different from the previous games in both game play and graphics. The planning interface is more informational than graphical. I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand it's easier to set up your team, but on the other it isn't as much fun. The graphics and sound are pretty good, but not the best out there. I'm probably a little spoiled from playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. One thing I really liked graphics wise was the uniforms. Your snipers look more like a tree or a bush than a soldier. This also gives them some extra stealth and the enemy has a harder time trying to spot them. But the real amazing thing to Ghost Recon is the game play. When you send your teams out, you better secure all possible angles and move in slow, otherwise be fully prepared to have all your guys picked off one by one. Almost every time I get lazy and skip by an area, some terrorist comes up behind my guys while they are laying in the dirt and shoots them in the back. This brings me to another cool thing about this game, the AI. The computer players are good. Here's a good example. I tried to secure a corner of a building by standing right up next to it. I was able to pick off a handful of terrorists when BAM, one of my guys got hit with a grenade. As soon as the AI figured out what I was doing, it changed strategies. How's that for realistic? Here's one final thing I liked about the game, the weapons. Rogue Spear gave you a ton of machine guns to use but most of them were crappy. Ghost Recon gives you only good guns and everything from anti-tank rockets to rocket propelled grenades. I love blasting one of those anti-tank grenades into a room full of terrorists. This game isn't like Quake or Return to Castle Wolfenstein. There are no monsters or zombies, just terrorists and your team. It's so realistic, it's more of a simulator than a game I guess, and it's a ton of fun.

I love Ghost Recon

Turn your Macintosh into a pivotal wartime control center. In Ghost Recon, Russia has fallen to ultra-nationalistic leaders driven to rebuild the Iron Curtain. In Desert Siege, 60-year conflict boils over as Ethiopia invades its smaller neighbor Eritrea, threatening the world's most vital shipping lanes in the Red Sea. Command this elite team of U.S. Army Green Berets through a series of demolitions, search and rescue missions and all-out fights for survival. Select, train and lead the offensive spearhead as the first team deployed and the last team to leave. Ghost Recon and the Desert Siege expansion pack put you in the deadly, realistic combat of tomorrow's battlefields like no other game. If you meet them in combat, you're already dead.

Some good, some bad

I played Rainbow 6 and liked it for its realism, so I had high expectations for the sequel, Ghost Recon. Overall, it was a satisfying game, though by no means great.

Bad things--graphically this game is nothing exceptional.

Only a few music soundtracks.

It's not as realistic as Rainbow 6.

You'll spend 20 minutes trying to sneak up on a bad guy only to have him kill you.

Good things--Gameplay was very fun at times, and kept me wanting to come back for more even after I'd been slaughtered.

You'll have to learn strategies like telling your squads to cover possible venues of enemy attack, or laying an amush with claymores.

Dude, this game rules

Oh man, this game rules. THe controls are excellent, and the lightsaber effects are excellent. The physicengin is great. And it moving story is ecellent. I was crying when the dinosaur died. And the part where Luke Skywalker was killing the evil robot was really supensful. I love this game.

Bad Gameplay=Bad Game

I won't go into any details of Ghost Recon's premise or plot, because you probably know that already. Here's what you should know. It's bad. In a word, yuck. A plethora of keyboard controls make what would have otherwise been a promising game, an irksome experience. Love keyboard commands? You'll love trying to find the right key combination in the heat of battle! I'm sure there are well over 20 different keys you need to control your squad on these missions. Need to reload, change weapons, activate another squad, check your mission objectives? Hope you remember the key!

And if you're looking for Wolfenstein-level graphics, you won't find them here either. The eye candy is circa 1998-3D-accelerated PC-genre, which wouldn't really be that much of a problem, because gameplay rules. But, the gameplay doesn't rule in Ghost Recon. So...

I played Ghost Recon on my Mac OS X PowerBook 667 with plenty of RAM and hard drive space.
