My daughter got a GBA for her birthday (right before Christmas), and I got this as well as some other games (at Christmas) to go with it--specifically, Mickey Mouse's Magic something-or-other, Polly Pocket, Finding Nemo, and Disney Princess.
Even though she's gotten through this entire game (at the easier level of two), she's not put this game down since she first tried it! Thank goodness I got this one at Christmas, or the others might never have even been attempted. This is BY FAR her favorite, and I'll say it was fun for me to play as well.
Yes, there is some reading, but I think if you get a non-reader started on the way the game works, reading isn't really necessary. I could be wrong though, as my daughter is a reader anyway.
One nice thing for the young ones is that on the easy level, even if they get hit by the dropping acorns or whatever the "bad" thing is, they don't "die" and have to start over. Very good for reducing frustration! Now that my daughter has made it all the way through on the easy level, she can play the regular level without frustration and with confidence.
Great game!
Great for older kids who can read.

I bought this game for my 6 year old daughter. She has just started reading. This game requires a lot of reading. Even with me sitting with her and helping her she got very frustrated. I think she will really enjoy the game once she is able to read but she will probably have to wait at least a year.
Awesome-My 7 yr old LOVES it!

We bought this game for Christmas for my 7 yr old daughter and she absolutely LOVES it! I had to play it and after a couple of days finished it. There are passwords that are very easy to write down (pictures of Barbie, her friend, the two cats and the old man) instead of letters and numbers. There is alot to read, but perfect for someone who can. It can be a little complicated using two characters with their own abilities during the same "scene", but once you catch on, watch out. I wouldn't buy this for a little girl under reading age though, unless you want to help the entire time. I love the graphics and the sound. Very well done! Watch out-it becomes addicting! I found myself sneeking every free minute I had just to finish it.

I haven't looked at it so I don't know but I can tell you that she just turned seven and I haven't had to help her with it and she plays it all the time.

This is - hands down - my young daughter's very favorite gameboy game. She has several - in fact she has most of the games geared for young girls - and yet this has been her perennial favorite.
"Barbie: Princess and the Pauper" is one of her favorite dvd movies and the movie itself translates well to the game. The player can switch around between 4 main characters - Anneliese, Erika, Serafina and Wolfie. Each has his/her own special talent. Anneliese has a little 'shield' that she uses to block things from falling on her; Erika sings and disarms most of her enemies this way; Serafina kicks and jumps; Wolfie reaches up and scratches things. They each can be switched back and forth depending on what the player needs to accomplish. The characters go through certain levels of challenges and instructions are given in the beginning of each level. The finale features the villain Preminger, of course, and other characters make an appearance in the game. The challenges are easy enough for the young player but still sustains his/her interest.
In fact, I've played the game myself and was throughly enchanted by it. It is interesting enough to even captivate my 7 year old son who has spent several hours "helping" his sister through various stages. The folks at Mattel and Vivendi Universal have done a commendable job with this game and we look forward to more Barbie related games in the future. So much so that we ran out and purchased the "Barbie: Magic of Pegasus" game as soon as it was released.
I highly recommend this game to Barbie fans, fans of the dvd movie and little gamers ages 3 to 13. This is a gem of a game.

My six year old daughter received this game for Christmas. We have had to tear her away from it for the past three days. She enjoys the different levels and, while she has had some difficulty completing them she enjoys the challenges! She doesn't have any trouble reading the dialogue and genuinely enjoys the game! A great buy at any price!

I love this game because Erika & Anneliese,
and Serafina & Wolfie work together.
There are many fun levels and i played it
over a hundred times.
The mini-games are really fun too.
If u watched the Princess & the Pauper movie then
u know that King Dominick and Julian are pretty important
characters. Thats why i think they should have added them
in the game too.
It would be much cuter if they were in it.
But i still love it and have hours of fun playing it.
If u love Barbie and the Barbie Movies then u will
definitly love this game.
I also recommend (Barbie & the Magic of Pegasus GBA)
Happy Playing!

My daughter got this game for her 6th Birthday along with her GBA and she loves it! It took a bit to get used to switching back and forth between Annaliese and Erika (each girl can only do certain things...so they BOTH play the game) while going through each level, but once she got the hang of it she did great!

I think it is a really good game. The reading comes in handy, but after you learn the game, you don't need it. It is hard to put down, because my brother then wants to play it. I like being able to use the password, so I don't have to go through the easy parts again.
