Too much fighting...

As an adult who loves Super Mario Bros games, Yoshi's Island, Kirby, Madagascar, Curious George, and many others. I am a fan of DragonBall & DragonBall Z comic books and really loved the story. I decided to get this game. The story of the game follows just like the Dragonball books. But Goku is always fighting. There is no adventure like the games I've played. On the first level/stage he fights many many enemies. All he does is fight. You can not move on until you have fought all the enemies on the screen. After awhile I got tired of fighting.

Unlike the other games I've played, this game has no variety. For an example: Super Mario Bros. You take Mario on an adventure on each level, stomping monsters and enemies, jump on blocks to get mushrooms, collect coins etc. You get the idea. Goku in this game, all he does is fight. Nothing else so far. On the second level, I finally got the flying cloud. So now he's able to fly in the air on the cloud but then again, he's flying and fighting. More fighting. Kill kill kill all the enemies on the screen. You are supposed to collect all the dragon balls but that is after you're done with a level and in the story mode, it tells of the turtle guy giving the Dragon Ball to Goku. Goku didn't actually go find a Dragon Ball in the game. It is given to him during the story. The game probably would have been better if Goku would seek the balls on each levels, making it more exciting.

The graphics are cute and colorful. No complaints there. It does save where you left off.

In all, I'm kinda disappointed in the game. It is focused on too much fighting. If you like fighting games, then this is for you. This game isn't adventurous. You don't explore around the levels or look for items like you do in other games.

Fun but too short

This game is really fun for a side scroller beat em up. The only disappointment was I felt it was too short. It would have been nice if they had added more levels to the game from the Anime.

Dragonball Adventure - side scrolling recap of series

I enjoyed this game. I don't know why, but even though this gave is redundant and at time tedious, I enjoy playing this game.

I ended this game in about a week as Goku, and in about 3 days after that (as Krillin). This game reminds me of the old-school fighting adventure games like Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles on the NES. Actually the game play easy to catch on to the basic techniques. The multiple modes sometimes can be hard to navagate at first, but once you get the hang of it, you want to explore every cave and open every door (I still haven't opened all the door yet). Some of the items you found as Goku, You cannot find as Krillin (and vice-versa).

The fight mode (as opposed to the story mode) has a repeat of all the torny you fought in the story mode + Mercinary Tao, Piccolo Daimo, Goku and Mecha Mercinary Tao (What???). You end the game at fighting Piccolo, which is how the TV series ends, (you can never get enough of Goku punching a hole through Piccolo, can you???). Parts of the game can be frustrating (Like Korin's turtle shell/cave level), but it has enough variety to leave you wanting more.

The only down side to it is the awkwardness of the some of the special attacks, you have to push (b) three times in a row to extend the pole, and the whole "flying nimbus" thing, you jump and it disappears. The animation and the voice acting seem good (actually better than some of the PS2 games).

If you like side scrolling fighting games with a little adventure to it, this game is for you.

Yet Another Potentially Good Game Gone Bad

I originally bought this game, because it is the only Dragonball game available in America, but when I played it, I found some serious flaws. The first is that the game is another side-scroller, and as one reviewer said, there was too much fighting. I am a big fan of the original Legacy Of Goku games, and was expecting this game to be similar. Instead it was more like Dragonball GT: Transformation, which I also didn't like.

The game also doesn't finish the story of Dragonball, and only stops after King Piccolo is defeated. After that, they completely skipped the 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi, and the fight against Piccolo Jr. Other people have said that this game ends where the show does, but even that is not true, because the show even creates a side story that occurs after Goku wins the tournament. In addition to that, Mecha Taopaipai, shouldn't exist before Piccolo Jr. appears, but he is still a playable character in the game.

My final complaint about the game is that it is too short. I was able to beat the game, with both Goku, and Krillin, and find almost all of the hidden items in the game, in less than 24 hours. By this time I had already unlocked all the characters, and the only thing I had left to do was play through the tournament mode.

In short I had expected more out of this game than it delivered. On the other hand however, other people have given this game great reviews. My prejudice stems, I believe from the fact that I am a fan of the Legacy Of Goku series. Therefore, I wouldn't call this a truly bad game in general, but compared to LOG, it is terrible, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has played those games before.

Great Game

This is a great, old school-styled video game. I loved it and played it until it hurt (seriously, GBA-SP very hard on the fingers). It's challenging, even on normal, and that's a positive point for most players. It kept me working until the end, and there's plenty of stuff to do after the initial story is over, so you'll have plenty of fun on this for a while.

.....Here we go again!!!!!! Another game i purchased without reading a reviewing or hearing someone elses response who already owns the game. I purchased it pretty much a few days after its release. It seems most Dragon Ball Z Games have been getting pretty good feedback since the Playstation 2 era started. But most of them have been 1 on 1 fighters which i cant stand. So this game is another Side-Scroller Action Adventure Beat Em Up in the same tradition as the last Dragonall GT Transformation. But seems to have a better quality about it. Nothing trendsetting or revolutionary but does its hand at lending a variety of styles into one game. Its a Final Fight but with DragonBall characters. Ive only played about 4 stages. Pretty fun & i hope they keep rolling them out =)

I love this game it's so exact to the story line of the show Dragon Ball. How do I know I use to tape record every episode and watch the episodes on tv over and over again personally I was waiting for them to make a game out of the show but who ever made this game did a fantastic job especially with the graphics and following with the story and not adding parts like in some of the other games. THIS GAME ROCKS AND IS TOTALLY AWESOME IF YOUR BUYING THIS GAME YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU ARE THEN ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU HAVEN'T EITHER FOLLOWED THE STORY OR WATCHED THE STORY ON CARTOONNETWORK THEY SHOW THE STORY ONE EPISODE AT A TIME HELLO YOU NEED TO GET THIS GAME IF YOUR A DRAGON BALL FAN BACAUSE THAT'S HOW DRAGON BALL Z CAME ABOUT FIRST DRAGON BALL, DRAGON BALL Z, DRAGON BALL GT YEAH DRAGON BALL FAN ALL THE WAY YEAH!!! And guess what there's three modes to this game witch makes it even way cooler because I finally beat the game on Easy Mode on this game now I'm replaying this game but on this time on the Regular Mode and as soon as I beat it on Regular Mode I'm going to beat it in Hard Mode.

levels for the Easy Mode:

1. Goku's House
2. Oolong's Village
3. Wilderness
4. Pilaf's Castle
5. Island of Training
6. World Tournament Arena
7. Muscle Tower
8. UnderWater Cave
9. Land of Korin
10. Red Ribbon Army Base
11. Baba's Palace
12. City Street
13. Above City
14. Yajirobe's Prairie
15. Chow Castle

Plus when you beat the Easy Mode you get to unlock the minigames and the extras which is really cool and when you beat the Easy Mode all the way through when it comes to the credit's DO NOT TURN THE GAME OFF because other wise the game will not save the last level and then you won't be able to get the minigames or the extras.

Levels for the Regular Mode:

1. Goku's House
2. Oolong's Village
3. Kame House
4. Wilderness
5. Fire Mountain
6. Pilaf's Castle
7. Island of Training
8. World Tournament Arena
9. Muscle Tower
10. UnderWater Cave
11. Land of Korin
12. Red Ribbon Army Base
13. Baba's Palace
14. City Street
15. Above City
16. Yajirobe's Prairie
17. Chow Castle

The quality of this product is fantastic.

I bought this mainly based on the developer, Dimps. Known for the GBA Sonic games, multiple other Dragon Ball games, and the company Capcom is outsourcing Street Fighter 4 development to.

I'm not a very big fan of Dragon Ball, however this game could stand on it's own without the license. It reminds me of old SNES action platforming games. Everything moves at a brisk pace with excellent controls and great animation.
