The characters in Ice Age 2: The meltdown are cute, especially the sabetooth squirrel named Scrat. Very nice. Glad I bought it.

A difficult game...

My 7 year old son got this game for his 8th birthday. He and his 6 year old brother played with it for about a month and they got stuck and gave up. I looked into it myself and I got as far as the 2nd level before I got stuck. I checked into the internet about this game and there were complaints about getting stuck in a level or they can't get around a particular spot or they can't find an item they need to collect. The graphics are real nice. Just like the movie. But it's a bit hard for some people in my opinion. I am selling it to replace it with some other game for the boys...

Fun game but not recommended for smaller children

Although the movie is great for smaller children, I wouldn't recommend this game for younger kids. My daughter is almost 7 and has a hard time figuring out this game. Basically, it is mazes in which the 3 characters, Manny, Sid and Diego must manuver their way through obstacles in the maze to get to the next level. THe characters must work together and the player must switch between the characters to stop gushing geizers, swim through rivers, jump over canyons, etc. But after the first few levels, the game gets pretty hard for little ones. As an adult, I really like the game and find it challenging although I have had to look up a few hints. But it is too hard for the younger kids that the movie attracted. Would recommend this for ages 10 and up unless your child is particulary good with mazes.

Not what I had expected

I got the game simply because it came with my Gameboy Advance. I'm 18 years old, so it seems like this game would not appeal to me. However, I was instantly addicted. It is a pretty fun puzzle game, but I don't think it really fits for the target audience. I know my GA was previously owned by a smaller child, about 5 years old, and she couldn't really get past the first zone. If your looking for a brainteaser that will challenge you and keep you hooked, or just something to occupy your time in the bathroom, this is an OK cartridge to keep around.
