Speaking not only as an avid gamer but also as someone who recently discovered the magic of the Akira Kurosawa collection, I think I can safely say that I can appreciate this game to it's fullest potential.
The only drawback is the mutliple paths you can follow to the games conclusion. They are plentiful but in the end you are limited to your choices of what to say/who to follow/where to go and often times you'll find that some of the endings are similar, which isn't all that great of an idea considering that there are only six endings to the game.
Other than that the game offer a wide variety of weapons to choose from (swords mostly) and a variety of characters to interact with. (GEEZ, that old man is annoying!)
All in all though a good game, especially for the unique who is a hybrid of PS2 and Akira Kurosawa fan.
Best Samurai ever. Who is it?

Way of the Samurai is an extraordinary game. You can chose many faces and swords and outfits. You have many stances to use and learn in this game. Though it is short there is 6 different endings depending on who your allies are, how many people you have slain, and other things. This game is a must buy for serious gamers and samurai lovers. Well have a good day to you all bye!

There is almost NOTHING wrong with this game. I love it. The graphics are pretty good, considering when it was made. Although, during fights, camera angels sometimes can make you irratable. And don't play on the hardest, or even medium setting when your just starting and you think your the master of fighting games because this game is FREAKIN HARD! One more thing, is the saving system is HORRIBLE! I've tried almost everything to fix it, but the fact that the game took me about an hour and a half to beat(its a short game! its longest if you join the Kouru family). Otherwise, the sword fighting scenes are really cool, the music is breathtaking, and the graphics are usually quite good too. Plus, there's not many Samurai games in America, and this one's probabally near the top. If you liked this game, you'll like Any Tenchu games, Kengo: Master of Bushido, and Onimusha Warlords or 2(which is like Way of the Samurai's cusin...)I highly reccomend this game to anyone with enough patience to get by.
This game ROCKS!

I rented this game not to long ago from a local Hollywood Video, and I loved it! I for one am quite parcial to role playing games, and this one so far was tops. Not only do you get to play as a samurai, but you really have to train hard in order to get really good with your sword. I like this game also because it is short, I don't much care for really long games. In fact, I finished the game the first time in under an hour. But one of the best things alos about this game is you can go with the Akadana clan, the Kurou Clan, or (I'm guessing) you can work alongside the government, or you can just be a drifter, walking around helping people, or an assasin, who works for no one, but kills everyone in sight. ^_~ It's a lot of fun and definitely worth buying.
simply awesome

I heard this game had a Yojimbo style plot with a little choose your own adventure thrown in so I picked it up. The game starts with you on a mountain pass and some thugs trying to kidnap a lady. At this point you can make some decisions. you can A) save her and go to lunch walk by not caring or C) help the thugs grab her with slight variations on them. The whole game is like that and while tha area is small it works fine.
The graphics are pretty bad, neither the characters nor the background, heck not even the blood has a lot of detail and the only real standout is the motion-captured fighting which is actually some pretty spiffy stuff. This is made by the same people who did Tenchu, and there are even a couple of ninjas , though they are fairly sucky.
The combat is pretty basic early on, but once you learn some good moves it feels much more fluid and you can do some very cool stuff. There are many different kinds of swords, 62 to be precise and they are all different, if only slightly.
After you beat the game you get a ranking and that will help you unlock stuff like costumes or a nice two-player Vs. mode, which while not great is pretty decent fun. The game is short taking only 2 hours or so once you get good, though I expect to replay it many more times and get all the goodies, plus there are many different endings and choices you can make which ups the replayability.
Cool but not exactly what i expected.

This game is more of a cartoon where you tell the main character what to do. It should have been named something more to what it is. Some parts are serious others are funny, but if your expecting a deep, rich story of a ronin samurai, wandering the country side trying to spread peace and justice to all those in need, this isnt exactly it.
At first it seems very serious but then characters that are more from the 1970s appear and more modern things appear. Most of your choices are 1.yes 2.no and 3.hey is that a cat!?
The best part of this game is by far the fighting. You get all kinds of swords and each 1 has different moves and attributes to it. Its not just slam buttons and do a 50 hit combo. you have to block and push your opponent and that sort of thing, but it doenst get old because you get a lot of really cool moves, you can do everything from Swinging your sword wildly and running at him like a maniac to kicking objects at them, to being a cold hardened warrior waiting for the right moment to strike and break your opponents sword leaving him harmless to your might. In short the fighting rules.
Way of the Samurai is very short and akward at first, i mean really short if you wanted you could go through it in an hour thats stretching it reading conversations and walking and stuff ,and doesn't really have much to do with following the way of the samurai. If you want a serious game this isnt it, if you want a fighting game with more plot then "i must beat up that guy to save my father" this is more your thing. I love the fighting but dont really like the rest of it, its not bad but its not great. i give it a 3 and not a 4 because at 1 part 1 of the characters says "im Bond, James Bond." thats when i gave up completly on giving any seriousness to the game and just started swinging my sword. Its a fun game and although short it has multiple endings and so many swords and combos youll play it a lot. If you dont expect a serious game its perfect if you do its not so perfect but its still really really fun.
