Since THPS2's trick system was basicaly broken I haven't tried another GBA Tony Hawk again. If you have access to a PS2, XBOX, GameCube, or even a PSX, get it on there instead. You'll enjoy it a lot more.

I have never been a huge fan of extreme sports and extreme sports games alike, but I decided to check this title out due to its excellent reviews and great simularity to the console versions (something hard to find in a handheld game). I so not regret buying this. Basically, you can choose from 14 skaters and start a career with one (or all) of them. When you go to a levels, you find people who give you certain tasks to complete (usually within a time limit) such as collecting the letters in COMBO in one combo, getting a certain score in a given time limit, or finding the hidden tape. When a goal is completed you get a point, which helps you unlock new levels with different goals. Also, each level has new boards, packages, money (which can be used to increase stats and such), and tokens which are placed everywhere. Trick-wise, well, there are lots of nifty grinds, flips and grabs along with special moves unique to each character such as Tony Hawk's Kickflip McTwist. Excellent game even if u arnt a skate fan ( im not).
GRAPICS: 4.5- excellent for a handheld system
SOUND: 4.5- catchy tunes and great sound effects
CONTROL: 4.0- takes time to get used to on the GBA
REPLAY: 5.0- lots of stuff to collect and big levels
OVERALL: 5.0- excellent game

This game is great! I would recommend this game to anyone who loves Tony Hawk and has a GBA. The way you play the levels has changed, though. No more 2:00 timer! Well, at least until you start a goal. Actually, all you do is go up to people and if it says 'Press L For Goal', you press L and it will show you what you have to do, then the goal starts. Here is my ratings:
Graphics: 10
Sound: 10
Gameplay: 10
Replay Value: 10
Wow! A perfect 10! Don't forget to check out my other game reviews on this site. You never know where one could be hiding...

Tony Hawk 2 was one of the GBA's lauch titles and was undeniably impressive in terms of graphics and gameplay. Last year's Tony Hawk 3 tried to improve on the formula but was mostly the same game as before. Now, the developers at Vicarious Visions have made some great refinements and the new Tony Hawk 4 improves on all of it's predecessors to date. Players can now choose mission goals like finding a secret tape and collecting COMBO in one big grind, making the game structure less restrictive than ever before. Graphicly speaking the graphics have never looked better on the tiny GBA scree. The skaters are fluidly animated and the environments are nicely designed and bigger than ever. Control is tricky at first but eventually becomes tight (as in the last two Tony Hawk GBA games), but most importantly the series' trademark addictive gameplay remains intact, making Tony Hawk 4 one of the best GBA games to ever be produced, and a must buy for GBA owners.
This game is great

The "create your own skater" thing is cool, but, sometimes you lose your guy behind walls. My only complaint was that you could not move the camera. I recomend it with 4 STARS!! :-( :-)
