Okay, I'll admit, I was excited about this game. I went out and bought it the day it was released. But it was really disappointing...

Positives:
+The sound. The music and voices were good.
+The combat. I like the combat system. One button is for kicking, one for punching, and one for ki blasts. By pushing a bunch of different buttons in order you make combos. I also like that you can purchase new moves and techniques with "Z coins" (found throughout levels)
+The destroyable environment. I like that I can kick my enemy into a rock and it explodes. I like how blasting a car makes it blow up.
+The Co-Op mode. You and a friend can play together through the missions.

Negative:
-The lack of gameplay. If you just sat down and played this game, you could easily beat it in under 8 hours.
-The lack of variety. There are about 3 different mission types and after awhil, everything just seems the same and you find yourself wondering "Didn't I do this already?"
-Not being able to go everywhere in a level. What I mean by that is you basically have a guided path to follow on each level. There are invisible walls keeping you from straying off course. I like to explore, so I don't like being limited to one area.
-Not having any VS battle mode. When I saw this was 2 player I was thinking more of battles, not co-op. Then I noticed it had co-op and I was like ok, cool. But then I noticed there was no battles. What if you just want to battle your friend in a level you unlocked with a character you unlocked? That would've given the game more variety.
-Very little replay value. Once you've played it through, you feel almost like it'd be a chore to go through it all again. It's one you'd put aside until you dust it off years later and play it out of curiosity...

The Verdict:
Diehard DBZ Fans: This is a must have. This is the only DBZ game out there right now that lets you wander around worlds. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

Casual DBZ Fans: Rent it. I guarantee you'll beat it before you have to return it. If you like it after that and you have the extra cash, find it somwhere cheap and pick it up.

Children under 10: Put it on a birthday/holiday list. This is a good one for kids who can't do the puzzle solving of other games, or really advanced attacks. This game is really straightforward and easy for kids to understand.

Everyone else: Stay far away!

You've got to be joking me....

i am an extreme DBZ fan and I was really mad when i bought this game. Atari seemed to be trying their best to capture the feel of the Dragonuniverse with Budokais 1-3, 3 being perhaps the best. However, they didn't pull it off with sagas. For starters, There aren't really good cut scenes, just little movies that tell you whats going on. Without cut scenes like those in Budokai 1, i didn't really feel as if I was really involved in the game play. Then, you only got one special attack and I was really po'ed that you couldn't use the spirit bomb or final flash. Also, there just isn't enough going on to keep you entertained. You are pretty much walking around casually, killing and picking up crap here and there. Finally,if you even last that long (many of my friends just quit), the end sucks. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO END!!!!!! The only bonuses you are given at the end are the ability to play any stage with new characters such as Broly and Bardock and all those movies that you've already seen throughout the game. No tournaments, no nothing. I thougtht I got punk'd.

What happened!

Ok, bottom line, DBZ budokai 1 and 2 sucked! I gave 1+2 a 2/5. but i gave 3 a 4/5! I was expecting the same thing in sagas. I wanted to love this game, but i didn't. The frustrating camera angles and bad gameplay makes this game suck. These dudes can fly! And yet, you can only get 6 feet of the ground is DBZ sagas! I don't care what anyone says, this a pathetic platformer. (...)

Never buy it

There are a lot of things wrong with this game. But the concept of the game is fun and would be a good game without the low production values First every character is the same except broly. The game feels like it was rushed do to deadlines. The combat is clunky and sometimes my guy disappears in mid air. simpley put-the worst dbz game ever

Not what you'd think....

Not as good as it was supposed to be. The minute I had bought the game, I was so excited until I played it and beat it in the next hour. The game is so short! This game let me down. This isn't the first DBZ RPG game because you have to take in account that The Legacy of Goku games and Buu's Fury and the other GBA games are RPG. Another letdown, only goes up to Cell saga. Only one character goes SS2 and there some stupid new mini saga with some guy they made up that goes after Freiza Saga. A lot of glitches. If you keep on fighting, you will eventually disappear from the screen, but your opponent can see you and still be able to attack you. I wonder why it's $39.99 for GCN but $49.99 for PS2 and Xbox? I'll give it a generous 3/5.

Excellent service

I brought the game beacuse I heard it was a adventure game insteed of a fighting one so I picked it up and decided to play it. After a few levals the game got a little boring but when you get to the end of each one you get to fight a boss which is the best part of the game.

Pros

Lots of charecters

Fun Bosses

Sceans From The Anmie

Cons

Bad Camra

Some Pictures Messed Up

Needs The Buu Saga

Over all there should be a sagas 2 with the other sagas and better graphics. If you want a DBZ fighting game get Budoki Thenkiichi.

well...

This game has totally amazing graphics, but it is too short!Broley is awesomely strong and all,but the attack of the characters are kinda lame. The only things I like is the graphics and when you kick or punch someone and then they break a wall or something like that.Like I said, good but short. The missing thing is that it doesnt have versus,it only has story and coop and that is kinda well...lame.Still,the graphics maked me keep playing and well, since some of you people gave it such a short score, then Im giving it a 4.

Not bad, not great

I bought this game a few weeks ago, i'll start by saying how short it is. If you play a hard mode, and don't die, it may take about ten hours. The easy level and normal level are a cake walk, only do them for a warm-up. There is no way to change the camera angle by yourself, and some of the graphics aren't that good, also, when you go super saiyan, or super piccolo, it's very hard to stay powered up. Despite these shortcomings the game is fairly good. Collecting powerups, and z-coins for upgrades makes the game a lot of fun, and some of the battles are very challenging. The game also has great replay value. After you beat it, you unlock the pendulum room, which lets you play any levels with any character. Even many new charaters because only five are availabe. Regular characters fromthe story-line like tien, numerous versions of the main charcters, and other people who have nothing to do with anything, like bardok (father of goku), and broly, who is always super saiyan, and kicks butt. Although the game only goes through the cell saga, it still brings an interesting twist to the DBZ universe. If you buy it, you'll definetely find faults in it, but it is still good to pick up and play once in a while. Besides, its a good way to prepare you for budokai 3 on the cube when it comes out.

Don't underestimate this game...

Don't believe all of those people who say that this game sucks. They, obviously, don't have a life. When I first played this game, I was immediately hooked. The graphics are amazing and gameplay is cool. One of the best things about this game is the "heavy blows" dealt to an opponent. When fighting a boss, depending on the scenery, you can hit him or her into the background. You can, also, do this to the foot soldiers throughout the game. The boss battles are the best battles in the game.

The only things that I don't like about this game is the music and the absence of the Buu saga. When fighting a group of enemies, the music never "pumps you up" in order to get ready for battle. The Buu saga should really be on this game. I hope that Japan will dish out a sequel to this game. I would buy it the day it comes out...

Believe me, if you are looking for a new experience in the world of Dragon Ball Z, then this is the game for you.
