Just like the other Sims games.

You play this game just like the other Sims games. You control the people that you choose to create in your family. You create your pets, but you can't control them. I bought the game thinking that I would be able to play the game as a dog or a cat, but then I discovered that I could only play as people.

The game is just as entertaining as the other Sims games. The main difference is that you not only have goals for your people, but for pets too (lean tricks, potty training, etc.).

I had problems too

I really enjoyed this game, and got pretty far into it UNTIL IT STOPPED SAVING. It is not the memory card's fault, as every other game we have saves just fine on the memory card. I was so disappointed--what's the point of playing if you can't save?

Groundhog Day anyone?

This game quickly lost its appeal with my kids after the second week. The number one reason?? IT'S BORING! The PC game is much more entertaining and the cheats at least make it interesting.

With this game, you get to create your pets and people and then you get to move them in and either build from scratch or have them move into a pre-made home and buy them the stuff they need to survive.

Then the repetition begins. In order to survive you need the basic necessities. A bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and entertainment. In order to get those things you'll need a job so it's, go to work--come home--cook, bathroom, entertain, bed. Got to work--come home--cook, bathroom, entertain, bed. Go to work--come home--cook, bathroom, entertain, bed. Go to work-- See the pattern?!? Now if you or your kids are into building and getting cool stuff for your place this isn't the game for you, unless you enjoy the occasional moment where your character or pet passes out and has to be revived because you aren't following my above monotony to get money to feed everyone---because that is all you'll be able to afford even working everyday.

The Sims in this game lose their hunger/fun/social/etc. points way to fast and you are always playing catch up to keep them happy so they go to work.

The graphics are nice and you can train your pet. The movement of the sims is also nice and you can really get up close and personal with them but sometimes that intimicy is a bit awkward and walls/furniture/pets get in the way. Multiple exits are a must because a sleeping or passed out pet in a doorway means no escape for the sim in the room.

Social opportunities abound when you go to the community lot but you don't spend simoleons--you'll need pet points, which you earn when you teach your pet new tricks (which is close to be impossible because of the monotony you'll need to do to keep your sim happy and fed). There is also the occasional rainstorm and if you don't buy a roof you get rained on while sleeping, lol.

Overall my kids enjoyed finding all the new things in this game you don't find on the PC version. They also had fun with all the passing out and reviving. Oh, and a sim who needs the restroom has a hilarious run that they really enjoyed. Other than that there was nothing else entertaining about it and it's function now is to collect dust.

The CD was new and most of the game play worked, but I wasn't able to add any wall coverings or the game would freeze, I hope others don't have the same issue.

HAD IT ONLY A FEW WEEKS, AND IT FREEZES UP ALREADY. NO, IT IS NOT THE GAMECUBE BECAUSE THEY PLAY OTHER GAMES ON IT AS WELL. I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL, AND MY 7 YR OLD IS BEGINNING TO BECOME DISPLEASED WITH IT AS WELL BECAUSE OF IT FREEZING UP. THUMBS DOWN ON SIMS 2 PETS.:(

I loved the original SIMS. I had hoped that SIMS 2 Pets would be only an improvement. It was in that the graphics were better and the pets are wonderful; however, the building options were more limited and unlike SIMS 2 there wasn't a story mode, which I looked forward to playing.

I had this game for one night.. bought it at a second hand game shop. The price was right.. yet.. I came to find out.. it is only for one player. I have a big family.. and we all like to play. This is only for one player. What a rip off! If I were you.. I'd stick with the Sims 2 game. Even the first Sims game for Gamecube. I found this game very very boring!

Fun, but can you have kids at all in this game?

I'm ----, just using the kids review because it's simple.

This is a nice game, but it just has TOO much focus on pets... In the Create a Family section, you can only make adult sims, no old people, no kids, no babies, nothing. Plus, when you create a family, you cannot make them siblings, wife, exc... They're all "roommates". The lots are gorgious, unlike the PC version where there is just grass, road, and empty horizon, but you cannot make an upstairs or a roof.

It is either very difficult or impossible to have children in this version of Pets. There is no "Try for Baby" option when your male and female sims are "relaxing", and 2 of my male sims have been abducted and neither of them were impregnated by aliens. (Normally, your male sims ALWAYS return pregnant after being abducted) My complaints to Maxis for being lazy with the console version of The Sims 2 Pets. Thanks a lot.

A Decent Game

I got the sims 2 pets as a gift from my fiance. Over the years there have been a lot of sims games for the various consoles. The sims 2 pets is a decent game. You get to design pets, sims, and their living enviorments. Out of a rating from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best I would rate this game a 7.5/10. This game does have a lot to offer even though at times it can feel lacking in some areas. There are a lot of objects to decorate your home and you can choose from a variety of different houses. However this game seems to just be focused on the pets and nothing else. You do have a downtown area but all the shops are for the animals, nothing for the sims. There is a lot of objects to decorate your house with but again a lot of the objects seem to be pet themed. Overall though this is a fun game to play. You can make any kind of house you want and you can have some furry friends. I just wish however that this game was more focused around a family of sims and pets instead of just the pets. Decent game would recomend it if you love animals.
