I have Empire Earth II . From my point of view the first EE it's better than #2 . The explosions, the smoothness, everything is better in #1 . I bought #1 after EEII . It's better, It's addictive, it's wonderful. If you like RTS you'll don't regret !
Great fun, but with a few concerns.

First of all, this is a fun game! Playing against the computer is actually challenging if you set difficulty to "hard". If you typically play RTS games against the computer rather than against other people, this is the game for you. If you want to move up from "Command & Conquer", this is for you. And, if you want a great deal, you can't miss at this price.
I deducted one star due to the combined effect of the following:
1. I play this game on what was a high-end Windows 98 machine when It was new. The game has been a little unstable, actually dissapparing in a blink and leaving me staring at my desktop! (The autosave is a great idea!) I recommend a newer computer, even though the box says Windows 98. I shudder to think of what happens to people who run this on the minimal recommended system.
2. When I quit out of the game, I am forced to wait for several minutes in front of a black screen while my machine calculates game statistics. At first I though the machine had locked up and I did a hard reboot. I wish I had the option of just quitting without calculating these statistics.
3. A lot of mouse-clicking confusion. Some common actions require all left clicks, and some require a combination of left and right clicks. I've played for hours and I still find myself trying several times to get something done becuase it seems so counter-intuitive.
4. On a moralistic note, I'm just a bit sad that seemingly the most effective way to win is to use your military to kill civilians. Civilians are the backbone of your civilization. The machine slaughters yours, and you end up using weapons, including nukes, on the enemy civilians to slow down your opponent. Just makes me feel a little uneasy. Good thing they're just objects in a computer's memory.
One of the most fun games since... Ever!

I love Age of Empires but after a while it gets old, and easy to defeat. This game will not get old and is not easy to defeat even if you cheat. From the very beginning it is much harder that Age of Empires. By harder I dont mean its any less fun. This game will give you a challenge. This game is recommended to those Age of Empires fans who really want a challenge.
Great Military Game, Not Much Socio-Economic Aspect

This is an excellent game, and is much better than Empire Earth II. It's fast-paced and simple: gather resources, build an army, conquer your foes. It comes with several excellent campaigns as well. The game spans all history, so it works for whatever type of player you happen to be. It even goes three epochs into the future. There's a large array of units, buildings, etc. The only cons with this game is that it doesn't have the cultural aspect of say Civilization III. This is a military game. That's why, in the event that all players are allied to one another, the game ends. But overall it is a very good game and an excellent addition to any computer game collection.
The best RTS game so far..

Well at first I thought This game would never even compare to the Aoe series, but this game is Much better than AOE.First AOE concentrated on only four epochs but this game, with its expansion, has 15 epochs spannig 500,000 years.this is a con and a pro cause its cool to play in 15 epochs but the game do not deatils each epoch as deeply as AOE.being an RTS lover, I think that detail is something that any gamer likes. But,hey not a game is perfect, but this the nearest to perfection in an RTS game. The AI(Artificial INtelligence)is Hard for unexperienced gamers but to gamers that are familiarized to AOE it is not that dificult. An Advice to begginers first read the strategy guide before going out and palying the game cause if you do yuo will not find fun in a game you cant win.

This game lets u recreate historic battles! i just finnished a massive carrier battle like midway i gave the comp more forces then me i had three carriers they had 5 i had 2 battle ships they 5 and so on but even with more ships if u use stratergy u can easily beat them 4 exsample the comp will send there entire escort fleet in 2 get in gun range i was able 3 stop 5 of the battle ships but the other 2 along with cruisers and destroyers broke threw my air net wich ment that my 2 battle ships 4 crusers and 11 destroyers would now have to stop 2 battle ships 8 cruisers and 19 destryes and one of the surviving battle ships was the yamoto class (the largest battle ship ever built) its seemed hopeless and there 5 carriers were undamedged i braced myself 4 the slaughter but i would not give up so easily i threw everything at the yamoto and they and they maneged to stop them but they could not keep them at bay 4 long but... this was midway and i sent all the aircraft on that island to attack there carriers the zero fighters were all gone fighting and devestting my p 47s wich left there carries defensless ha ha they sank within 2 minutes by this time the japenese battle ships had sank or severly damaged my escort ships all though they took one battle ship not the yamoto unfounatly and 2 cruisers with them along with a few destroyers my carriers were sitting ducks but with no carriers to return to the zeros soon crashed giving my planes air supremucy and the japenese ships were about 50 seconds from gun range but then it turned into a turkey shoot my planes sank the yamoto but they got one of my carriers before they left me the area oh and they also tryed to invade midway but thanks to heavy artillery failed wich reminds me of the bloody battle of iwojima it took me 4 hours to crush resistance on that island it was a bloody battle i mean i bombarded that island 4 15 mins (alot on the game) when i landed my forces on the beach the first time a counter atack pushed them right back out but with carrier air support the next beach head held out but still opossistion was fierce and i had alot of tanks landed near the end of the battle with nearly id say 75 percent of my infantry wiped out but still i was able to secure the island or a massive tank battle with 42 shermns vs 11 tigers the tigers can win easily but then all u have to do is launch a feint attack against one of there flanks then those tigers can be deafeated with a holding motin until close air support can arive and destroy them and there suporting infantry will have no armored suport and they can be wiped out in a timley fashion by drawing them out with snipers then bleeding them white against intrenched infantry or a samuri battle on an open plain this wich is also fun becase u can totaly encircle an enemy force like tieing a shoelace games is filled with battles like that and its a great value although some of the battles with cave men are not fun i mean come on cavemen oh u can also have a battle to see what would have happened if the soveits had attacked the americans during the cold war i was the americans and was being pushed back by alot of soviet tanks and troops until my b 52 bomber was called in to nuke there army wich i managed to barely out flank and form into a pocket thanks to the abrams tank ha ha but the t74s were going to break out soon along with alot of soveit infantry but the b52 droped a nuke and there ofensive stoped they retreated to some ridge but i was now the winner of the battle and with a clasic hamer and anvil movement they were crushed and before i start to ramble about the massive b17 along with fighter escort missions u can have im going to leave oh and u can also use the map creater to have wacky missoins like roman cohorts against samuri or snipers against cave men wich is very funny one more thing if u have 600 cave men against 75 samuri the samuri will win well im going now! but so much battles to talk about! but i most go i have no choice because im going to bomb berlin back into the stone age with 200+ b17s against the germans my forces were nearly cuthen send ground forces in like rolling thunder its been a long campain t in half at the battle of the buldge but now the very heart of the 3rd reich is within my grasp after the bombing ill win 4 sure welp got to go
Great Game, but looks like the game was created in one day.

Its an awesome game, and the first time you play it you love it! Then you play Rise of Nations, and wonder if you got the wrong game. Empire Earth is really great, but throughout the game, I keep finding little things that could have been better. All the civilizations have the exact same military units and buildings, like a Greek temple is the same as a Babylonian Temple, there is no unique units or anything. The game gets boring because the only way to win is to destroy or build wonders, which really isn't that strategic. The buildings don't look good, and the graphics are not that great. The campaigns are nice, and at least keep you interested. I think getting the gold edtition was worth it, but i should probably get Rise of Nations Gold some time, i've played it before, and i like it more than Empire Earth. Empire Earth 2 might be better, but i'd play Rise of Nations and Empire Earth before you decide. Get both if u like, but RoN is probably the better game.
A game to enjoy for years...

This is a game for people who loves strategy. Here you are required to do right decisions faster than the PC. The game is rich and complex to learn. Also, there are so many kind of units to know. If you like to do some shootings this game is not for you.
I read some comments posted here and I think you can?t compare one game against another because they are really different, so give a chance for yourself to taste it. I still remember when I bought it,though if it was a good choice that time . And certainly It is a good choice.
Ok, let?s go with details. You can play this game alone or multiplayer. If you are having to plan in multiplayer I suggest to gain some experience gaming alone before doing it online. You have a tutorial and the campaings. All of the campaings are historical. Great stuff to learn to use the units.
Then you can play against the PC selecting a starting epoch and advance through our time and it is far more interesting because you can get here more fun. it depends how good strategist you are to defeat the computer in the least time.
I think found a reason why some people get discouraged. I noted after some serious gaming two things if you challenge the computer. First, machine has not delay assigning tasks to its units while we do. The other is machine doesn?t play fairly with their resources, while we run out our mineral and every resource the machine never runs out. So it can produce new enemy units although you conquest all mineral deposits.
My recommendations for those who started gaming with not so much success or for you who wish to start winning is Know the map, Know its geography and where minerals are and much more important where is the enemy, just at the begining. Select a good civilization and go ahead for your enemy. Start building Towers and a Temple the most close as you can build to your enemy bases thus obstructing their citizen advance and from those places build your army. It doesn?t matter if you are gaming in a big or a small map. you have enough time to complete building them. use your citizens to create a town center to consolidate your position. The rest is a matter of increase number and strenght your units for the final assault. Remember, first army units, army buildings, and then the rest.
Enjoy this game with this tip.
