I'm not sure what to make of Links LS Classic. It's actually just Links LS 2000 with about a billion add on courses (OK, I think it has 21). As a longtime Links fan, I have most of these courses already and I've recently upgraded to Links 2001, thus not playing LS 2000 so much anymore. I actually got this as a gift for someone else. I have to say, it's an incredible bargain! You can basically have an instant Links collection. What's better, if you ever move up to Links 2001 (or 2002, or...) you can convert the courses to be compatible with that version. In other words, buy this game to have an instant course collection if you already own Links 2001!
The bad news: The multimedia movies have been removed (I guess they were just a "look at once" kind of feature)
The Links 2001 course converter is not out yet (MS Tech support told me to look for it around 02/02/01 on their web site)
The good news: Links 2001 takes a higher-end system. I'd recommend getting LS Classic is you want a great golf game for a mid-power system.
If you are a fan of beautiful golf vistas, I can't imagine getting bored of this game any time soon!
Thank you Microsoft!

I have been running LINKS LS 98 for about 3 years now and finally decided I was going to upgrade. I went to the store and saw 2001 and after reading the specifications I realized I could not run it on my current system. Just as I was leaving the store, I noticed the LS Classic Edition and I have to say it is the best value I have ever seen in a PC Game.
Along with LS 98 I had compiled a library of about 25 courses. Now, not only do I get an updated version of the game but 8 or 9 new courses that I did not have! (Note: There are a total of 21 courses on the LS CLassic discs included with the game) If you have been hedging on buying a version of Links, or looking to upgrade from an older version buy LS Classic today.....you and your computer will be glad you did!
they ruined it

A trial version of Links 1999 came with my Win98 SE disk and I really got into it (...this, coming from someone who hates golf!). So, I did some research and found that Links LS Classic is actually just Links LS 2000 bundled with about 15 extra courses...and, since Links LS 2000 is the oldest of the links series that's still supported by Microsoft's online gaming "Zone", I thought "This is a no brainer" and bought it.
Unfortunately, Microsoft decided the way in which the ball is teed off was too easy in the earlier versions and made the proccess wacky, difficult and...not fun. Unless you like slicing the ball into the bushes every time, stick with any version prior to Links LS 2000 (including "Classic").

You have this game for sale? I assume it is compatible with LS2000? Does it have golf courses to be installed on my computer? This add tells me nothing about the product. I must be missing something! I have Ls 2000 and am looking for add on courses. Is that what this product is? If so I would like to buy it and try it.

The advertisement stated Links LS Classic (Jewel Case)...
What I received was two discs in white sleeves, no Jewel Case and no paperwork..
Unacceptable and makes me leary of using Amazon again...
