Buying a second laptop for 'total War' game series.

I bought one 'laptop' for the 'Total War' game series, loaded both 'Shogun: Total War' game series, and 'Medieval'. With a 40GB harddrive, you only get something like 13.9GB total capacity and 4.22GB free space. These games eat alot of space on your harddrive,so I bought something you can tuck away for a long period of time, and will not take to much storage space in the closet. I'm thinking about buying a second 'laptop' for the 'Rome: Total War' game series. The thing here is to never use the laptop for the 'internet',the 'antivirus software' always messes up your system over time, because it always leaves traces of it self after you 'uninstall' the software. That also goes for 'gaming software' as well. What's the point in 'uninstalling' a game if it is permanently installed in your 'harddrive'. Same thing with an 'antivirus software',one year is 365 days, meaning you have 365 copies of that 'antivirus software' imprinted on your harddrive, and if you choose another 'antivirus software',you will be creating another 365 copies conflicting with the former 'antivirus software' that's imprinted on your harddrive. That's why people have so much trouble 'installing' new antivirus's. Every day that goes by,you create another copy of what ever you installed on your harddrive. Also remember, the new 'ATI Mobility Radeon 9600'(128MB w/DirectX 9.0) for the 'notebook' comes out next fall, heard it's expected to put notebooks almost on a par with desktops for the first time as serious gaming machines, next year.
'Dedicated' or 'Shared'(Integrated) Video Card!

For laptop users,I suggest 'Intel P4 2.6 Processor w/400 MHz FSB',512MB RAM Memory,8X DVD ROM,40GB Harddrive,'ATI Mobility RADEON 9000'(64MB Dedicated Video Memory). Remember to stay away from 'shared(Integrated) Video Memory' cards, they crash after two minutes, but the 'Dedicated Video Memory' cards keep on going and going, like the 'Energizer Bunny'. Make sure you don't go under or over '512MB RAM Memory',your game will crash after two minutes if you do. If you remember these tips, you'll save your self some money and heartache.

I haven't yet played the new expansion pack to the award winning game Medieval Total War but I love the series and they are by far the best games on the market. An expansion pack can only make things better by fixing the few problems that their are in the game and also to make more options open to the player. I recommend this game to anyone that likes strategy games.

The title for this new expansion pack is "Viking Invasion". It will be sure to bring you many fun-filled hours of shield-biting berserkers, Brutal Jomsvikings, and many new factions to add to the already fabulous game.

I dont think that Viking Invasion is as good as the Medieval but it adds new units and new features to the original game; not the Viking Invasion part, but the normal Medieval part becomes great after intalling this expansion.
Worth the buy

I am a huge total war fan, so for an expansion set of my favorite game to come out is obviously going to make me buy it. What is great about the expansion is that if you have played a lot of the Medieval: total war, you will notice liitle things that have changed. Of course you have the whole Viking Era, which is cool and all, but my favorite aspect of this is that three more factions were added to the original campaigns. I think it is always great trying out a new faction. Another cool new thing is that you are told in detail of your vices and virtues, which are rather interesting to say the least.
It's hard for me to give less than 5 stars for a game I like so much, I guess that is why it deserves 5 stars. I can't say I have any real upsets about the expansion...maybe price... But hey, I did buy it, so price didn't matter too much.

This game was great. The battles were amazing, and it what they use on History Channel's Descisive Battles. Wonderful graphics, it was like a Lord of the Rings movie. The only part I wasn't thrilled about was the board game-like map. It could have been a little more interactive. Anyway, if you buy this game, you will not be wasting your money.

Personally I like the changes. It has improved upon what was already my favorite strategy/war game. The addition of a better pre-battle interface is nice, you can actually organize your forces better. I also like the additional unit types, helps add color and depth to the game. So far the Viking period has been a blast and the AI of the enemy generals is much improved over the the last game. They are crafty and the high level generals are definitely a challenge. Overall I can't wait for the next installment of Rome Total War. Drooling just thinking about it.

This expansion is awesome. As soon as I could buy it, I did, and I am absolutely thrilled and glad that I bought it. This expansion adds new units to the regular Medieval: Total War game and adds special attacks and units for the Viking Invasion part of the game as well. Flaming arrows and artillery for Viking Invasion as well as boiling oil for the defending army during a seige. The historical aspects are dead-on.
If you don't want to buy this expansion, then you better wait for Rome: Total War, which will blow all other strategy games out of the water.
Go out and buy this expansion now. You know Shogun and Medieval were great, and this expansion is no less than great.

I'd been wanting this game for months noow and i finnaly got it. Most expansion packs are a waste of money, but not this one. In my opinion, the best part isn't the new campain but over a dozen new troops in the old game. The pre-battle ting also helps alot. Iwas dissapointed though, with the seige improvements. The boiling pitch looks like black smoke and arrows are on fire sometimes and you have no control when that is. But the good over wieghs the bad by a long shot. My overall point is: expect a fantstic expansion but not its own game.
