Most Accurate and Fun Gundam Game Yet

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 24 / 24

When I heard that Encounters in Space was supposed to play like Zone of the Enders, I was pretty stoked since ZOE was probably one of the best mecha games made for PS2, with the exception of RAD. But since I'm a Gundam fan, this grabbed my attention. Bandai has hit the nail on the head with this title. Fans of Gundam or mecha in particular will eat this up. First off is the animation for the series as shown in the game. The original Mobile Suit Gundam has been re-animated so it looks brand new and that just rocks. The sound effects and music is replicated to a tee. It is EXACTLY like the series, which isn't bad for us Gundamanics. The controls take a little getting used to, but they're not completely horrible. Graphics are good, but think a sharper, better looking Star Fox 64. The CG intro is great and is leagues better than that kiddie-pleaser SD Gundam currently on Toonami ( hopefully Zeta Gundam will be out soon and take SD Gundam off). The most impressive thing about this game is you can play as almost any of the Mobile Suits. Sadly, you can't play as most of the Gundams from Gundam Wing or G-Gundam. But they do have a good selection. Master Gundam,Burning(God)Gundam,Wing Gundam Zero Custom and TallGeese III. This is a game strictly for Gundam fans, but a darn good, if not, fun one.

best gundam game so far

this is so far, the best gundam game out of all that I have played (excluding Z Gundam that's being released in Japan currently). the game gives you the true feeling of controling a gundam on your own to explore the vast universe and the wars between the earth federation and principality of zeon. the 50 min. anime cutscenes that are incorporated into the game closely link the original gundam anime with the game itself, providing a fluid transition between storylines and battles... there are over 80 different MS you can use in this game, many are unlocked when you beat games in different levels of difficulties or sidequests. as added bonuses, you also get to use 6 different gundams from the alternate universes other than the original MSG, which greatly increases the replay value (gundam wing zero anyone? :P)

the graphics in this game are amazingly detailed, you can even see the marks and labels on each gundam if you look carefully; the improved particle effects in beam sabre combats and explosions give you a closer experience of what a war is like in the gundam world... usually, detailed graphics mean slowdowns, however you don't see a lot of laggings in this game, the battles are always intense, they won't disappoint you

musics in this game are remixes or rearrangements from the gundam shows, if you've watched MSG, you'll be pleased with the nostalgic tones and melodies, you can even hear each track in the bonus modes after you beat the game once, a feature that some of the newest games is lacking

the gameplay itself is similar to that of zone of enders, if you've played konami's zone of enders, you shouldn't have problem manipulating the controls and commands; but even if you've never played zone of enders, this game is still a piece of cake in terms of learning the necessary keys and buttons to grant you victory... in about half an hour, new gamers can master the controls in encounter in space and pilot their own gundams... there are different modes in this game, you can play as a pilot in the story mode, create your own pilots and machine and take on that of your friend's in the versus mode, and you can battle with others online if you have the network adapter... this is a wack load of fun whether you are a die-hard gundam fan or just a gamer that's looking for some action packed shooting and sabring game

overall, encounter in space is a great game that should be and will be appreciated by gundam fans; if you aren't a gundam fan, try it out, it might give you the first step toward mecha based action games... create your own pilots and choose your own mecha, then..... GUNDAM FIGHT, READY? GO!!!!

The best Gundam game of all time!

Ok, i'm sure you've heard this alot but, it's true this is the best Gundam game ever. Why? It gives you a heavy amount of variety in the Mobile Suits. Ok it gives from the 0079,0080,0083, eras, and G Gundam, Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, and Gundam SEED. Not only that but you can create your own character and build up their statistics through 8 different levels. And be able to use this character in the versus mode included in it. Also there is a Side Story mode to play as either of the two main Gundam pilots on board the assault carrier Throughbred. Plus there is also an Ace Pilot mode which allows you to play as one of your favorite pilots. Now I won't reveal the other information because otherwise, you wouldn't buy it. So go to toysrus, or the website here, and buy it. Trust me you won't regret it. But a little correction, the main storyline is NOT about 0083, it's about 0079 with Amuro and Char. Also what Megaman said was wrong, you CANNOT use Mobile Suits from the 8th MS Team, except for the Ball Type K, and no there is NO Victory Gundam MS's. Also you can use Mobile Armors, and space craft, such as the Core-Fighter and so on. There are a few hidden MS's but, if you've played, beaten, and have your saved file from Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo, you can play TV mode by loading the file from the game. This is an added bonus for those who bought it like myself(that game's good too), but for those who didn't you're gonna have to ace through movie mode with all A+'s.

Holy Freakin Crap!!! (I mean that in GOOD way)

This game is a continuence of journey to jaburo so you can expect something good from it. To tell the truth it's just a mix of all 3 games Fed VS zeon, Zeonic Front and Journey to Jaburo in terms of charactoristics like stratagy and graphics. Game play is great with several different stories and modes. Everything about this game is great but the on level inside the colony which kinda sucks.

OOOOOOOOhohoho! If you are reading this review that means you must be deciding whether or not to buy this game. I am going to tell you now that there is no better gundam game to date than this one. Two player could use some work, but one player I played for months! This game has I think 75 mobile suits. somewhere around there and you will become hooked. This is one of my favorite games.

I say this game is awsome expecaly all the diffent suits and armours you can use. But to win some are insane becase the mission(s) you have to win to get them it's hard enough to beat the mission let alone get an A or S rank. But im not leting that harm the games score. The back ground stories in ace pilot mode are well done but it is an annoying cowincadence that most of the Zion pilots got there star at the Battle of Loum. The gallery has all the mobile suits listed that you won, background music and all the cut scenes from the series used for the game. The hardest to get is a moble armour called the Big Zam which all you fans know from the Battle of Solomon. You have to beat White Base TV mode mission 3 and Shin Matsunagas ace pilot mission 2 and 3 and have an A rank on all those missions. To get TV Mode you have to have an A rank or higher on all White Base missions. I highly recomened this game for any 3rd person shoter fans even though it is an RPG and Fighting aspects are involved. The RPG aspect is primarly the abillity to creat your own character. The graphics ant as good as other games but the story (even thought it has a few blanks from the time on Earth) and the gameplay which realy matter. The only thing I found bad with the gameplay was 1on1 verses because your in space in a large area it is easy to lose each other in verses mode other then that i say the game is a perfect Gundam game.

White Base moves into Space

Do you remember the first Gundam game in PS2? It was called "Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo." After the events of the Federation taking out the Zeon from Jaburo, they take a trip to space to meet the 13th Autonomous Corps. That's where this game picks up.

You can play not only the stories from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, but later in the game, you can unlock the stories from the other series and play them. There are two extra Mobile Suits that are not from the series, which are the Wing Gundam Zero Custom and Tallgeese III, but they can only be played in versus mode.

The game is very nice and easy to understand, but so far the major flaw I found in this game is that all you can't land your mobile suit anywhere, and you have to be constantly flying in space (meaning no land battles, other than the level where you fight McQuve in Texas Colony). Overall it's still a very fun game.

Enormously Replayable

I've owned this game for nearly three years, and I can honestly say that it has never lost its value to me. There is just too much fun to be had in this. Whether you are trying to find alternate endings to stories or unlock all of the mobile suits, you'll be playing for a while.

The graphics of this game are high quality. Since battles occur in space, not so many resources have to be spent rendering the normal environments that most games take place in. This is given back to the gamer in the sense of finely detailed mobile suits and battleships.

Don't be fooled- it isn't just a pretty face. Gameplay can be very addictive. There is an abundant amount of single-player scenarios to take place in, with many famous mobile suit pilots to control. There is even a mode that allows the player to create his or her own pilot, and they are given a few missions to level up their abilities and skills. Save your pilots and put them in mobile suits to fight your buddies in multi-player battles.

After you finish a scenario, you might get lost in the media player, listening to the music or watching the cut scenes.

The only thing I could have wanted more from this game would have been bigger multiplayer battles. Three mobile suits seem to go by pretty quickly. But I really can't complain.

Gundam fans will lock themselves away for days with this game. If you ever Googled for cheap prices on heat hawks, this game is probably for you.

This is a great game for gundam fans

This is a great game to put it simply, its a must have for a gundam fan. Once you get used to the controls its fun to play but its a little diffucult at times. The redone anime scenes are great. Its best to do everything at least once in this game, I say this because you will earn more things. This game isn't like federation vs. zeon you will not be doing all those fancy moves. But it has more mobile armors and this is all space and one level with some air combat in the texas colony.

Heres a tip for the battle of solomon in white base mode
you will be told to protect two salamis cruisers but instead of quickly destoying enemy mobile suits to protect them, let them be destroyed or help destroy them, doing this will make the mission longer allowing you to earn an S.

And i know this is a horrible review.
