Why buy this when you can get it all on the web?

Seems rather excessive to have to pay $$$ to get a book that details the zones in the game when you can go to any number of websites and get the same content.
OK for a Visual Ref.

This Book is OK if you are looking for a visual reference. I have found several errors in this book for example the Dreadlands showed the MOBS to be between 1 and 10 in my copy of this book. When in fact the mobs in Dreadlands are in the 30+ category. I have found several other errors also.
Beware double check any information this book gives you!
Save your money--this contains BAD information.

The maps are worse than the one that came in the box in terms of detail--as in what is where, and no mob spots are shown. The desriptions are like a travel guide--fluff and worthless. The Mob levels are completely off. I am not making this up, the Dreadlands lists, right from page 97, Monster Level: 1-10. In truth, the monsters in that area are in the 35-45 range. Go there hunting as the Atlas tells you and you will be doing corpse runs a lot.
Simply put, this does not merely contain 'no worthwhile information', the information it contains is bad and will cost you time and lives.
Take [money], throw it in the street--you will be better off.
Only thing Good about this is the humor

The only thing good about this is the humours errors. They mis level almost every map. the maps are so useless it's comic. we've been using the web and our own scrachpads of notes to keep track of things for years, and done a better job. this book is a horrible joke.

I'll spare you the rant from spending money to carry this home.
Plane of Knowledge and Plane of Tranquility are only "maps" from the new expansion that made the list of "over 170 full-color maps" that were said to include them. Ring binding this 573 page tome would be a good idea, if it was useful in the game.
3 dimensional renderings of zones does not a map make. I suppose I should be greatful for the compass pointing North. There are no coordinates/grid to help in using the /loc in game. The renderings are not to scale. Minimum points of interests aren't pointed out. Even the few maps in the "official guide" books have more information on the zones they cover.
If you are looking for pretty pictures and little more, this is the book for you. If you need zone intel, including scaled maps and coordinates/grid, then I recommend you save your money or consider making a contribution to one of the web sites dedicated to EQ Maps/Atlases.
Much better than that

I have used maps from the internet for the years that i have played Everquest.... but i think this book is really good. The internet maps are useful but dont give the same atmosphere. The maps in this official atlas with the background stories make me want to explore many areas that I have never bothered with before. The 3D representations are not the same as the /loc method of mapping, but are still really good. I can recommend this.
Good if you play for the storyline.

This is by no means a cheat guide, if that's what you want I suggest you look elsewhere. This book is geared mainly toward the few people who play this game for the ROLEPLAYING aspect, which 99% of players seem to have overlooked and play this game as if it was another Quake or Unreal...
Anyway, this book gives lots of interesting information on the history of Norrath, zone info, NPC info, and beautiful maps. The maps are not like the grid-based, satellite view maps with mob locations and spawn times like you would find on most cheat websites.
If you prefer to roleplay and not just run from one zone to another killing certain mobs just to get your current quest item, then this book is for you. If all you want out of the game is to max out your level and get your epic in the shortest time possible, you're better off visiting a cheat site. Or better yet, go play a Final Fantasy and save money and bandwidth.

Unlike the maps from [another website], you can tell where you are at it appears. Landmarks are there for you to see. If you look at the map, you can see the camps and anything else you need. In keeping with the spirt of the game exploring is still needed to find some of the things you will need to know of. And unlike maps from Eqatlas you dont have to wait till the owner of the sight has time or the level to go into a zone to "draw" it out.
I spent over [$$$] in ink and paper to print out the maps from EqAtlas, should have waited to spend [$$$] on the offical one. LOL

If you just can't find anything else for the Everquest player in your life this book will atleast earn you some spouse points. Maps in the game are based upon and X,Y coordinate system (North/South & East/West), which for some reason, this atlas neglected to incorporate. Not having this coordinate system makes the maps available online, for free, superior for all but the newest players. As a fan and long time player I found the EverQuest Atlas a disappointment.
