With the recent slew of comic based films hitting theaters, video games based on the films are along for the ride as well. Most of these games hardly live up tp their licenses, but The Hulk almost succeeds where others have failed. Long time fans of the comic series will appreciate the game's storyline, which manages to tie the events in the upcoming Hulk film with events from the comic, and features appearances from Hulk regulars Betty Ross and The Leader. Where The Hulk shines is where most other games get repetitive: you basically run around from the beginning of the level to the end of the level smashing and bashing anything and everything you can. It sounds boring, but believe me, it is pretty fun getting to smash down walls, throw around enemies, and generally wreak as much havok as humanly possible. The basis of The Hulk is as simple as that, but where the game begins to sag are during the segments where you play as The Hulk's human alter ego Bruce Banner in a few stealth like missions that don't seem as well put together as the sequences where you play as The Hulk. Also, the level designs get very repititious after a while, and while some may wow at first glance, they can quickly become quite bland. The graphics are very well done, combining cell-shading designs and 3-D environments to give the game a gritty, comic book feel to it. The sound is substandard and your basic action game fare, but the presence of The Hulk film star Eric Bana providing his voice is a very welcome addition. Despite it's flaws, The Hulk is one of the best licensed (comic or film) games to come along this year, and next to all the other hyped licensed games (Blade 2, Reign of Fire, X2: Wolverine's Revenge, and oh yes, Enter the Matrix), The Hulk clearly outshines them all.
do not buy this game... rent it.

First of all the game is really really short. I beat it in three and a half hours if even that. I'm not saying it's a bad game the game play is really fun and the cell shading graphics are really well done. If you are a big comic book fan you might want to buy it but if your just looking for a good game rent it.
Enjoyed most of the experience

I really liked the story. Although I liked the movie much more. But it turned out to be a pretty enjoyable game, even my son liked it. Some bosses can be frustrating, especially when they have allies atacking you at the same time. The Bruce Banner missions required some patience but the soldiers sometimes seemed very dumb and you could sneak way to easy in some other points the camera angles didn't allow you to see the all of the guards and you got detected on those stealth missions. The cell shade looked cool. I also liked the fact you could destroy columns, vehicles, walls and use them to attack the enemies. I liked the mission where as Bruce Banner you disguise as one of the soldiers to sneak in the lab.
Another thing is that this game was more than I expected due to the fact it was a licensed game and they usually aren't good except for the Lord of the Rings the EA Games, although the one by Vivendi Universal was good, but not as good as the others.
Amazing Game!!

When I first rented this game, I thought it was going to be just another one of those games you pick up at the store and play. Not THE HULK. This game makes you feel like you're The Hulk himself. Amazing graphics and the levels are so full of non-stop action, you can't let go of that controller. I reccommend you go out and either rent or buy this game because The Hulk is a great game.
Big, green and ready to level buildings!

HULK SMASH!
Rampaging his way onto all three gaming consoles in the wake of the big summer movie release from director Ang Lee, THE HULK is a tie-in with enough explosions, punches, and shattered concrete to satisfy any Hulk fan. While it may not be perfect, it's still a great deal of fun.
THE HULK is at its heart a button-mashing, fight-everything-that-moves game. Like those that came before it, THE HULK has only the slightest thread of a story, and features the title character wreaking havoc on a succession of levels against more and tougher enemies, with the action punctuated at regular intervals by confrontations with devastating boss opponents. This isn't a bad thing, as the most satisfying part about a Hulk game should be the mindless swinging of fists and the delivery of maximum carnage.
With attractive, cel-shaded graphics that put the savage Hulk right in the center of the action, THE HULK does not skimp on the violence. From the first scene, Hulk wades into crowds of puny human soldiers with relative impunity, even as they fire automatic weapons, rocket launchers, and use high-powered electric stun rods to bring our hero down. The action falls firmly into the PG-13 category, so even when Hulk grabs a soldier and then slams him fatally into the ground with enough force to leave a spider web of cracks in concrete, there's no blood or other unpleasantness.
THE HULK's environments are destructible, and as the fighting goes on, more large chunks of stone, metal rods and so forth become available to swing or throw. As the soldiers give way to gamma-enhanced attack dogs and comic villains like the energy-sapping Half-Life, Hulk's ability to turn his surroundings into an arsenal is welcome. Facing an M1 Abrams tank, even as the Hulk, feels a little better when it's possible to tear down a radio tower and use it like a baseball bat.
Total playtime runs about six to eight hours, during which the Hulk scenes are interrupted by sequences involving Hulk's alter-ego, Bruce Banner, in simple stealth quests. These aren't nearly as satisfying as the smash-and-roar Hulk levels, but they are fairly straightforward and don't crop up often. The voice work here by Eric Bana, star of the Hulk movie, makes for a nice connection. Strangely enough, it's as the Hulk where the player will experience the most frustration: though he's powerful enough to handle most mundane enemies, Hulk is at a severe, often ridiculous, disadvantage in later boss fights. Much cursing and starting over will accompany these battles until hidden cheats are unlocked that give Hulk more of his comic-book edge.
Once the story-based fighting has died down, THE HULK offers challenge levels where the emphasis on fighting, fighting and more fighting. Endurance rounds allow a player to see how many baddies he can smash before succumbing to numbers, and another mode encourages maximum destruction. RAHHHHRRG!

I rented the hulk with my game pass from blockbuster because I heard it was grest but I ended up returning it within 2 hours to rent a new game but by the fourth level I got bored of it. The levels with Bruce Banner take no skill and are boring. The levels when you are the hulk are fun in the beginning of the game but all you do is beat people up which gets old fast because he has no special moves. Easy and medium are way to easy and hard is imposible. Do not waste money on this game even to rent it, just borrow it from a friend.

This is a decent game to kill some time. You do get the feeling you are the Hulk when you play this. There are many little soilders and guys who pound on you and it really won't hurt you too much, but when a lot of them gang up on you they can take you down.
The rage meter is a nice touch as well. The fact that you periodically get enraged and can do a devestating attack is quite Hulkish. The characters even react to your getting madder than usual, which is a nice touch. The problem comes when you start facing gama-thugs who don't go down easy and just keep coming. It starts getting really boring fighting them.
Now the bad part of playing as Bruce Banner. Don't get me wrong, Bruce is a nice touch and breaks up the mindless destruction, but his "hacking" mini-game just gets stupid. I won't spoil much, but at one point you need an "antidote" so you can become the Hulk again. You have to go to many, many machines and each time you have to "hack" the machine by flipping a series of numbers. I mean how many computers do you know that have a "back door" where you can see the password you need and have to flip numbers to equal that code and break into the machine?
If you REALLY love the Hulk or like fun mindless smashing at a very fast pace and can stand some of the annoyances it's a good game to own. Even stupid things like the "hacking" don't kill you if you fail, you just try again and again. You shouldn't get really frustrated. I'll leave it to others to say more of the good things, but I thought it more important to let you know the bad stuff incase it is a deal breaker.
A simple action beat em up

The Hulk is a fun game that you can just turn mind off while playing. The Hulk takes place after the Movie and is about Bruce Banner trying to stop the team of Half Life, Madman, Ravage, Flux, and the Leader. They have created a device called the Gamma orb which absorbs the hulks powers and can transfer it to another being. As the hulk you must smash and destroy everything in your path.
There is one thing that hurts the game though. THat flaw is the damn stealth levels. There are five of these (not including one that is part of a boss fight. With each of these levels you must avoid the guards as Banner and they always make some excuse (He was sedatd so he can't turn into the hulk, the Teleporter has yet to rearange his DNA) so you must control banner who hits like a sissy and has incredible annoying puzzles to solve (match the figures with the ones above). Also his voice is incredibly annoying and monotonous.
However outside of the stealth levels the hulk is a blast where you basically can beat the tar out of everything in your path. It's a fun game, I just wished they left out the stealth levels.
'' A REAL WINNER ''!!!

WHILE I LOVED THE MOVIE , THE GAME IS ALSO AS GOOD AS THE MOVIE.IF NOT BETTER..I HAD HEARD MIXED REVIEWS ON THE GAME , BUT DECIDED TO GIVE IT A SHOT.AFTER ONLY A FEW LEVELS , I WAS TOTALLY IMMERSED IN THE SHEER FUN OF SMASHING THRU WALLS ,AND WRECKING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT ! BUT BEATING UP THE BAD GUYS WAS FUN , PLUS YOU HAD THREE TYPES OF BRUTAL BEATDOWNS YOU COULD DISH OUT WITH ONE BUTTON. THAT IS AFTER YOU GRABBED THE BASTARDS BY THEIR NECKS FIRST ! SOME OF THE BOSSES ARE TOUGH TO BEAT, BUT YOU CAN BEAT THEM IN ANY ROUTINE SORT OF WAY.. TRY A PATTERNED PLAN OF ATTACK THOUGH .DON'T GO IN BLINDLY ARMS FLAILING ABOUT , THINKING YOU GOT IT ALL COVERED ..NAILING THEM FROM THE AIR IS GREAT, BUT IT IS ALSO COOL TO GET IN THERE AND SMASH EM UP ! AND YOU CAN'T ALWAYS RELY ON GRABBING THEM , CAUSE THEY MAY COUNTER AND YOU'LL GET A REAL BEATDOWN..THE HARDEST PESTS ARE THE SOLDIERS WHO NAIL YOU WITH GAMMA GUNFIRE, WHICH TAKES A LOTTA LIFE FROM YOU.NAIL THEM FROM THE AIR , BY POUNDING THEM WITH A FIST PUNCH, OR USE A SONIC HAND CLAP AND FINISH THEM OFF..ALL IN ALL IT WAS LOADS OF FUN!I PLAYED IT TWICE AND NOW GOING BACK IN FOR NUMBER 3..SO GET A COOL SUPERHERO GAME !AND GET '' BATMAN VENGEANCE '' TOO !!FOR HOURS OF FUN. IT WON'T DISSAPOINT YOU LIKE THE ''SPIDERMAN '' THE MOVIE GAME ...
