Repetitive and lacks potential for improvisation

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 4

I'm a big fan of console games that allow co-op play. I recently played BATMAN: RISE OF SIN-TZU and TURTLES. I can say that BATMAN is much more enjoyable co-op game. It has problems, for sure, but the potential for improvisation is much, much greater than in TURTLES.

Problems with the TURTLES game (in contrast to BATMAN) is the "invisible wall" problem -- you are locked into certain sections of the map without the ability to retreat, regroup or plunge ahead to get power-ups to help you deal with the numbers of bad guys. Another big problem is the lack of interesting combos -- it just gets so tiring using the same strikes to beat the bad guys -- BATMAN's a much better game in that aspect -- it's almost too hard to master all of the styles (much less execute them) but TURTLES is so clunky and unimaginative -- I might buy the BATMAN game to muck around with, but I'll never go near TURTLES again (and this is coming from a fan of the old Arcade game and comic books!).

Better co-ops can be found in Dynasty Warriors, Hunter: Reckoning, or even PS1's Jedi Power Battles.

TMNT is it really worth $39.99 plus tax?

I wasn't really interested in this game at first... but after thinking about how good the one for super nintendo was, I got it for play station 2.
The game itself has good graphics and a good story line... it is way too repetitive... and it gets old fast. You are limited to the four characters (Leonardo, Donatelo, Michael Angelo, and Raphael.) I think its better if you can choose from a variety of characters. Anyway, in my opinion, you are better off renting this game, since you cant return them at your local wal-mart :)

Good solid game

As a child of the 80's, I also was caught up in the big TMNT mania that was seemingly impossible to escape. I loved all the old games on NES and SNES. The newest incarnation does it tribute if you ask me. Good graphics, good gameplay, and not too violent for smaller kids. As far as the story goes, I love it even better than the old ones. People who rated this game badly because of it's lack of characters are stupid, because the new series is based more closely to the comics than the old cartoon ever hoped to be. Rocksteady, Bebop and Krang were NOT in the comics, ever (except the ones that were based off the TV show). Baxter Stockman was in the comics, but he NEVER mutated into a fly, and he wasn't the weenie he was potrayed as in the old show/games either. In any case the game is great, but the only thing that could improve it over 100 times would be if were 4 player co-op. That's about the only thing I'd change. Oh yeah and cut down on the turtles' stupid sayings too. Other than that, great game.

When I first saw they were making a ninja turtle game I was like...woh! This is so awsome! I looked it up, saw some pictures, and it reminded me of one of the ninja turtle games on the super nintendo. Since that game was awsome, this one has to be since the systems have gotten much much better since then. I will definetly check this game out when it is released.

4 and a half, actually. But missing major things

This is a good game, I'll give it that, actually, I quite enjoy it. It is a good number of secret characters to unlock, basically all the bosses in vs mode and splinter in story. The fightings pretty good, I particulary like luring all the bad guys on a car, jumping off, and making it explode, killing them all.
Now, the bad part, it lacks a lot of characters. Being based on the new series, it's missing quite a few characters that made the old one. First of all, shredder is the head honche, not the Krang, the brain in the gigantic body. Second, Rocksteady and Beebop, the two badguys who made half the show, don't even appear. nor do the mutants Shredder developed, can't rember their names, the wolf and the snapping turtle who appeared in the second movie. Third, wheres the gigantic eye globe that was Shredders base, aand Dr. Baxter, the fly. Last, it is at some points insanely hard, even at easy. fighting the robotic turtle with Mike or Ralph will make you curse, especially when he pulls out Donatello's staff and whips you with it from half way across the screen. Vs mode is almost impossible if you don't know that pressing circle will get you up quickly after a fall, for the computer opponents won't let you back up if you don't. Overall, it is a great game, a must for a strong turtle fan, even if the turtles have changed, and they have.

love it

Hey guys and gals born in the mid/late 80s and children of today enjoying the new series, the turtles are back and are kicking butt again! This game is what I've been waiting for for a long time. It's fun, but I think us older kids playing this will miss the old theme music and other stuff, but yeah the turtles are still here and the giant mouse who was their master, April, etc. The graphic style of the game is cool and cartoony which is cool in my eyes and there are cool cut scenes. It's cool game overall, but by all means not the best game ever. You'll enjoy this if you played other TMNT games, like other reviewers have said.

Alright but too short

This game has attractive graphics and a great idea but is poorly executed and not nearly long enough. After awhile I began to feel like I was playing a button masher and you eventually run out of new and different moves. Also the characters say the same things over and over again and it gets really repetitive. Some good and some bad, rent it.
