Well it looks like King Regis is turning his attention to the wide world of sports. Makes sense since his best friend is Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz. This game gives the four year old, You Don't Know Jack Sports Edition competition. The questions are much tougher. Even Regis' cracks when you get an answer right are new, and like the second edition (released earlier this year) questions don't repeat as often. I played six games before I reached $1,000 for the first time, and I only bought the game today. Get this game before the year is out, and yes that is my final answer.

Big Letdown

Even though the first two games had thier drawbacks this takes the cake as being the worst in the seires. Iwas excited when I first got this game but right from the start I knew I hated it. I love sports but they should never try this again. First of all the game is so slow not only the intro this time but everything and they give info after some questions to tell you why it is right. Regis goes back to his old tactics crude, annyoing, and obnoxcious. The questions repeat so it is easy to win the million. I was disgusted with this game. This is basically the first edition but somehow worse. Don't get this game it's a waste.

WELL,THE SPORTS EDITION FIRST OFF ELIMINATED SOME SOUND EFFECTS...THE DUM-DUM THING BETWEEN THE QUESTIONS,AND THE 50/50 SOUND,MAKING IT SEEM LESS LIKE ARE AUCTUALLY ON THE SHOW,SAME WITH THE 3RD EDITION. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THESE QUESTIONS,THE QUESTIONS,ARE SO HARD...YOU CAN START AT $100,YOU WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE A $16,000 QUESTION!! ONCE WE LOOKED UP A $64,000 QUESTION ON THE NET (OUT OF LIFELINES OF COURSE,BE PREPARED TO LOSE LIFELINES EARLY THE FIRST TIME YOU PLAY THIS,UNTIL THEY START REPEATING THE QUESTIONS!),AND WE FOUND THE ANSWER,BUT THE GAME SAID IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE! GAME IS NOT TRUE TO THE SHOW. BUT FUN IF YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT SPORTS,BELIEVE ME,YOU HAVE TO,TO WIN THE MILLION,CUZ THEY GET SO TOUGH!

not a million-dollar winner

On one hand, the questions are HARD. Harder than the WWTBAM 2nd edition. And they are varied in breadth and scope. On the other hand, the game engine tends to repeat questions much more quickly than WWTBAM2. Plus some of the musical cues (the ones which play before a question is displayed, to be precise) are missing. However, for the entertainment value, it's a pretty good buy. Not great, not a million-dollar-level, but if you love the TV show... it's not bad.

I thought this game was exellent. I only had two little things I didn't like: Regis talks to much and the game was tricky. It was considerably hard. you could only get it if they replayed it twice. I still think its a great game.

Sloppy Let-Down From the Previous Games

I admit I'm a big Millionaire fan so you can tell I'm being very meticulous in rating this game. But as a Millionaire "purist," I found the game to be a disappointment compared to the previous two Millionaire games. First of all, the graphics don't run smoothly as choppy animation and slower game-play drags the game down (a difference that was apparent when I played the considerably faster Second Edition game right after playing this one). That, compounded with the difficulty of the questions - even the first five which are supposed to be easy, makes it frustrating to repeatedly play the game. Also, when playing the Second Edition game, there seemed to be a mechanism where questions did not repeat in a five-question block until those questions were already used, something that is missing from this game. Of course, it would be truer to the game if questions were written specifially for the dollar level and not for each block where a $2,000 question could end up a $32,000 the next time you play it. Not to mention the omitted sound effects that make Millionaire what it is - the ominous fanfare before playing questions 6-15 and the 50-50 sound effect which were all included in the first two versions. They also apparently skimped on the "Phone-a-Friends," where now they just give you the letter of the answer without even mentioning the question. In the previous games the "friends" would at least mention the question if not try to reason it out for you. An apprent technique to save on producing these bits probably. It remains a mystery to me why they would mess with a recipe that has produced two great CD-Rom games before this. Good things I can say about this game is the improved Fastest-Finger round which although limits it to two players is more faithful to the show, and the "Ask-the-Audience" graph that appears when you use it just like the show. Plus, for those of you who can't get enough of Regis (and who can't?) there's new entertaining sound bites of him. Otherwise, the game demonstrates a lackluster effort in producing another Millionaire game seemingly just to make it out before the holiday shopping season, no matter how disappointing it is compared to the other two.

We've really enjoyed this game since we got it. I like that the Fastest Finger is better now - the way it was on the first one didn't make any sense. The questions can get tough but, hey, you don't want to win every time, right? A very cool game for sports fans but if you aren't into sports, stick with the regular game - you won't get far on this one!

This Millionaire Sports is for dummies. The questions are so so easy. I won the million the very first time I played it. I don't even watch any sports at all! I even had a five year old play this game and he even one the million the first time. This software is no challenge at all. If you are looking for a challenging game, this game is definitely not for you. I'm warning you, this game is really really easy....

Depends on your OS and age

I purchased SEVERAL of the Millionaire Games PC/MAC (dual platform), both Regular(3rd Edition) and Sports Edition. They were only $[...] each at Dollar Stores and perhaps that was the clue, that they would not be long in the computer age. For Middle School age they were great. As adults, as I got SO tired of when you 'bombed' you had to suffer through the whole introduction again.... But what REALLY UPSETS ME, is that I came NOT use them at all, anymore, since I purchased MAC OS 10 and if you have a PC, it will only work on older OS 91/98/Me. (For MAC users, it will work on OS 8.6 and OS 9(on iMac), but NOT on Classic--the dual platform of the earlier OS X.
