Does not work with Windows Vista

Ordered this along with the Atari 80 game package. Instead they sent me 2 copies of the same Activision Anthology. I tried repeatedly and the Activision Anthology does not work with my brand new Toshiba P205 laptop running Vista OS. I have 2 copies to give away. Might make nice coasters.

People have said some of the games don't work, THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TO MAKE IT WORK. It is WORTH getting if you played atari!!

Ok. I was skeptical about getting this. Half of the reviews said many of the games did not work but I got it anyway because I wanted to play Pitfall again and I got it really cheap thru an amazon seller.

I was disappointed at first when some of the games really didn't work but I looked around and figured out if you hit F2 which is listed under commands for reset they would all work. You do have to hit it for each game that doesn't work every time you choose it to play. I just thought I would try it to see if it would help and surprisingly it did. I don't know why it's like that but the games will work and if you don't pay a lot for it, it is not bad.

It's true you have to use the keyboard to select the games but it does not take long and is so not a problem to me as some say. It's the arrow keys and enter and it's really quick.

Also, yes, there isn't any instructions for the games and if you don't remember what to do you have to figure it out. But it IS fun. I haven't checked but someone probably has a webpage somewhere that tells about some of them.

As long as I could play pitfall though I would have been happy. There are some games I had completely forgotten about until now like river raid, it used to be my favorite. It is fun just to see them again. If you've never played these games, you probably wouldn't have as much fun as people who played them when they were young. They are slow, simple and graphics way low grade but check it out. I've never done a review before but I thought I should share about getting the games to work.

In Conclusion: I'm glad I got it. I give it 5 stars even though the technical glitch. Get it and Have Fun reliving the past!

...this would be a great retro game. Problem is, half of the titles won't load. Flat out - this game don't work. Period.

Might be nice if it worked!

BE WARNNED!!! This software did not run properly on any of my Vaio computers. And of course once opened, you own it! Wow, what a joke.

A Trip Back to the 80's

This CD-Rom is a definite trip back to the 80's when the Atari 2600 was the in video game console. The PC version has more games than the Playstation 2 version. There's all the Activision titles like Pitfall, Kaboom, River Raid, & Stampede. The new games added to the PC version include all of Imagic's games, two unknown Activision Prototypes, seven recent homemade titles. Yes, some private programmers are still creating games for the Atari 2600. Check atariage.com for details. There is 76 games in all. Playstation 2 version has only 47. There is also 8 songs from the 80's from Alan Parsons Project, Flock of Seagalls, Billy Ocean which you can listen to while playing the games. Original hits. These are different from the 12 songs on the Playstation 2 version. Game emulation is exact. This game was great.

Like, wow man! Totally.

I love video games with the word VIDEO in the title. Video Euchre? Ha. 75 games. Hidden stuff? It seems all of the Imagic games like Demon Attack are all here too. As well as some strange atari club carts and prototypes. Bloody Human Freeway replaces the chicken with a person. Haw! A big surprize is a game called Vault Assault which is a good knock off of an old arcade game called Zap. I can't figure out how to get the enhanced play modes working. Atlantis 2 just seems to be a faster version of atlantis with same graphics. darn.

Great Activision game emulation, sloppy interface

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 3

The good:
If you like the old Activision games for the Atari 2600, this is the software for you. The emulation is exact and includes pretty much all of the original Activision titles.

The game allows you to use the keyboard, mouse (to simulate paddles) or a gamepad and it all works well.

The bad:
The retro 80's interface is more of a pain than anything. You have to use the keyboard to select the games, and then have to go through multiple steps to get there. A simple list of games to select would be better.

Also, there is no documentation on how to play any games, and worse, you can select which game mode you want (the same as the game select on the old 2600), but there is no documentation on what the games are, so I hope you still have your old 2600 game documentation.
