This cd- rom game is fun for one or four. The many options include easy playing levels as well as expert levels of the game. Easy to follow directions. Good graphics also.

Several years ago bought this product since I loved Scrabble. Enjoyed it so much I purchased at least five more to give to friends and family. I am retired and wanted to keep my little grey cells working. Playing against Maven keeps me on my toes and I have been able to advance from beginner to intermediate to advanced. Great way to kill time and get a feeling of accomplishment as you work you way up the ladder. Highly recommend it. Fun to play with friends and family too!

MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH ENJOY PLAING THIS GAME. IT IS MORE FUN THAN THE BOARD GAME. IT IS MORE TIME EFFICIENT. WE CAN EITHER PLAY EACH OTHER OR PLAY A COMPUTER PLAYER. IT IS VERY INTERESTING. AND IT HELP WITH SPELLING AND NEW WORDS. I PLAY THIS GAME EVERY DAY,

I use scrabble as a tension release and my old scrabble laptop version was outdated and did not have the recent updates of words accepted by the official scrabble dictionary. This edition does everything I wanted. Also I have no one who likes to play with me any more as I have gotten better than them so I am able to play the computer at various skill levels.

Hours Of Scrabble Fun!

This is an excellent CD-ROM game to play against your computer ("Maven" in this case). There's no better way to play the great classic game of Scrabble than on a computer....no lost tiles to deal with; no tiles to shuffle; no scorekeeping difficulties. All of this is done for you with the CD-ROM version of Scrabble!

Plus -- The dictionary function is a very nice feature to have (although some of the definitions provided for certain words are hilariously strange and obtuse).

This CD-ROM game offers up good graphics, background options, and sound effects as well.

On a bit of a negative note, I feel that "Maven" has a distinct advantage over the average Scrabble participant, in that Maven ALWAYS knows those big, long, oddball-type words that you and I would never even consider plopping down. But, even so, it's fun when you can beat Maven, especially when your computerized opponent is set at a "high skill" level.

So, if you enjoy playing word games on your computer, "Scrabble 2" is a very good choice for sure.

And always remember, Scrabble-philes, "qwerty" IS a valid word! And so is "ai" (the proverbial "three-toed sloth"). That one comes in handy quite often, in fact. ~wink~

A Good Rendition of the Classic Board Game

I've enjoyed playing Scrabble for years, so I was glad that I found this version for my home computer. The graphics are really cool, and the background music makes the game more fun to play. Also, this version works fine on Microsoft XP despite saying that it required Windows 95 or 98. The installation was very easy and the directions were easy to follow. I give this game my highest recommendation. It is loads of fun and will keep you busy for hours at a time.

Works Perfect on XP

I read some commentary online where people were having problems running this game on Win XP. I have XP and haven't had any problems. I did download the patch from the atari community website before I started, so maybe that prevented any issues. But if you like Scrabble, but have a hard time rallying family members to play, this game is great.

Its very easy to use the interface, and single player games will definitely improve your Scrabble skill - particularly when you're stumped and you use the hint feature. The computer will give you ideas that help you see opportunities for wordplay, and thereby strengthen your game. The multiple skill levels are very helpful. Currently I play against the intermediate skill level and the games are very close.

I tried multiplayer against a family member, and found that as long as both parties have the patch it works great. My only complaint is that the font used for the chat window is slightly difficult to read, and I don't see a way to change it. That's a minor complaint, however.

When you consider the low price, this game is a good, fun, cheap investment.

This is a great game and much like the board game. I have the version from Hasbro Interactive, but it is the same as the one from Atari. A good game for people who are very good with words and great spellers (which I'm not).

I loved this game when I had Windows 98. It worked well on-line and off-line in W98, and is full of features to help you improve your level of play. A few features would not work when I loaded it onto Windows ME when I inherited a laptop running ME. But they were minor issues, and I played anyway. But that laptop died and now I have a new laptop with XP, and when I try to play Scrabble 2 on it, I just get a black screen that freezes my system. The problem may be the DirectX version in XP (version 9, maybe?), which would not let me write over itself with the version that comes with Scrabble 2 (version 6.1, I think). And God only knows what other things on my machine would quit working if I were succesful at replacing the newest DirectX with an older version. So if you are still using Win98 or ME, absolutely go for it. But until Scrabble is re-written to work reliably for everyone using XP, don't buy it for that system.

Contrary to popular belief this game plays very well in Windows XP.
