A ploy by Sierra to get all of us...to play TFC... well... if you play TFC now, its everything TF2 was suppose to be. They kept patching it, until it is now TF2. Its retarted. It very well does not exist. And if it does, I remember telling my friend how amazing it was going to be when I was in 8th grade. We use to talk about this upcoming game, which we were blood thirsty for.... I'm finishing my first semester of college this year...TF2 can stay in the minds of the Sierra, because this gamer, doesn't care much for TF2....
PS: TF2 Technology, MRX and all of that great stuff? well... its been surpassed... sorry guys!!

Vaporware, vaporware, vaporware.
Hello? I've seen demos for this thing since '98. Why is it even here? I thought the whole project died years ago. Why am I even writing this, you may ask? Because I couldn't stand to see this game hold 4 1/2 stars. What gives?

I'm a long-time Team Fortress player. I find this version to be a boring disappointment and an insult to the Team Fortress legacy. This could only possibly be fun, for an hour at most, for casual gamers as an introduction to the first person shooter.
The worst LAN game ever!

If you are planning like me to play OFFLINE and on a LAN network, dont get this game, it sucks for that, there is a LAN terminal area but no way to set up a LAN game network, everything has to run online and it says its DSL compatable but dont believe it, you need cable to run this bloody thing online anyhow! I have yet to play a game as the DSL speeds are too slow to connect and I have no way to play a LAN game like I do with Battlefront series of games, whats the use of 4 computers in my house if I cant do a networked game, this game is a waste of money, I am highly pissed off on this companies bull&^$&!
The law needs to be changed on opened software purchase returns and allot of these companies would get the idea to finish a game and make it playable by all before releasing garbage and taking my money, I am on a fixed income now and cant afford these software bastards stealing my cash with crap that wont run!
Couldn't get it to connect to any server

O.k. - technically, I shouldn't rate this game on how much "fun" it is - because I was never able to connect to a server to actually play at.
For some reason, the "Steam" portal - which is created by the same company - works fine, I could connect, download updates, all that fun stuff.
But anytime I tried connecting to a server to play Team Fortress 2 - it would never connect.
I'm not a network engineer, or a programmer - but would somebody please explain to me how the same company can create one program that is able to connect through the internet, but another program (that runs at the same time as the first) isn't able to?
To me that's just bad programming.
After spending several hours trying to get this game working, I just threw it in the trash - a waste of $14.
It will also make me think twice about purchasing ANY game form Valve, Half Life, Counter Strike, Portal - whatever.
I've played several other games which have been able to connect through the internet without any effort, or reconfiguration on my part. Why should I have to put in all the hassle to try and play this game?
I don't think that I should have to turn off my firewall, or delete other programs - just so I can play this one.
Sorry Valve - you lost a customer.
The worst lan game, EVER!

This game is the worst thing I've ever played. CS= AWESOME! The original Half-life= AWESOME! The original team fortress (or whatever it was called) AWESOME! All those games had extreme depth to them. This game has NO DEPTH what so ever. I just don't understand how valve could have lost their minds and made this junk? This game just lacks any kind of strategy. You run out and shoot then die. Wait 22 seconds and repeat. It's just as stupid as that.
Daikatana 2?

Team fortress was one of the most widely accepted and best loved modifications for the original Quake. Knowing that their program was bound to be a hit, Valve took the idea running and spliced it into Half-Life, a game based on a combo of the Quake 1 and Quake 2 engines. It was lit like wildfire and Team Fortress Classic mania spread accross gaming circles. As the Half-Life engine grew older, people began to cry out for more, and thus, the idea for Team Fortress 2 was born. Unfortunately, this was over a year ago, and after several incarnations, Team-Fortress 2 is still being hammered together. While dedication to a product is a wonderful thing, I'm afraid that this will turn out to be another Daikatana 2. An aged engine struggling to new ideas of gameplay. In the PC gaming industry technology is updated as fast as light, and unless Valve wants to develop a new engine from now until eternity, when this comes out it will look and play like a two year old game.
Way overhyped game

I will start my review with "I am sorry". I am sorry that I just don't get this game. It is a fun multiplayer. Quake and Unreal are some fun multiplayers as well but I don't think TF2 is the best game EVER! as some people claim. In fact, I had way more fun with many other online shooters. I play and have played PC and console. I had a blast with most versions of online Halo, COD4, Quake, Unreal. There is more strategy with these games, better weapons, gameplay, better maps...on and on.
*Pros*
- Innovative graphics
- Great sound effects
- Online play is protected from hackers, cheaters
- Large online community
*Cons*
- Maps are way too small.
- Repetitive gameplay with NOT as much strategy as other games. Shoot, die, respawn. Shoot, run around, respawn.
- Not much fun.
- Not very many weapons, Valve makes up for it by adding only 9 pointless classes.
- Way over-hyped.
A lot of these games are being over-hyped by blogs and other media. I felt the same way about Bioshock. If you want to play a game that everyone else thinks is fun (but really isn't), go play BZFlag on Linux and save a couple of bucks. Me, I am trusting my instincts. I have been playing games sense Super Mario Bros. Based on my experience, this game is just ok and not what others claim it to be.
