All i can say about "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" is this game is going to be great. With the Quake 3 engine and a great concept on its side this game will tower over all others. Seem as how it is coming from a traditional line of excellence starting with the original Released in 1992, "Wolfenstein 3D" wasn't the "original" first person shooter (experts say that an earlie game called Catacombs 3D, aka The Catacomb Abyss holds that title), but it is arguably the most influential and the first to gain widespread success. All in all YOU HAVE TO GET THIS GAME IF YOU ENJOY A GREAT FIRST PERSON SHOOTER!

I just played the multiplayer demo and I predict that Return to Castle Wolfenstein will be in the list of top games of 2002. The graphics are better than Counter-Strike. RTCW also has a interesting strategic element--the various professions (soldier, engineer, doctor, and lieutenant). And I like the World War II theme (Axis vs. Allies).
A must have game!!

Incredible eye-candy graphics, realistic stereo sound, well balanced weapons, no silly running and jumping abilities and real damage when you are hit.
But the real gem here is the team play. You NEED to have a team balanced with soldiers, medics, engineers and lieutenants. Because of their unique abilities (and limitations), it requires you to help each other (unlike the independent-semi-team play of Quake III).
This is a must have just for the online gaming (although the single player does look like it has a promising story and missions).

After playing the mulitplayer demo for the first time (One level for 4 hours straight) I must say that I am very very impressed by the job that Gray Matter has done with this project. Of course, id Software games are always groundbreaking, innovative, and just downright fun to play. I have absolutely no gripes even for seeing one simple level and the preview movie. I reccomend this game to anyone who likes war simulations too. It's not completely realistic, but when a member of the axis team comes down the steps and pins you in a corner with a chaingun.... sometimes the feeling can get to you of what it would have been like to be in the war.
VERY GOOD GAME!
Best Game I've ever played!!

Well, what can I say. I've been a fan of 3d-First Person Shooter games ever since the original Wolfenstein 3d back in the day. I'm now 22, and I'm fraggin' away almost just as much. I've played them all (3d FPS games), and I have to say this game steals the crown away from Quake 3. Quake 3 was, ever since it came out, the #1 game in my opinion. This game has just defeated it. It uses the same engine (albeit an enhanced form of it) that Quake 3 uses, but the realism is what really glues you to the screen on this game. I have a DSL connection, I get good ping times and the first time I loaded up the demo, I was amazed at how, you're sitting there loading up your weapon, standing behind a cement pillar on the beach of Normandy (the demo looks like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan), and you can see the tracers of bullets whizzing by you. As you run towards another cement pillar, the Nazi's tripod-mounted MG-42's start trying to annihilate you, and you see the bullets hitting inches in front of your feet, and they actually kick up the sand! Explosions rock the screen you're looking at depending on how close you are. The sound of the actual-WW2 weapons sound very realistic. This game is awesome, it is strategic yet 3d-action at the same time. If you fall from high up, you die. If someone starts shooting you, you die quick. It's great, and it is a true teamplay-based game. Thumbs-up to id Software for AGAIN creating a masterpiece :)
Nazi killing is good, but why the Nazi armband?

This looks to be a pretty (...) enjoyable FPS, albeit an expensive one. But what is with the Nazi-esque armband that comes with the Collector's Edition? That seems like a deplorable lack of judgment to me. I wonder if they can sell it in Germany...
But will I play it? Of course! Great graphics, good netcode, and dead Nazis!

This is a decent game, it's fun, you can kill american pigdogs, it's got it all. The only problem is, Day of Defeat...the halflife mod is much more fun, much more developed, it's not at pretty since it's using the ~4 year old halflife engine, but that, in my opinion just proves how versatile and modifiable valve's engine was. DoD has better maps than what I've seen from this game thus far. This is an ok game, but honestly, it looks like DoD done with a budget and bad mappers, I'm still going to buy/play this game, but I'll also continue to play DoD. That's all I have to say
