I have played this game a little bit at my friends house and loved it, so I figured what the hell. I went to the store and bought the platinum pack with all the booklets and the extra mission pack cd and everything. I get home and install it- it installs beautifully. My computer is a new p4 2.2 256 Ram with an okay video card, and that was far exceeding the box recommendations. I got into the game menu and begin the missions and right as I press the button to start the action, my computer completely shuts down. I don't know why it does it- I have well over the recommendations. Buy this game if you really hope that it will work- mine regretfully didn't.
Ok game...

I like this game. Here's why...
1.)The multiplayer games rock. 2.)The guns are great. 3.)The enemy AI is funny (nothing is better to see a terrorist run away yelling, "Grenade!" in a foriegn language. 4.)Killing... is fun. 5.)No hit points in this..all it takes is a shot to the head or a well placed shot to the body.
Things I hated about this game...
1.)Bullets will won't go through doors or walls like in SWAT 3. 2.)The CT buddies of yours are on..., because they sit there like lemmings as a... blasts them all to pieces. 3.)The enemy must be made up of super snipers, because they can pull off a head shot with a pistol a 100 yards away in an instant. 4.)The guns in this game should jam after being fired 1 million times...that would've been interesting to see in the missions. 5.)The gore is weak...I shoot someone in the face with a .45 and they bleed like they just got a paper cut. 6.)Grenades in this are not realistic.
It was cool at first, but multiplayer is all it's got going for it now.
near perfection tarnished by horrible AI

this game is so nearly perfect. i want to cry when i think about the game designers sitting around saying "hmm well the only problem is that the enemy AI can't get a half-decent head shot off with its target under cover while running." what in the world were they thinking? i mean the enemies do NOT miss. meanwhile your team mates cant hit squat and always fire only after one otehr guy is dead. I found myself going off course to take care of red or yellow team's work because i knew they were just going to mess up and die anyway. long range fighting is torturous, especially without auto-aiming on. the enemies always hit first at long range unless you're really really lucky.
Everything i havn't mentioned yet in this game is absolutely incredible. close-range combat is great. auto-aiming makes it easier but takes away most of the satisfaction of shooting a terrorist, you miss that frantic moment where you have to aim before you get shot, which is the best feeling inthe whole game. the sound of "tango down" is truly a beautiful thing to hear. one hit kills are pretty much guarenteed; when im not sniping i always use fully automatic weapons so i cant really say if the first hit is the one that killed the guy, but it really doesnt matter. of course this doesnt apply to sidearms, but you wont run into bruce-willis in die hard 2 gunfights where you're pinned down and have to spend several minutes fighting. someone always dies at the first confrontation.
The tactical planning is also loads of fun, orchestrating ambushes and the like. one of the best feelings in the game is seeing another team arrive just as planned, on the other side of the room, ready to uselessly stand there while you shoot everyone. the AI nevel lets you forget how bad it is. i wish i could just install a patch that dulled the enemy AI's aim and raised the friendly AI's reaction speed.
of corse the enemy AI is a pleasure to fight as long as you pull the trigger first, these guys are brilliant. i wouldnt say the AI is as good as the hugely underrated AI in Jedi Knight 2, but it will seriously surprise you sometimes.
An excellent bargain.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Rogue Spear Platinum Pack is a super realistic first person shooter that offers an enjoyable and challenging gameplay experience.
Gameplay - Rogue Spear is based on the tactical combact team code named Rainbow. Team Rainbow is called upon by the government to deal with cases of terrorism throughout the world. You'll have to rescue hostages, bug phones, and more. To help you, the game offers many Rainbow operatives for you team, lots of weapons, and a bunch of gagets. The game also adds a strategy element and you'll have to take time picking out your gear, team, weapons, and planning the teams routes throughout the mission. One bullet kills in this game. The expansion pack, Urban Operations, which is also included, adds the element of innocent bystanders which requires even more strategy. After you go through the single player mode, the game offers an excellent multiplayer experience as well. The biggest gripe with the gameplay is the AI. Different terrorists in the game will sometimes run into walls or walk right by your team. Your teammates aren't much better either. Overall however, gameplay is first rate.
Gameplay - **** out of *****
Graphics - The graphics in the game are mixed. They can be great. The scenery is vibrant and colorful with excellent detail. The different people, your team, terrorists, and hostages all look good with detailed faces and clothing. On the other hand, the game has some major clipping problems. If you shoot a terrorist in a narrow hallway, his feet or head will go through a wall and out through the other side. Other times fallen enemies will hover a few feet above the ground. These issues should be addressed, but they are certainly not game killing.
Graphics - *** out of *****
Sound - Sound will play a vital role in the gameplay. You will have to listen for the footsteps of terrorists to know when it is safe to continue with your plan. If terrorists hear you, they'll scream for help and you'll hear people running back and forth. Windows shatter and bullets shells bounce off the ground with remarkable effects. Voice acting is decent when you learn about the upcoming mission. There is little music during the missions, but since hearing everything is so important it is understandable.
Sound - ****1/2 out of *****
Bottom Line - The Rogue Spear Platinum Pack is a great deal. Not only do you get the original Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Rogue Spear, but also Urban Operations and a strategy guide which covers both games. You really can't go wrong.
Great Game, some bad points

This is a great game. I love the selection of guns, maps, and uniforms, but they can get boring after awhile. That is when you download mods such as BSW and NATO. The mods can do anything from simply making a few new uniforms to making all new weapons, uniforms, and maps. They have some good maps and some not so great ones.
Pros: Good Selection of guns, maps, and uniforms
Pretty good graphics
Great sound effects
I love hearing foreign terrorists yelling grenade in different
languages when one comes their way
Interface is really simple
Controls are pretty easy to learn
Cons: Sometimes when you shoot guys they fall through the stairs or walls
Terrorist AI stinks on the internet. Once I went into a closet and a terrorist was in there. he had a pistol pointed right at my head, but I still had time to turn around and shoot him
One Hard Game

This is probably the hardest game that I have played on the computer. I love this game because it keeps you on the edge of your seat in thinking that you are actually a real life member of the SWAT team. I had difficulties with nearly every level. Each level killed me at least 5 times before I would finally get the hang of it. This is a must buy for anyone out there who is into scary stuff. This game chilled my spine with the omnimous music. This game is even better with sub's installed in your sound system
AWESOME

Rogue Spear Platinum Pack is the BEST game of its Type. The Strategy combined with the Intense Action woks Great on Solo Play and even better on Multiplayer. The game doesn't require a super computer to run it. If You Enjoyed playing the Original Rainbow Six, You will get a blast out of Rogue Spear and Urban Operations, and if you are new to the RAINBOW games, Rogue Spear has a great training mode that will teach you more than you need to know.

Best Game Ever, well, thats sort of an over statment, this game isn't the best game ever, but is close. I'm writing this review, on the day the game is released, but I will write a second after I get the game. First of all, from what I read, and saw, this game has awsome graphics, they are much improved over the first Rainbow Six games. Second there are new things you can do with your Rainbow operative, for example, you can crouch walk, and you can peek around corners before puting your whole body around, this is somthing you couldn't do in the first game. Also there are new weapons, and operatives, and there are many new motion captured move, so when you shoot a tango he dosn't just fall over dead, he falls like in a billion doller hollywood movie. Its really great. Thats just Rouge Spear, Urban Operations, is about the same, except for a few thing that are different. First is that you are not really fighting in hugh over poullated, you only do that in the first level, second there are only 5 new maps, then there are 5 maps from the origanl rainbow Six, but with the new Graphics, and there are new multiyplayer maps, also there are 3 new guns, and afew new operatives. So all in all, I'd say don't buy them each on there own, buy them in this pack. Also if you don't have any rainbow Six games, I would buy the Collectors Edition, if you have rainbow six, and or egale watch, then buy this pack, if you just have rouge spear, and nothing else then don't get this get the other games.
Great Game

I have been a fan of first person shooters for a long time and Rouge Spear is, in my opinion, by far the most entertaining and overall best one out today. BE WARNED: This is not like other shooter games where you can run around a level shooting at anything that moves. Some of the levels might have only a few bad guys but will still take hours for you to accomplish your goals. Basically I would recommend this game to anyone who likes shooter games but would like to have them a little (or actually a lot) more realistic. For example in this game you cant run around a corner and see a bad guys and shoot him as he shoots you and hope his health runs out first. One shoot and your dead. In fact if you run into a room full of terrorist not only you but your entire team will be wiped out. The only thing wrong with this game is the multiplayer doesn't have a respawn so if you die in the multiplayer mode you have to wait until everyone else is done. This can be a pain especially when you first start to play the game and more experienced people pick you off 30 seconds into the match. Basically if you want a challanging game with great graphics and a more realistic twist then Rouge Spear is for you but if you want to run around and destroy things in either a multiplayer formatt or the single player I would skip this game and check out Unreal Tourny or Half Life.
Must Buy

I have been playing computer games since computers were invented. This is my favorite game of all time. The realism is just amazing.
For the people who say the AI sucks, try it on elite. On normal and vetran, enemy AI is okay, but on eilte the terrorists are brilliant. They will flank you and try to come at you from both sides, so you have to be careful to always guard your back.
The bad guys are very good shots, but that keeps it interesting. It would be too easy if they weren't.
My suggestion is for people to look at the map in the planning stage, but only make a plan if multiple teams have to enter a single area from two locations at the same time (using a "go code"). Otherwise use the "U" key and have your team cover/snipe as required.
Have fun.
Rich
