This game is a remake of Soldner(german for mecenary) Secret Wars with some added content. This game has fairly good graphics but does require an pretty good pc to run. You can create your own merc and chose a camo and logo. This game has a huge diversity of wepons, helicopters, jets, tanks, boats, and things like atvs and hummvees. Single player is basicly training for multiplayer. Single player has no story and only about 2/3s of all the avalible weapons and vehicals that are avalible in mp. The enemy AI is very primative. That is when your detected the charge toward you only to be gunned down and try to run you over with their veihicals.
Multiplayer however completely rocks. Games can range from sizes from 2 people on a server to 132 on a server. Their are the basic online games types. Deathmatch, team deathmatch, Conquest(similiar to king of the hill only with multiple "hills"), Capture th flag and varients of it such as capture the vehical or capture the helicopter and a few others unique to this game. The only flaw with mp, though not a flaw with the game itself, is that their is neverly realy any team work on a public server. Maps can be small close quarter combat urban areas, to dense forest, deserts,to plain and vallys that can stretch for what seems like hundreds of miles. Enviroments can be set be the server admin. Some are day or night. Others are covered in a foot of snow or pooring rain.
Weapon realism is as close as i have seen it in a game. The weapons look like the real things. In order to use a sniper with any accuracy u have to be prone or look through the scope for several seconds while crouching. Heavy machine guns have to be fired in short burst or while laying down or the recoil will send it flying skyward. There are some small details such as a sniper(cheytac LRRS) that should be a bolt action can fire in a semi-automatic setting, But the recoil balances it out.
There are different jobs you can have by buying a kit that fits your play style. There are things like scout, sniper, medic, scuba diver, engieneer, and others. Each effects what weapons you are allowed to carry(an example would be a scout cant carry heavy weapons because it would hinder his movement)and gives special equipment.
One of the greatest, most usefull and fun features is the ability to free fall and parachute from helicopters and planes(scouts have a parashute that they can use to base jump from hills). Each weapon and vehical must be bought from terminals placed at each teams base and through out the map.
This game rules if you are gona play online. If you arnt gona play online dont waste the moneyon it. Simple as that. There are alot more things in the game that i didnt mention. One more flaw is if your in America you'll have pretty high ping and alot of the people speak Dutch on the servers so it can be kind of hard to understand if you dont speak Dutch
Great Concept - Poor Implementation

Semper Fidelis - Marine Corps is in essence Soldner 2. They avoided the name Soldner for this release because Soldner (the original) did so poorly. It's a great concept - but poor implementation.
This is an incredibly customizeable battlefield game with up to 32 people multiplayer on a normal server. There are tons of gun types and a huge variety of vehicles including tanks, helicopters and boats. You can customize your character's look, clotihng, camo pattern, and much more. The maps are HUGE with incredible amounts of detail. This really should be a stellar game.
However, when you try to start playing, you realize what the problems are. The single player missions are rather awful. The AI is extremely poor. There are numerous bugs. People float in the air.
On one hand you can say the graphics aren't stellar - but on the other hand, given the size of the maps, it's rather impressive that you still get waving grass and leafy trees across that entire, gigantic space. The number of item models in the game is rather staggering.
However, with the maps being so huge, to have only 32 people in a given map makes it less fun. You could go quite a while before even finding someone else. They really should have opened this up for far more players.
There are many little details that show they were trying. When you kneel with an automatic weapon, the gun "moves up" with the recoil. If you lay down with it, using the bipod, the gun is much more steady.
You almost wish that they had worked on QA on this game for another 3-6 months. On paper, the game seems fantastic. The range of weapons, the size of the maps, the amount of customization is very impressive. But with actual gameplay containing so many problems, you quickly want to play another game that is more stable.
Maybe when they come out with Soldner 3 - with much more testing time - this will become a top seller. Until then, this just isn't ready for prime time yet.
Not worth it

If your used to playing quality 1st person shooter games like Delta Force or Battlefield 2, then you'll be sorely disappointed in this game. The quality is poor and is not worth the price.

This game is really bad. I picked it up because I thought it looked good and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. The graphics are very poor, the manual is quite unhelpful, the missions are repetitive and boring. Overall, I'd give it a zero. Don't waste your time. You're better off dusting off and replaying the original Ghost Recon than booting this up.
