this game is gonna be an awesome expansion for AVP2, you gotta buy it!

A 500-year old Predator without a walking stick.

Despite the rather odd storyline for this expansion, and even ODDER characters (the predator I've seen in the screenshots looks like a deranged Santa Claus coming out of chemotherapy, there was also that weird dog creature you fight, and the corporate mercenary is a girl, which is not so AvPish compared to the predecessors), the fact that the original game was so good makes up for it. I would also have to say that for a newly released expansion, the price is on the cheaper side. Therefore, if you liked AvP2 a lot, and don't mind odd storylines, I would recommend getting this.

great experience

as if the first avp wasnt good enough, now we have extra levels and characters to play with. a lot of people have already used the morph cheat in avp2 to get the predalien, but now its possible to use it normally. and being able to play as a female merc is an innovative way of getting a new fan base, as well as get the attention of its previous fan base. whoever said this game had an odd storyline and odd characters obviously has no sense, or taste in games. i give it 5 stars, only because they wont allow u to choose anymore then 5. =)

What a disappointment

As a fan of AVP2 I anxiously awaited the release of the Primal Hunt expansion pack. What a disappointment! Apparently Sierra/Fox/Monolith et al were more interested in their upcoming NOLF2 and contracted this project out. The new company's effort seems to be completely clueless as to what made the original game so great. It's atmosphere and plot, guys -- not simply emptying magazines into onrushing hoards of "aliens." More important than actually shooting are the times when you're sure you going to get jumped any second in a darkened passageway. Little things like unexplained explosions, bodies flying through the air, screams from "somewhere", blips on the motion detector add to a whole scary, beautiful atmosphere. A couple new available weapons (dual pistols, energy fleschette) are unnecessary and a little ridiculous. The additional "monsters" (indiginous life on the planet) could have been a good touch to explain how the "bugs" survive without humans and predators to face-hug and chest burst, but they are poorly realized. (Why don't they fight amoung each other or against the bugs who are their real enemy? They only seem to go after humans and Predators). In short, this expansion pack seems designed by people who had little or no feel for the original game. The graphics are a little better but even this is negated when you see a bug running around chasing his tail while you watch. The Predator missions are slightly better, but only slightly. The "Predalien" levels are a waste of time. There's no purpose behind them other than killing humans and solving puzzles in order to move around the halls. One level (the face hugger) even gives you an incorrect objective. It tells you to find a solitary Predator and do the face hug. What it really means is that you have to find the RIGHT solitary Predator. Any other will give a "mission failed" result -- even though you accomplished the goal. If you played the full AVP2 game, I think you'll know that Rykoff and Eisenberg are not exactly nice people. Primal Hunt has you working for them. There's much more, but I think I've said enough. Too bad, this could have been really good.

Very disappointing

As a huge fan of the Aliens vs. Predator franchise, I was eagerly awaiting the expansion pack to last year's hit Aliens vs. Predator 2. I must say...I was very disappointed.

There are a few changes from the main game, namely that you now play as a 'Predalien'(Alien birthed from a Predator), the Corporate Mercenary Dunya, and an ancient Predator. The Predalien has been given a new 'headbite' attack, to balance it out with the other Alien species. The Corporate Mercenary Dunya has a 360 degree motion tracker(which doesn't work very well) and new dual pistols. The Predator has an 'Energy Flechette', which is basically a wrist mounted laser, and the highly demanded 'Self Destruct', which is far less grand than it sounds and is only available in Multi-player.

And that's about it for the changes. The gameplay is simply more of the same, just harder. A few new indigenous creatures have been added to the planet, which are more of an annoying distraction than anything else...and they are rather poorly conceived, looking like something out of a cartoon.

The level designs are pretty interesting, but so many of the interesting aspects of the original AvP2 have been left out. For example, you will not fight a Predator throughout the entire game. One of the most challenging aspects of the original singleplayer experience was trying to survive and defeat a Predator. The game is basically you against endless tides of Aliens, or marines if you play from the Alien persepctive.

The story is a little weird, full of holes and dull. The events occur immediately before the events of the original AvP2, making this a prequel of sorts. It revolves around an ancient artifact that has the ability to control the Aliens, and all 3 sides want to get their hands(or claws) on it.

Overall, if you just want more AvP2, then you may enjoy this game...just don't expect much out of it. It's simply more of the same, with very little extra thrown in for a 'new' experience. And it is quite short...you could easily blow through it in 4-6 hours if you wanted to.

What do you do when AVP2 is a horror masterpeice, not this

I am a huge fan of the alien and predator movies, despite my age. When I played AVP2, I knew I was hooked. But this is a atrocity!!! partly because the same team that made the original was finishing NOLF2 when the expansion was proposed. What made the original great (horror after horror after horror filled with atmosphere), was traded for action. All you ever do is fight waves and waves of aliens the entire time. Its a shame as it could have been great...... of course on planetavp (a website) they say monolith is toying with the idea of making a second expansion. hmmmmmm

AVP 2 the best pc title gets a make over but not a good make over this is more of a demo the storys are 3 levels but if you like online play you will enjoy this but if you like the story it is not worth a single penny.

The game`s good, but the story isn`t good enough...

The sound/action/scene in this game is very GOOD.
If you are one of the AVP fans.
I suggest you buy it.

The only defect I feel is their story line.
When I finished the CORPORATE(a girl name Dunya) part.
It just ended up with the falling of Pod5.
You don`t know what happened to the 500 yrs old Predator, not to mention fight against it.

That`s a real PITY.

Besides this, I think it is a good game.

Aliens. Vs Predator II - Primal Hunt

Primal Hunt is the expansion to AVP2 which is a classic horror fps. Set in the future you get to play a female corporate, a predalien and a predator in three different episodes but with the same plot. It has about 12 levels with 3 missions for each species. The predator missions are the best and the longest. The story and voice acting are not as good as avp2. The gameplay is like the first avp, fast paced action with lots of enemies but with full save games. The level design is great and fun to play, but some of the corporate levels are quite badly done, there are not many health packs or armor available. The levels are very long but the load times are not very long and the quick loading is quick. I played it on the direct3d video mode and it runs fine, the graphics and sound are great. There are some new enemies, I liked the creature that comes from the ground. Primal hunt is a worthy expansion to avp2, It is not as good or long as avp2 but much better than avp1. If you liked avp1 you will surely like this but if you are expecting it to be as good as avp2 you will be disappointed.

Great Game - Way too Short Single Player Missions

Although the game this is based on is an excellent game, this expansion is going to disappoint a lot of people. The gameplay, what there is of it, is very good, but the single player games are extremely short. There are 3 single player modes, Corporate (Marine), Predator and Predalien. The human single player episode took me about 3 hours to solve. The Predator version took about 2.5 hours. The Predalien version took 4 hours, mostly because some of the room exits were very subtly placed and difficult to find. So for me, this expansion was around 9.5 hours total game time. For single player missions, this is extremely short! The original AvP2 single player games took over 16 hours each, to complete.

Don't waste your money until they add significantly more content...
