I enjoy playing this game. It is fun to let the game pick words I haven't heard of and the dictionary is excellent for checking words I think I remember is a word. You might call this a global word game for the new words. I cannot beat the game. It is great for one person to play alone.
No network play function but can play without CD in your computer.

Old version Scrabble 2 requires CD in the computer but has a LAN or WLAN multi-player mode. But this one does not support LAN or WLAN multi-player mode.

It is a nuisance to keep the CD in the computer each time I want to play. Like the faster loading too.

I ordered this game several months ago. I have had many hours of fun with it, but over time several problems began to occur. For one thing the game will end and I will get "game over" when I still have letters that I can play and options for playing them. This is especially frustrating when I am only a few points behind! Also it seems like over time the game begins to give me multiples over and over, such as four "i"s or four "g"s.It happens repeatedly, so it seems to be more of a glitch than just coincidence.

Most of the reviews I have read here, talk about the technicalities of its running on XP or a lap-top. I have a totally different perspective. I find that when I play against the computer at the Elite level, it cheats! Can't recall the words at the moment, but the computer used some words that were not in the Scrabbble 4th ed. dictionary, and challenged some of my words that were. Wonder if anyone else has had this experience?
Oddly primitive

I bought this as a gift for my wife who loves Scrabble and has often played the older Scrabble Complete. This newer version of the game has an oddly primitive feel to it and lacks some of the nice customizability of the older one. It is a smooth and very stable version unlike its predecessor so it gets 3 stars as a compromise. She prefers it to the Scrabble 2007 Interactive game which I also got her despite my personal impression that the 2007 Scrabble looks more polished. The AI is as tough as any of the versions when set appropriately and this game would be useful for a wide range of people, but still retains that odd, primitive, "childlike" feel.

I love the dictionary that can be turned on during play. I don't like the fact that the disk has to be in the computer in order to play the game.

Either buy the board game and play with "real" people. Or play yahoo literati for free online.

I purchased this version of Scrabble because of its updated dictionary -- the previous "Complete" edition doesn't recognize "qi" and "za", among others, as words.
Is it me or is the game rigged? When playing a higher level computer competitor, I often end up with a rack full of vowels. This happens so frequently that I'm forced to make several exchanges during the course of the game, thereby entitling the computer to invariably emerge victorious. Harumph! I've always enjoyed the game but my ego's been bruised and battered during what has now become a love-hate relationship.
Game worked for Vista!

I accidently bought this game for a Vista Home Edition computer and it worked perfectly. Good scrabble game. Good gameplay. I am happy with the sale.
