Don't listen to anyone who talks negative about this game. I never played the first for ps1 but either way the graphics for this game are way better than ps1 graphics. also this game provides true "off the hook" speed that sometimes defies gravity. to be honest not playing it is only depriving you of a super intense game for anyone.. Also whoever threw a baby tantrum about- "WAH' I don't like it cause the track is to thin, Wah" ..........Dude you need to play a game that is easier for your mentality...........What a Tard!!!!

This game, being produced by EA Big Games, left me thinking it would be super cool, definitely close to NBA Street, and especially the SSX Snowboarding games. Dang, I was let down big time.
The game is somewhat fun, and has good graphics. But it doesn't compare to the games mentioned above. Not even compared to the arcade snowrider games.
I wouldn't recommend buying this, unless you are a hard-core fan of this genre.

The game is fun and challenging, maybe too much for people who want to finish it in the first day and turn it for trade in the next day. I love off-road racing titles and this one is very challenging, you'll feel more lucky than good every time you win but is not impossible to complete. The game is made for people who enjoy real competition, are not looking for an easy ride can accept loosing. You can go trough shortcuts and performing stunts to get boost at your own risk and making those hard decisions can be fun if you like competition. There are not many snow cross games out there add this one confidently to your collection.
IT IS NOT THAT BAD!!!

This game is not as hard nor is it as horrible as some people claim. In fact, after a couple of weeks of gameplay I was able to beat all levels comfortably.
The graphics is not that bad. It may have some polygon-like shapes, however, that does not make it a horrible game. The graphics were cool and fairly realistic.
There are numerous stunts, levels, characters, and shortcuts to explore. Overall, it was fun to play and my only real complaint is that there aren't enough levels to play around with.

The worst computer "AI" in any racing game, ever.

There's a method a lot of developers use to keep a race tight, in a racing game - it's called "rubber band" AI. Rather than having each individual computer opponent actually race, as they might in real life, their speed is tied directly to your speed. If you slow down, they slow down. If you speed up, they speed up. In theory, this keeps races close, and exciting.
In Sled Storm, it makes them obnoxiously difficult, and takes any semblance of "fun" out of racing. It takes the "race" out of racing, in fact. You can hit every shortcut, every turbo boost, and not make a single mistake throughout the entireity of a 10 minute long race, and if you make a minor mistake at the end, you can go from 1st place to 6th in less than half a second, with no way to recover. This isn't an issue of making a huge mistake, and falling behind, it's an issue that no matter how well you know a track, and can exploit it, you'll *never* get more than half a second ahead of last place.
As a result, Sled Storm isn't a racing game, it's a game about not making any mistakes, ever. It's not fun, it's not interesting, it's a horrible way to have implemented the computer "AI", and it makes the game so utterly pointless and worthless that it's not likely I will ever play it again.

they just should have stayed with sled storm 1. Sledstorm 2 has very narrow tracks which are almost impossible to stay on.the only good thing about it is that you select the driver then the vehicle. So if you hate really challenging games stay away from this one.
not worth the petroleum used to make the CD

As the review title implies, I despise this game. Sled Storm for the PS2 is a huge disappointment. The graphics are ugly primary-color polygons with no texture, the tracks look like they were all stolen from SSX games, the "snowmobiles" sound like someone swatting at angry hornets with a rusty chainsaw, and the tracks are way too linear. No off-track exploration here, folks. If you see this game, just ignore it and walk away.

For some reason, EA BIG decided to make a third SSX game, only involving snowmobiles instead of snowboards. If you decide to explore the tracks looking for shortcuts, you will find yourself crashing upon contact with thin air. The tracks themselves are [similiar to] SSX tracks, with the ever-present clown and carnival theme that EA BIG loves to incorporate in all their racing games. the snowmobiles sound like garbage, the graphics are polygons. Crashing into thin air is the real frustrating part... there is an invisible barrier on both sides, on top and under the linear track that forces the driver to run the track like a roller coaster. this game is garbage, plain and simple. The only demographic I think this CD ROM would satisfy are kids under the age of seven. SSX was good, but EA BIG is really running the linear roller-coaster type racing games into the ground fast.
