Crysis makes me wanna Cry

There aren't many games that leave me in awe. Crysis is one of those games. I recently built my first PC, and I used this game as the benchmark for the caliber of components I would need. I simply had to enjoy this game in all its glory. This game (and the components) was worth every penny. It is truly a new benchmark in the FPS genre. The detailed environments are nothing short of amazing. The gameplay is totally engrossing and exciting. I'm running it using a quad core Q6600, eVGA 8800GT, Gigabyte ep35c mobo, 4gb of corsair DDR2, WD 500gb, Pioneer 20x DVD drive, and Corsair 650w PSU. Thanks to these components I've got all "high" settings across the board. Wow. What an experience. I thought Gears of War and Bioshock had great graphics (which they still do). This game has that level of realism that most games only dream of. See the other reviews for more specifics about the plot, but I can't really think of any gripes. The collector's edition contains a nice artwork booklet and an audio disc, along with a behind the scenes disc that takes you deeper into world of Crysis. Some may not need the extras, but they're nice to have.

If you want a great looking game and you have great PC gear, this is the game for you. Replayable: Yes. Fun: Yes. Graphics: The best! Game engine in general: Fantastic. Story: Not even close to original. Consistency: None.

Basically, the game engine itself is great; it's like FarCry multiplied by 100. The story, though, is very old hat and very predictable. The greatest problem for me was the sudden change in the whole feel of the game: once you enter the mountain, it's essentially a different game altogether-- disapointingly so if you liked sneeking around in the bushes stealthfully dispatching enemies on a beautiful tropical island. the last part of the game is a run and gun shooter with timed abjectives. (It's as if the first part is a sequel to FarCry and the last part is deleted missions from Quake 4.) Did I mention that the game spawns bad guys mid level, sometimes all around you? Very irratating if you're carefully clearing an area and suddenly guys spawn behind.

In short, I loved the game and replay it constantly. However, I only replay the first part (up to the mountain) and I would never say that it's flawless.

I built a high powered gaming computer just so I could play this game. I am happy to say it was worth the investment. The graphics are great and the gameplay is a lot of fun! The story is OK considering it ends in a cliff-hanger but it does make you want to see what happens in the next chapter.

If you don't have a good gaming computer, you will have to lower a lot of the game settings. This isn't to say it would be bad but you will be missing out on the eye candy. Even on my gaming rig I had some slow down in areas where there were a lot of enemies and explosions.

Overall, this is a great game. I will be playing it through many times.

I have enjoyed the game quite a bit and have finally completed it after about 12 hours on easy. (I am not very good at FPS games). I will say that there are graphic issues occasionally, and found that later in the game the voice synching is way off, (almost a minute in some cases). I have a decent gaming set up, by no means top of the line, but it pushes the game well. I will hope a patch comes out soon to take care of a significant number of bugs I encountered in the game. It does look pretty but if you want a polished product wait for a patch or two to come out.
Also I have not removed the DVD from the drive since I installed it, but I frequently get a disc not found error when starting up the game. I end up having to cycle the DVD drive drawer in and out.

A game with beautiful graphics but horrible glitches.

If you have a 8800gts 640mb video card or above you will enjoy this amazing looking game but if you dont you will get much less out of it.Even if you do have a heavy duty video card you will still see major slowdown in places if you have the settings turned all the way up.The story of Crysis is pretty standard,you play a super soldier with amazing abilities that is sent out to find whats going on with North Korean Soldiers and an alien object that has been found.The story is not the main draw of this game,it's the amazing Physics engine that is in it and also the breath taking graphics.If you see it there is a pretty good chance you can destroy it in this fast paced fps.Trees,Buildings,shacks,vehicles,you get to blow these things apart with a wide aray of modern and futuristic weaponry.What really holds Crysis back from being a perfect pc game is the fact that it has Glitches that involve freezing at times during checkpoints and other important events.Even though this thing is super demanding on the gpu side and has major glitches that need to be fixed with some updates it is still a must buy for any FPS fan.

I received this game for Christmas and cannot wait to play it. But...be careful of your video card. Although my video card plays all games great..Not this one. You need a high tech card to play this game. My card is a GEforce 4000 no good need at least an 8600.

Crysis rocks... if your PC can manage it...

There are so many mixed reviews about this game out there, but one thing is for sure, it has set a new standard for gaming graphics. I tried playing Half Life 2 after a few hours of this and the graphics on that game were not so superb anymore. Crysis Rocks....

Let me talk about this collector's edition. It has 3 dvds... one is the game dvd with all the installation files. Another has the soundtrack for the game. If you are into instrumental music then good for you. The final one is the bonus features. this dvd gives you some screenshots, 4 videos includign the making of crysis and some story boards used in the initial development and finally some concept artwork. 2 Booklets are included, one with art that is mostly avilable on the bonus disc, and the other is the standard booklet showing settings etc. i was not terribly impressed with this special edition over the normal but i got it as a gift so i won't complain.

the game itself had a few bugs in it. A couple time si was not sure what to do. for example i was given a mission to destroy 2 tanks and when i completed it there was nothing for me to do. I ran around like a headless chicken killing everything i saw until finally i loaded the game a little earlier and played again only to realise i was supposed to have gone to a house to get some intelligence before i got the mission to destroy the tanks. Another time i was supposed to rescue someone from a crashed VTOL but when i reached i could not open the door that was jammed. After loading the game a little eariler and tried again i noticed i was not the one to rescue the person but a team member who in the previous occasion decided not to follow me any further to the crash site. besides those and a few occasions where stuff seemed to be floating in zero gravity..the game was really great. My GF, who gave me the game, said that it was very much like FarCry but what does she know?

The graphics is stunning but at a price. Your computer has to be well endowed. I am running core 2 duo E6600, 4GB RAM, GeForce 8800GTX, Vista Home Premium. I set game resolution at 1280x768 with AA at x4. All advanced features are set at very high. I have smooth game play except one one occasion where alot of enemies were in the frame and several cars were on fire. That time it got a little slow.

This game is alot of fun and it gets very intense as it progresses. Don't be a wuss...play it on DELTA mode.

This game is definitely one of the best FPS on PC. With awesome graphics and an unique gameplay, it's just an experience that no PC gamer should ignore.
The collector package is quite good, with bonus and audio tracks. And the box cover is just amazing !

Of course, before buying this game, check that your PC can handle it. The official website of Crysis allows you to do that. Even in a "low" configuration the game is still pretty nice and the game experience is good.

The game is a bit too short, but you can restart a new game and never play the maps the same way, due to the different possibilities in each level.

Don't ask yourself if you should play it, just buy it and play ! There is definitely an after-Crysis and a post-Crysis for all gamers !

I really enjoy this game so far. I like the mechanics of the game, the graphics, the mission system, all of it. Its a very well done game.

As a big fan of Far Cry, I was really, really disappointed in Crysis.

The dialog is infantile, the AI is not especially smart, the minimal requirements for the PC are rather high, the story flow is poor, multi-monitor support is non-existant.

Point blank face shots do not result in a kill, and the suit is a stupid comic-book distraction.

The graphics and physics engines are great, but all other elements were put together by wannabe game designers.... and the end result is a very very "whatever" game that is so 2005.

Wish I had better news on this... please don't shoot the messenger.
