A dramatic difference between this one and the others in the series. Though just about anything is better than GTA3, I have to say that this was was less interesting than Vice City. In this game there was more customization and bigger cities but that led to bigger glitches and more sluggish gameplay. Aiming system and driving physics were all greatly altered from vice City to this one. And all for the worse. I had some strange glitches in which I would enter a building to either customize hair or change clothes, whatever it was the character would never come out. Some kind of strange glitch which forced me to reload a previous save.
Overall I was highly dissapointed with the game when it was working and when it glitched. I say, if you liked GTA3 then play Vice City but stop there.

Good game, but requirements are too high!

When Vice City was released on the PC a while ago, almost everyone with a decent computer could play it. I have a Pentium D 3.00 Ghz with a Radeon X300, and I was able to play full settings, at a resolution higher than 1024X768. Enter San Andreas: I have to play with Low Visual Fx and 800X600X32 in order to play! On top of that, this game looks horribly jaggy without anti-aliasing, which slows the game down. I guess its something you have to live with, but it seems a bit strange that a decent computer would have to play at such low settings. Also, I could do without the N-word and the F-bombs.

A BIG STEP BACKWARD FROM VICE CITY

GTA VICE CITY Was great.San Andreas was a big let down for me.I expect games in a series to get better not worse. This one is not even near as good as vice city.It is more like GTA 3.It is selling in the stores now for $15.00 which is to high.It is selling used on Amazon at this time for $12.00 which is still to high especially for it used.I purchased it new awhile back for $20.00,played it for a couple of hours.Decided it sucked and sold it it on Amazon for $14.50 and that was the HOT COFFEE version.

all new map and tons of territory brin this game towards the top of my list of fav games. one major let down for me was that when i hooked up my alienware usb gamepad, not all of the buttons worked, and there were a few compatabilty issues with my videocard which as yet to fail me since. hogs up cpu and take hardcore vid card to run it nicely but overall the same as other systems wih the added bonus of a custom music station (with annoying commercials added). As a fan of the ps2 version, i must say they pulled it together mostly ok for the PC and aside from the fact that i was not aware that this version (2.0) didnt allow mods, i believe this is a grat buy for and gta fan

If it ain't broke, don't break it!

I've been a fan of the franchise, having enjoyed GTA 3 and Vice City. But I just couldn't get into San Andreas. The altered aiming/driving controls took the joy out of the game for me. I even picked up a game controller to try to make it more playable: it helped, but not enough. I can't comment on the game as a whole, because I bailed after a handful of missions. The San Andreas map is too big for me to bother fumbling through it with these annoying controls.

Ver 2.0 is fun, but serious modders beware!

FYI, If you enjoy modding to spice up your GTA world and enhance replayability you DO NOT WANT TO BUY VER 2.0!!! Due to lawsuits over the "hot coffee" mod, ver 2.0 was released with new code that prevents any mods from working. If you want to replace the Banshee with the new Ferrari Superamerica, or the Landstalker with an H2, you need ver 1.0. If you don't care about modding, then sit back and enjoy the ride...

Very good, but...

This game was alot of fun, but the area being 4 times the size of Vice City wasn't necessary. Takes forever to get places sometimes. With a gaming area this big, should have more aircraft available to nab. Nonetheless, lots of fun!

This NOT for children.. as an Adult, this game is a blast, with only a couple tech issues, it runs great V2 ie this one, handles HDTV formats and standard but no custom reselutions.. which can be a problem for some of us.. and most of the mods online will not function with it.

but none the less, If you have ever wanted to steal a jet pack from area 51 put on a full Gimp suite (thats S&M stuff) and fly over the Las Vegas strip taking pot shots at elvis impersanotors, this is the game for.. well theres tones of other stuff too..

Having Fun
