WATCH OUT NO SERIAL NUMBERS!!

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 5 / 6

This item was shipped to me from Amazon.com with no serial numbers on the jewel case so it won't even install. It looks like people had problems with The Sims game as well. EA's website will give you a serial number replacement but it will cost you $10.00.

Of the four games in this set only...

..."Prisoner of Azkaban" is any good...the other three are older and have relatively primitive graphics and mediocre gameplay -- far be it from EA Games to go back and update older games to match newer games...however, what dragged the rating down to a single star was EA Games customer service...my set came without the serial numbers needed to install the games!...I emailed their customer service who then insisted I snail mail proof of purchase and a photocopy of the white strip on the back of the jewel case to their office in California...once verified they would send me the needed numbers by return snail mail...are they kidding?!...what a JOKE!...anyway, I went online and after about five MINUTES of searching found a "warez" site that allowed me to download the serials for free!...and also bear in mind that the games REQUIRE the CD to be in the computer when playing even if you transfer the entire game onto your hard drive.

Bad Idea!

I wish I didn't order this game. My children are fans of Harry Potter. I am sure the games are good but the biggest problem is that it came with no serial number issues therefore I have to pay MORE than absoutely neccessary! I had to buy new codes for my games so that they can be unlocked for my children to play. I ordered this in april and It is still unplayable because they want to inspect the cds to make sure it is not hot! It is not worth the trouble!

I recently purchased this pack. The graphics in the game are exceptional, right down to the images of the characters in each of the games. There are hidden treasures everywhere in the castle, particularly in treasure chests, suits of arms, vases or just about anything laying about in the corridors. The treasures are usually in the form of Bertie Bott Beans, Pumpkin Pasties, Chocolate Frogs, things that you can use to later redeem items from Fred and George's Magic Shop.

Though it is quite fun to cast spells, retrieve items and perform various other forms of magic, I was extremely displeased when after several tries, I could not manage to exceed in any of the first challenges in any of the games. One particular problem in the challenges was to jump from one pillar to another. As the game progressed, it became increasingly harder to jump without falling into, what I would assume to be called "The Pit of Dispair", as any time that one falls into this pit, they must again meet challenges that they have already exceeded at.

This game really put a number on my computer mouse and on my wrists. These games would be best suited for a child or adult who is suffering from extreme boredom AND someone who has a great amount of time on their hands.

Enjoyable even with Technical Glitches

Each of the games reaches a point where, in the words of one of the game's programmers, "poor coding kicks in." Rather than go through each of the points in the games where bugs surface, I'll simply suggest potential buyers go to EA Games' website and flip through the 4 pages of the technical support issues with the Harry Potter games on PC. If you still want to buy the set, then beware: at some point, there you or your kid will be, having a ball, and just about to -- [hey, what the..., why did the screen go black?!]. Caveat emptor.

I have tried two of the four games so far. minimal directions included. In order to get trouble-shooting help, you must go on line. Have not tried help yet. Both programs skip through dialogue too fast (halfway through a sentence, it skips to next scene, so you miss out on information that may be valuable.) Have a fast computer for using it on, not sure why this is happening.
Graphics are really good. action is also very good. Challenges are definitely tough at first.

decent, but not great

Not a lot of leeway in this straightahead, exercise after exercise, kind of game, at least as far as my child's gotten through the first installment.

It's true that most thing get better in our memories... HP 1 and 2 sucks a lot, really awfull game. I guess, at the time, not only graphics was acceptable but the now orrible gameplay seemed better since HP's story was new and fresh. Too bad... at least the third HP (p.of azkaban) is a nice game by modern standards, and quidditch world cup is funny in its easy way. Since this pack its not expensive you can go for it... but it would be far better to buy the single nice Hp games (and getting at least the booklet, in this package nonexistent) than take this compilation. Only for VERY hardcore HP fans.

Fun and challenging for ALL ages!

I hope that Amazon uses this review. I won't go into the games and how they work. This was the first PC game of this sort that I've ever tried. I liked the HP movies and books, so I thought I'd give it a try! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LOSE THE ID CODE!!!! I cannot stress that strongly enough. If you lose the seeming unimportant scrap of paper found in the jewel box (which is totally empty except for the play disks and this little piece of paper), you're screwed. You need this ID code to install ALL the game disks. I didn't realize the importance of this little piece of paper, and I lost it after I moved my computer desk and all its contents. I had installed the SS and, when I tried to play the Chamber of Secrets, I couldn't believe I had to use the number code to install that game too. I haven't had any luck finding an alternative to entering the code into the other games. This is a great product, you'll enjoy the graphics JUST DON'T LOSE THE ID CODE!!!!
