Since I was neither high when I played this game and have actually played worse games than this, I've elected to write a review on this game that doesn't claim it is teh awesome or rant about mullets.
So, let us begin.
To start with, this is a horrible game. Missions are pointless, some major problems exist in the game physics, and the story is a nonexistent. You'll find yourself wandering around with only a tiny hint of what you are supposed to be doing. Sometimes you won't even be told what is happening.
However, if you sit down with lowered expectations, you could enjoy the game. And by fun, I mean you will be left laughing at the horrible game often. For example, several times I've watched as a monster ran toward me, got to close to the wall, and started floating off into the air as he tried to ran at me. Also, the time slowing technique allows you to toss the final boss through the wall of your fighting area. Then you must wait as it comes back. The cut scenes in the game are also absurd after the first level. When you start, it actually seems to have at least a bad plot, but have no fear kiddies. There is no Plot. Anyone that bothered to get as far as the camel ride with the mini boss fight (or whatever that was) knows what I'm talking about. The randomness of that fight made the game for me.
This game is trash, but if you're at the flea market and see a copy of this game real cheep, you'll be provided with a few to many hours (depending on how much you do or don't blow at video games) of laughs and absurd stupidity.

Gameplay is weak, no plot, terrible graphics. I'm hoping 3D0 was simply allowing some high school interns make a game because otherwise these guys get paid waaaay too much.
Weak game overall, I paid $5 and was very disappointed.
Stop dissing it because it's not top-of-the-line!

This may not be the most advanced and seemless game out there, but that doesn't make it any less fun! The shapeshifting is cool and surprisingly fresh.

Made me feel like I had a mullet and skin tight holey jeans, with a 1980's firebird and the ULTIMATE night ranger and journey cd collection.
Synopsis: Fall back game that dates back to the 80's. There are too many better games out there. Don't waste your money. Unless you're stuck in the dungeons and dragons time of life.
3DO....... you amazing bunch of twits!!

Well,I think it's safe to say that 3DO is the leader in making bad games. After having played one of it's previous "masterpeices"
Dragon Rage,I should have expected this game to be just as bad.
What lead me to buy this game was the whole shapeshifting concept
which sounded extremely cool.... but don't let that fool you! First there is no shapeshifting animation. You just go up to an icon and select yes or no to change into the diffrent creature. The one I found was the wolf like creature, but he almost looked completely identical to my previous form. The diffrence? His skin was now a dark brown(because of his fur) and two itty bitty points poked out of his mouth for fangs.
The camera angle definatly has some problems! You will no doubt find yourself in a situation where you will meet an enemy around a corner, and all the camera focuses on is the wall that both you and your enemy are now behind.
A major dissapointment was the fact that the levels are extremely short.Yes,you can take diffrent paths, but they are all
still short. In fact you can get to the second world (arabian) after going through the first two levels of the first world!Note
that there are only three diffrent worlds in the whole game.
The music was very average and the graphics (except in the cinemas) seemed blocky and cartoonish. The only real fun thing this game has to offer is the hack and slash aspect. The experience system for killing so many monsters is also nice.... but I would recommend playing Baldurs Gate before this. All in all it was a very cool concept that was exectuted horribly...
Save your money for something better

Please i am telling you, this game is the worst thing that i have ever played in my life. These other people giving them 5s and 4s were high or drunk because this game [is bad]. I have played many games that were bad but this one is the worst. Don't waste your money on this game, I did and i so hate my self for it. This game has no point to it at all. You run around killing this with no real mission. What kind of game is that, oh also when the boss came up you wouldn't even know that he was the boss. I bet him and then the game was over. Very uncool!! I tried to trade that game in i would of only get [money]. If you are looking for a new game i would wait for a good one. Don't I said don't get this game. Get Devil May Cry thats a good one but just DON'T GET THIS GAME!
this game is awsome but has has some down points to it.

This game is more of a first-person "shooter" than an RPG. The "quests" in the game lack any sort of depth. There is no real reason to follow any of the quests except for the main quest.
Pros:
.... hmmm.... wait.... let me think....
- oh wait I did like some of the spookier environments.
- you can save game anywhere.
Cons:
- Loading level after level is slow
- Game play is very very repetitive
- Shape shifting isn't really that interesting
- Quests don't yield much
- Frequent camera control problems
- Cheats do not let you acquire all the shapes so you have to play thru the extremely dull game to get them.
- Buggy- program froze on me several times.
- Unclear what some of the gatherable items do for you
worst game i have ever played

This is the worst game i have ever played. I bought this game with the reviews given here, and let me say that they must of been playing an other game when they where righting their review. This game is boring and not fun at all. The fighting in this game is the worst. You run around and chop things up with a knife. There no real mission in the game. I don't know what the point of the game was. The final battle was very very easy and no point of even trying to bet it. My 4 year old brother could bet the game. The only thing that i could say about this game was that thing the movie part of the game came on the graghics where okay not bad but not the best. If you want to save money don't buy this game. Get FFX
This Epic Game ROCKS!!!

This game came outta no where! What a pleasant surprise!!!
I don't know what dreamwarden was looking at when he played this game. I doubt he even played it through. "SHIFTERS" graphic's are as good as any other current PS2 title. The lighting and some of the atmosphereic effects are awesome...way beyond what you'd ever get on a PS1. The combat is actually very diverse because you're always getting a new character to morph, er... SHIFT into throughout the game. The movements of the characters are fluid and dynamic. Knockback and impact animations make combat even more realistic. The spell fx are as good as I've seen anywhere.
The game is huge. That, combined with the ability to choose various character paths such as a fighter or a spell caster enables you to solve the game taking different paths--being subject to different puzzles, enemies, and even different areas of the vast worlds presented in this game.
My only complaint is the story line isn't well depicted in the game, you have to decipher most of your motivation from the manual. And sometimes the AI characters 'fell asleep'...but that was rare. Perhaps that is part of the stealth mode for sneaking up behind your enemy and delivering a single devastatingly fatal blow. But, for me personally, those are minor quips. If you're done with FFX, GTA3, and DMC, then give this one a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
