It's not that bad, people were hasty to berate it.

Like a lot of really low reviews, when I got the game I was pretty annoyed at the game play, expecting something like the gameplay of Wii bowling but with more options and maybe a bit more realistic looking.

The only big drawbacks I can think of, really, are that the graphics of the characters are not that good, but otherwise is just the alley, the balls, and the pins; the characters are stiff and very un-life like. On Wii bowling, the characters are all cartoony, but move very fluidly. I also like the sound effects on the Wii... get a 8 or 9 pins and the crowd cheers; get a strike and they howl. Get a gutter ball and they boo.

But the biggest drawback is simply that the onscreen character doesn't follow your movements. You have to hold the Wii remote up in front of you, hit the button, and then just bowl, ignoring what your character does.

I think the big complaints people have is that they are accustomed to Wii bowling. The throwing mechanics are different... you have to go back and throw forward with a STRAIGHT arm, giving the twist starting at the bottom and during a full follow-through, with your arm pivoting at the socket from back to front with little movement to the side... a side movement is going to throw the ball off to that side, unlike the Wii.

It did take me at least 7 or 8 games to get the hang of it, but when I did, it started playing very naturally. I still had to keep playing to get in a rhythm, but really it became a lot more enjoyable.

The one huge drawback is when the "b" button gets stuck when throwing. I think another reviewer has mentioned it... you line up your shot, you take your time, you're all mentally set... and then it just doesn't go. It breaks your rhythm, and it can be really annoying.

Overall, though, for the twenty bucks I paid for this, I'm pretty happy with it, as a bowling game. I didn't like the character animation, but that doesn't affect the game play. I didn't like the lack of ambient sounds, but that didn't affect game play either. If they fixed those things, and the occasional stuck trigger, this'd be a five, easy.

Almost like the real thing

This is a great game, but don't expect it to be as easy as the wii bowling. You have to learn to play this just like real bowling. This is a game of skill, this game is geared for those that bowl. You start off with a house ball, and work your way to better balls and equipment. Don't give up, the game gets better. I love a game that challenges.

Take a little getting used to the game not quite the same a wii bowling but the challange is there. When you first start out in career mode you don't have a lot of control as you win league nights and then on to tournaments you go to pro shop to build up your stammia, strength and respect,I found this game simular to when I was bowling in a league, I'am 60 yrs old and I love what the wii has done for me.

Brunswick...Extremely average

Decent physics, sub-par development and refinement...terribly lacking career-mode and create-a-character. Multi-player is far underdeveloped, with no character advancement and confusing controls when using multiple wii-motes. I expected more.

wii sports is much funner

the game it self isnt bad but the play could use some work.
on the up side a lot better looking then the wii sports.
pro shop is nice.
on the down side to long to play a game the games are best of 3 takes 30-45 min to play one match
pro shop nice but you can use it unless you have played threw 1 or 2 turnies and provided you win at one of them.
quick play dont alow you to make 2-4 players all equal there are pregen players.
why dont the game companies have real game players test these things.
could have been so much more with a few lil tweeks.

Needs more work

I was looking foward to this game since I really like the bowling game on WiiSports but I was completely disappointed with it from the beginning. The choice of characters is non-existent. The graphics aren't worth mentioning nor anything else about the game. The only thing that we halfway liked in the game was the different conditions of the bowling lane (if it's freshly waxed or not) but we we tried compensating for the condition the ball didn't go as expected and we even tried going from one extreme to another and still little to no change...the ball did what it wanted to. If you feel you must try this game please rent it but no means it is worth $39.99 maybe $12.99 maybe.

Needless to say we're still looking for a bowling game but in the meantime I'll stick with the one that came with the Wii.

We had so much fun playing the Wii Sports version of bowling, we thought we'd LOVE this version. But it's actually too difficult for my 9 year-old grandson. He prefers the original version. The ball is much less predictable with Brunswick Bowling. Takes more practice and adult patience to master.

no fun for lefties

I loved the Wii Play Bowling game, so I was really excited when I saw that a more "official" bowling game was released.

I am very sad to report, however that this game is a complete failure.
1. The game's sensing is no where near as sensitive and easy to control as Wii Play Bowling. I put several hours into the game and still was unable to recreate a consistent hook spin, or time out different releases for varying ball speed. Not only that, but the game does not register left-handed hooks. In order to throw a hook as a leftie, I had to flip my wiimote upside down....but on the plus side, lefties can throw the most perfect straight ball in the universe.

2. You cannot use your Career mode character in multiplayer mode. In multiplayer mode, you must use one of the premade characters with the preselected equipment. This is a mind numbingly stupid move for the game. Half the reason I bought the game was to place my bowler against my mother in law's bowler just like in wii play--but with brunswick, we'd have our own balls and outfits, etc.

This game is a total flop, please don't waste your money on it.

Not perfect.......but still fun!

This game only takes a few minutes to figure out......the "oil patterns"
in the lanes make it more difficult than the Wii Sports version of bowling. There are other variables to learn as well....and from what I see,the people that are giving this game bad reviews are the ones who simply can't/don't know how to properly play it.It is a bit frustrating at times.....but it's certainly not the worst game.I do agree, though, this should be a $20 game(it's even less on other gaming systems). My advice----rent before you buy!

Very disappointed

I purchased this product and it doesn't work I have called the manufacture right after I received it but to this day 09/24 I still have not received a call back. I will never buy another product from crave. I would not recommend this game to anyone save your money wish I would have.
