Well it's no looker, but when you look at the huge levels, you can see where all the texture memory went, for a FPS on a console this game is huge.
I was pratically worn out playing it. It can get a bit repetative if you go for a 2 hour stint, especially if you replay on hard to get the medals and bonus features, and there's lots of bonuses to go for.
If you want some old skool doom style bloodbath without to much thinking, Sam may just be for you :)
Don't know what kreeps are talking about here.

This game is an instant classic. I'll bet no one on here never play it. Sam is amazing. I'll bet I'm the only one here who found the hidden sword. The guns are fun, but on top the huge building in the Metro level you find a sword (behind the crate nearest the edge). Hack and slash all night baby. This opens up the game to the next level. Forget everything else, you'll be addicted to this. Online mode is pretty good. I like the music on the dashboard. Thumbs up, way up. Don't lie.

Let me say I've beaten all 3 of the Serious Sam Games on PS2 and Xbox. The first one I never seemed to like that much. You know, the first one for the Xbox. It never really held my attention because I sucked at FPS games when I got it so it was one of those take-out-when-you're-bored-keep-buried-in-your-cabinet kinda games. After taking it out like twice every month at the end of the year I beat it and really didn't care for it. I did not even feel like I accomplished something, ya know the feeling you get once you beat a game. When Serious Sam Next Encounter came out it was a different story. In between the time I beat the first one and bought Next Encounter I had become an FPS fanatic. As soon as I saw it I thought:"Great!Another one to add to my cart." I bought it and was amazed once it began playing on my PS2. It had cooler monsters, more guns, better graphics(of course), and more levels(even after I became obsessed with FPS games I still for some funny reason don't like the first Serious Sam for Xbox). The music was cool too(especially for that Chinese temple level). Once I beat it it was back to the store to get enough money for Halo 2. Once Serious Sam 2 came on Xbox I instantly got it as you might have guessed. I just recently beat it(the Cecil level took me a LONG time because he kept blowing up all the rocket devices). Sure the graphics are better than Next Encounter and there's more vehicles and more everything it still didn't give me the satisfying feeling it gave me when I played Next Encounter even though Serious Sam 2 was an awesome game. Sure SSNE may not have all the good graphics, enemies, levels, vehicles, weapons, and to some extent, comedy that SS2 has but SSNE will always have a special place in the heart of an FPS fanatic. I regret ever getting rid of this game.

OK! This game does not look the best, but its very fun and controls great. And the online play is awesome! Played for hours and never got tired of it. All the online maps are great. I wish this came with a map editor like Timesplitters did. I bought this game new for only $14.99 and its worth every penny. Now if it was a $50 game then no I would not get it. I never pay $50 for a game anyway. Yes the Xbox Serious Sam 1 looks much better, but it did not have online play. So I don't now whats up with all the bad reviews. It seems to me that most games that cost $20 and below most people hate and think they suck. But I have bought tons of cheap games and just loved them. Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death is another $14.99 game thats great. To bad that game does not have online play. Then it would have been awesome. Anyway, if you have a couple games you don't play anymore then trade them in for this game.
Worthy title, budget price makes it all the better

If you have twenty bucks and you want to kill an afternoon, look no further than Serious Sam: The Next Encounter. The variety of guns gives you plenty of choices for how you'd like to annihilate the swarms of enemies coming at you from everywhere. I especially like the co-op multiplayer, and also the silly characters you can play as. Most of the enemies die in one or two shots, but the sheer number of them makes the gameplay fast-paced and intense. It's no Halo-killer, but it's definitely a good addition to your game library.
WAY COOL!

Serious Sam does it again, this being the 3rd installment in the SS series. I just had to get it for my PSX2 and its a Total Blast, new weapons and driveable vehicles. With 8 player deathmatch online, no online fees all for 20 bucks this game rocks and is true to form as always with the wisecrackin Sam and tons of enemies to destory while finding secrets and cool stuff along the way. Too bad it was so hard to find in most stores last week, but Sony lists its ship date as 4/29/04 so is it any wonder that only a handful of advance copies were shipped on 4/22/04.
But anyways if you have a PSX2 or GameCube, check this game out, its well worth 20 dollars and then some.
I like this game

I just read the one review and I dont give this game no justice. My best friend Sam has this game and I play it with him all day. My best friend Sam has reserved Halo 2 50 times so he needed a game to hold him down till he gets it so one day we loaded up in his moms station wagon and went to toy's r us. When we got there I nearly wet my pants when we got to the R zone I was overloaded with Joy so Sam bought the game and I havent stoped playing it since. So I got to go now so peace out dogs.

This game is sort of like a stress ball. After a hard day at school or work, you can come home to this game and just shoot the crap out of everything. People shouldn't take this game so seriously, because the purpose of this game isn't to be an istant break away hit, it's only 20 bucks folks! The purpose of this game is to appeal to fans that don't want a lot of talk, or even a great storyline, they just want to see stuff blow up, which we all need sometimes. In addition, the weapons make you feel like a bad ass, sam's commentary throughout the game is hilarious, and for a 20 dollar game, the graphics are great. If what you require is a first person shooter masterpiece, well any idiot should know to get Halo, and if you are a ps2 devoute like myself, then check red faction (the first one, not the second), and if your need is a gamecube hit metroid prime is one of the only mentionable gamecube first person shooter!
