Potential, but that's it.

In theory, running around in a skimpy outfit strangling people and cutting them in half seems to almost guarantee an enjoyable gaming experience. However, when this is combined with nearly impossible controls and direction-less gameplay, it will entertain you long enough to allow for some graphics appreciation and clothing admiration (if you can call it clothing), and that's about it. If the controls allowed for better accessibility, it could turn out to be a decent game, but as it is you will be lucky to finish it, let alone enjoy it.

LOVELLY STUFF !!!!

The character is really good. See a woman take the role of the avenger is veryy good stuff, bloodie, a little bit slow, but waht you want? She is a ninja, not Kratos.

This game is HORRIBLE. I don't would recommend this game to my worst enemy. When I got this game I was expecting a nice little rip off of Tenchu to play. I was sadly mistaken. In Tenchu there is the thing with the camera angle that sucks every now and again but in this game the camera angle is so frustrating you'll want to destroy your controller many times before you complete even the first mission. The battles are weak and you don't have very many things you can do as far as attacks go. Bosses are unbelieveably tough. (Took me at least 3 months to beat the first one but that is also thanks to the camera angles.) It also has a steath feature like the Tenchu series where you sneak up on your opponent and deliver a killing blow. There aren't many different stealth kills for one. Also they have a manuver where you can sexually arouse an enemy and get him to lower his diffence before you kill him. THIS HAS NEVER WORKED. I have yet to see this ability work as it is said to. All it has done so far is get me noticed and surrounded by guards. In the words of the Simpsons Comic Book Guy: "WORST NINJA GAME EVER!"

thanks

This is a really fun game. You play a hot and stealthy female ninja seeking revenge on a rival clan. The controls are not bad. The controls are actually pretty good, especially swinging on the wire. Good control is something I really value in a game, so believe me. This game would not be possible if it had weak controls (There is alot of acrobatics that you need to perform in order to progress). If you like games like blood rayne, you should give red ninja a try. This is a much better stealth killer then "manhunt".

I do agree that the camera angles can be a pain sometimes, but that hardly drags the game down to one star. People expect way too much from video games these days. if games are too easy people whine, and if they are challenging (like Red Ninja) people give up to easy and whine.

First I must admit I played this game all of about, 30 minutes, then spent 5 more minutes praising my decision to rented it, rather than wasting $10 that could have gone to important things like, uh, wax paper and WD-40.

I consider myself someone who can see the good through the bad, but as someone once kindly pointed out to me, I have a "low frustration" level. In english, that means I don't like wasting my time, which is what I felt like I was doing with this game.

Although this game has many flaws, I'm going to focus on the ones I feel is most fundamental to it's downfall:

The camera and controls:

I list these together because they're close neighbors with regard to this problem.

Being a PC-Gaming Veteran, I like customizable controls and a camera angle that benefits game play. However, this game boasts two options: vibration on/off and invert on/off. Mind you, the invert applies to up/down looking, left/right is inverted as well, without an option to alter this. To me, this shows a lack in consideration for the customer, as games such as 007 are known to offer 4, 5, 6 and more presets for you to choose from.

There is no form of wall-shooting (such as in The GodFather), though you can aim, with two problems. The first problem is that the aim sight doesn't line up with the characters eyes, by this I mean just because something is in your line of sight, doesn't mean when you aim the wall on your left/right wont block you. The second problem is you can't move while aiming, so when you incur the first problem, you must de-aim, alter stance and re-aim, sometimes more than once. Mind you, this game has "stealth" aspects. When I think stealth, I think Splintercell, whose controls complement the required tactics expected to be employed.

In terms of camera angle, I find myself constantly struggling with the camera. Apparently, it believes it knows where I should be looking better than I. Most of the time this is just a major annoyance, but other times the view "locks" into place, by that I mean your pigeon holed into some obscure view that is completely counter productive. Ex: Your on stairs, trying to look around the corner, yet, all you can see is the Red ninjas backside. While this view isn't a total waste, it doesn't aid the process of killing.

By this point you've probably noticed that I haven't said a single thing about the gameplay aspect, what the game offers, etc. The reason for this is that I honestly don't know and couldn't care less. I believe character controls, and ease of use to be the foundation of any game, if flawed, the rest follows. Considering the array of available games for the PS2, I will be gingerly returning this cup coaster back to blockbuster's shelves and selecting a new title to play.

Mediocre, but still slightly fun

This game has it's good points and bad points.
Yay:
- The sexy ninja girls.
- The cool weapons.
- The unique puzzles.
- The hilarious violence.
Nay:
- The horrible controls.
- The headache-inducing gameplay.
- The lack of AI.
All in all, your enjoyment of this game relys on how long you're willing to put time into playing it. Not a bad game, but if you're craving hyper-violent ninja action, try Tenchu instead.

Nice concept. Lousy execution.

Clunky controls and lousy camera angles make this a truly frustrating experience. Boss fights are tedious and frustrating rather than challenging. The combat system could use some major improvements. Blocking, for instance, is nearly useless. The seduction ability only seems to succeed at random and is also next to useless. There aren't many games that I would throw in the trash, but I think I will make an exception for this one.

Red Ninja is an awesome game. much like tenchu but has afew of its own twists. for some reason the when the main charactor is running though once in awhile she trips over nothing not sure if its a glitch or what. One thing i liked abot this game is that the background story is true there realy was a kunoichi (female ninja) named Chiyome in the 1500s of Japan and some of the events in the game actually did happen. Some things of coarse are a little far fetched but hey its a video game is wouldnt be fun if they wern't

this should be an anime movie

Kurenai is a very sexy ninja on the cover of this game. It seems like a big upset to see her and her father attacked by a Black Lizard Clan right when her world was being distroyed. She was also hang by a wire but she survived and was rescued, she was adopted by a clan of her own.
