I was hoping to have a good sports car game but this is more of a soap opera than anything. The graphics are arcade like and more PS one looking. The control of the car is unrealistic.

This game is so much fun!
It has a great plot, and it's made like a movie.
It is also very diverse you see race cars from many different countries like the Australian V8 Supercars and German Touring cars and British Touring cars in America we can enjoy this racing on speed channel, but we don't really have video games of these series in our stores, the only way is to order off the internet and pay all that money for shipping.
And you'll see characters from many countries such as Ryan McKane and Donnie McKane are American, Bobby Scott (Ryan McKane's crew chief) and Nick Landers are from England. Ryan McKane's manager is American but as you can tell from the accent that he is from new york city.
Unlike Gran Turismo all cars in this game are race cars except for the 1on1 challenges which have powerful cars.
And Pro Race Driver doesn't revolve around 1 country (gran turismo has to much japanese manufacturers) you'll see cars from anywhere that has racing.
You'll get an amazing racing experience of a race driver in his fathers footsteps, which is common in racing.
i love this game

This game is ok, but doesn't come close to Gran Turismo 3. My major complaint is the handling of the cars. It's very difficult to get a car to have really good grip, even at maximum downforce. A lot of times it's like driving on ice. Ok, maybe I'm exagerrating a little, but the handling is nothing like GT3, and I actually have gotten quite frustrated numerous times. And this is my experience from using the Logitech wheel, not a standard PS2 controller.
Other complaints: There is no rear view mirror (only a red arrow pointing backwards to where the car behind you is), no qualifying, no timer telling you how far behind (or ahead) other cars are while racing, and the series races are only 3-5 laps. Starting from the rear (which is usually where the CPU puts you), it can be tough to catch up in only 3 laps. Maybe it's better at the Lola World Championship level, but I wouldn't know; I still haven't been able to get there! But instead of being motivated by the challenge, I'm more frustrated and annoyed by the game's faults and shortcomings. By the way, it's not because I'm a bad driver either; with the Logitech wheel, plenty of computer racing experience, and a good bit of real world racing experience, I consider myself an above average racer, and I'm still frustrated.
On the plus side, the graphics are good, the replays are cool, and the cars have great sounds, different for each vehicle. Having so many great tracks is also a strong point for this game.
But overall, I think I'll spend a lot more of my "driving time" on GT3 rather than Pro Race Driver.
If you're into touring car racing, this is worth a look

Handling doesn't compare to GT3, but once you get the hang of how it feels, there's plenty to enjoy. Highlights include the real tracks and cars from the British, German and Australian championships, and the interesting interface for choosing which championships to compete in. At any given time you can have up to 6 or 7 choices about how to progress.
The AI in the other cars is really great. This about the only racing game where I end up shouting obscenities to the other drivers for boisterous driving. They will get mad at you if you push them off, and will call you names!
This isn't GT3, but hey, sometimes you need a break from the cool, relentless efficiency of GT3, and crave something a little more rambunctious. PRD is a good option...
don't judge a game by its cover

I've been playing this for a while now (pal), and after a few early doubts (mostly about visuals and the handling takes some time to get used to)its grown on me alot. Don't buy it thinking its a 'spend money to tune your car' game. Its about racing against a field of very similar spec cars and some unpredictable AI (sometimes pasive, sometime raging!). Also with the range of tracks it helps to practice before a race because the same one won't come around that often.
Race Driver doesn't quite feel classic Codemasters but give the controls a chance - this game makes the most of your analogue controller. At first it feels odd but listen to the mechanics advice, it helps alot. Overall its the unpredictable races that I've learnt to love - tyre bursts, pile-ups on a blind bends.... :)

If your about to buy this game, then you should buy it. Don't listen to any of these reviews on here, they obviously haven't played it. This game is better than any other race game that I've played. The damage on here is so realistic, it's unreal. The Story line is awesome. There are a lot of cool cars and tracks on this game. So if you're a motorhead like I am, then you should buy it. Like I said before, don't listen to any other review on this page if they're talking trash about this game, because this game rocks!
What are they talking about?

I have 3 words. Fast and Furious. What are they talking about?? It seems as if they copied off of the plot of the Movie Fast and Furious. Father Burns in accedent of car crash at track as he watches?? I think it's a copie of the plot with a little twist. But still the graphics are supposed good so i gave it a 3*.

The game is not what I expected and I just return it to Ebgames. Sorry I would love to by a race game. But graphics and physics got to be right. I haven't see anything close to GT3 yet. Pro Race , Brunout they don't get even close.. I think F1 from EA is what best get close on physics and damage engine for a race game. But lacks of creativity. I few sad that codemaster game after all these delay and expectations is not that great game I thought. I do not recommend it. Stuck with GT3 until GT4 Or you are wasting your money!
