I bought this game yesterday, today I got to the last chapter, I beat the game. I loved it, very, very good graphics, good storyline, good everything. But just knowing that I spent a lot of money on this game, and then beating the game in less than 8 hours, made me mad, I shouldn't have bought it. Save some money, and rent it. If you have a lot of money and don't mind spending it go ahead and buy it.
Enjoy the war.
Just about perfect......

This is one of the best Gamecube games released so far. The graphics squeeze out every last bit of power the Gamecube has to offer. The gameplay is excellent and the sound effects are second to none. A couple levels are a bit "off course" like the bombing mission and dogfight, but they do not last long. The German and American uniforms & weapons are spot on as is the enemy AI. These guys take cover and stay there. Some of the animation is great, such as the time I tossed a grenade into an enemy machine gun nest and the explosion blew the gunner into a tree....where he hung in the branches. Very cool. As the last wave of games hit the Nintendo, now is the time to see what this little box is capable of. Call Of Duty 2 is about 80% as good looking as the X Box 360 version, and that's an amazing feat!
There are better games...

This game is just a rehashing of the older World War II shooters. It is much like the first Call of Duty, but I think I liked that version better, as you are able to move freely around in an environment. This allows you to find alternative ways to attacking an enemy, thus you have options like flanking, instead of walking on the path they want you to go on. I would suggest instead of this game, Medal of Honor: European Assault, or if you've got the money to burn, buy an Xbox 360 and Call of Duty 2. This version (it is not the same as Big Red One) is much more successful. I'm not talking about graphics, or other petty things, just the way the game was laid out, with freedom to go where you want; it was much better and very cool. Why they could not have made that version for the older systems does not make sense to me.
So if you are really interested in Call of Duty: Big Red One, I'd suggest renting it first (and maybe with Medal of Honor European Assault to compare) to see what you think of it before spending $40 on it.
We have done all this too many times before

Activision have never managed to recapture the magic that was call of duty, and they have fallen way short of the mark with big red one.
Graphically it is very poor, with water effects that would be more at home on a c64 than a state of the art console, the models are blocky and the graphics mapping is horrendous. Getting caught on bits of scenery that you are nowhere near is incredibly frustrating. The combat feels very old and second hand, and the sense of deja vu is overwhelming, especially the level when you fly as a b17 gunner. It is excactly the same level as the b17 gunner in the call of duty expansion pack. When you drive the tank, the turret no longer levels with the hull, you actually have to steer both hull and turret in the same direction to see where you are going.
But the worst feature of this game is the controller sensitivity, it is so badly mapped it makes even simple set piece combat a long and repetitive chore. To activisions hype they bombed on about the fact you would get to know your platoon as individuals and be upset when they died. Sadly they have even fallen way short on this simple task. I still have not a clue who is in my platoon or what they do, and I only know they have died because of the piece of sombre music that plays when they bite the bullet. Which leads to a useful tip - you can club soldiers on your own side to death and not lose the mission for friendly fire, as long as they are not soldiers from your platoon. This is handy as your own soldiers block your line of fire, or hem you in when trying to run from a german grenade, so one quick bash, and you can save yourself.
To be honest I really recommend that you avoid this game because it looks and plays a lot worse than the original call of duty, and it really does feel dated even tho it is a brand new release
I was blown away

This is by far, the best game ever, if u are a fan of the COD (Call of Duty) series, u will love this, better graphics, better controls than COD finest hour, which i gave a rating of 3.75 (out of 5, but i didnt put it on this site) and, not only do u get new weapons, but pistols, i cannot tell u how much fun pistols are, and machine guns, to carry around, how cool is that, im a big fan of submachine and machine guns. I was blown away by this game.

In Call of Duty 2, you play as a private who moves up to corporal and then sargeant. The graphics in this game are excellent. The game play is awesome. I recommend this game to everyone who loves WW2 video games.
Note for parents - the reason the game is rated T is for mild language, violence, and some blood. Not real looking blood though. The blood looks like powder.
Overall, this is one of my favorite games.

This game was awsome! I really felt like I was in the game with the first person view. What I really liked was the the bonus material. If you love to learn about war then check it out because it gives you descriptions of the weapons and other war materials. There were a few glithes and they were major. Like when I had to destroy flak 88s in small pits at Mons. After I set the TNT when I tried to get out... I GOT STUCK!!! The explosion doesn't kill you so the only solution is to take a grenade and hold it in your hand and then you die from that explosion. Also, this only happened once and will probably happen in any other game is that at Piano Lupo (A Level)I fell through the solid ground and I couldn't even use a grenade to kill myself. And in a mission on a plane when you get to a certain point the game freezes and I have to restart it but don't fear it doesn't do that all the time. Other than that I loooooved the weapons. You get maybe over 20 different weapons and could pick up an enemy's gun and get ammo from other guns of the same type. I really enjoyed this game!

My purchase was a birthday gift for my grandson. He loved it! He is fairly young and was able to reach the higher level quickly, so it may be too easy for some players. It was a hit with my grandson, though.

This is one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played and the best loking WWII shooter for the Cube. In fact this is the best game about WWII, I played this with my grampa who served in this war and he said it brought back alot of memories. He wasn't in the Big Red One but he became friends with someone who did after the war. Anyways this game is very fun but is way to short even when you set the difficulty to hard. But there's absolutly no reason to rent this just by it, even if they've been making WWII shooters longer than the war even lasted.
