The best Mega Man X game ever!

Mega Man X2 in my opinion is the best Mega Man X game ever made, besides X4 and Command Mission. If I had to rank the games, from best to worst, here's how I would rank them:

1. Mega Man X2
2. Mega Man X Command Mission
3. Mega Man X4
4. Mega Man X8
5. Mega Man X3
6. Mega Man X
7. Mega Man X7
8. Mega Man X5
9. Mega Man X6(I didn't know what this one was)

This game was much harder than the first one, and harder than most of the X games(except X4), In this one, you had to fight the X-Hunters, and a surprise enemy at the end! This game really rocked, anyone who hasn't played it really should. And if anyone is wondering what the unification that the X-Hunters are talking about, its the surprise enemy.

Dubble the Xtreem fun

This game is fun. It is extreemly easy though. I beat it in 1 hour. and that's 21 bosses. so if your looking for an easy game go to mega man x2.

It's OK but kind of wierd.

Mega Man X2 is an interesting and fun game once you get use to it. The bosses are much more difficult and need experience and ability to fight them. This was the first Mega Man I have played so it catches my attention. In X2 you would be better off if you beat X1 first to get the hang of the Mega Man X series. Not my favorite but not bad either.

The original Mega Man X for the Super NES is an INCREDIBLE action game that held up extremely well through the years. How does Mega Man X2 stand up? Not as fun as the first one mostly because Capcom took a backseat with the action and put the storyline upfront. I prefer action over storyline any day of the week, so you can bet it's disappointing to me. But because it's Mega Man, and Mega Man games have more action than Paris Hilton, it's fun to play no matter WHAT. But X2 isn't crammed with action like the first X game and that's just NOT RIGHT!

In X2, the music is less catchy. You don't feel like humming any of the stage themes after you turn off the game (except for one in a Sigma stage). Most of the weapons Mega Man receive from defeating a stage boss aren't interesting to look at (but at *least* a few of them have some power). In fact, some of the weapons are JUST as bad as the ones found in X3 (in terms of how they look AND the damage they do). You see, if a weapon doesn't look good it's important for it to at LEAST do some damage to make up for its awful appearance. In X2 you have weapons that are weak AND crappy-looking.

Each of the eight stages fall short compared to the ones in the original X because of empty levels (I *hate* when there's nothing around to shoot). Thanks to the special chip in the game you have to encounter a LOT of frustrating slowdown. Thankfully the slowdown mostly occurs while you're fighting a boss and NOT when you're busy dash jumping through the levels. Unfortunately the volcano level is loaded with obnoxious slowdown.

This isn't a big complaint, but there isn't a snow level to be found in X2. You HAVE to have a snow level!

You will notice other problems (some minor, others major) such as the boss explosions are colored blue now (instead of red like in the original). I hope you guys know what I'm talking about because it's hard to explain. After you kill a stage boss and watch the explosion, it's BLUE instead of red. I think red is better suited for an action game so I'm kind of disappointed with the blue-colored explosions.

The final fight with Sigma is a joke. Come on, it's definitely possible to defeat him without needing to use a single sub-tank, and you can carry up to FOUR tanks! There's a lot of slowdown fighting him, too (especially the second half of the fight). The difficulty fighting Sigma in the original X was JUST right, but not in X2.

The good news is that X2 is more challenging than the original (and X3 and X4 for that matter). Most of the challenge isn't in the boss battles, but collecting those sub-tanks and heart capsules which are quite often located in hard-to-reach places. Many times in X2, missing a sub-tank or heart capsule will result in an instant death, even after many hours of practice. I like this. Those early X games NEED a challenge!

If you want an X game with really catchy music, fun and neat-looking weapons, levels *loaded* with a variety of enemies to shoot and not much in the way of slowdown than please go with the original Mega Man X. The original beats X2 in nearly every way.

Plus the price for the original is much cheaper. If you're sitting out there angry because X2 is really expensive and you are eager to experience the game, don't worry, it's not as good as the first one. Plus, you can always experience X2 through that Mega Man game that was recently released on the Playstation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube where you can play ALL the X games. I'm pretty sure they kept the game as close to the original X2 as possible.

Almost as good as the first- but not quite

Enhanced graphics and gameplay make this game very fun to play. It carries on the story and doesn't really screw it up too bad.

Basically in this installment, you have to rescue Zero's parts from the X-Hunters- a band of outlaw mavericks determined to go through with the "unification" (which of course, we never find out just what the 'unification' is... figures).

Gameplay:

The air-dash ability is introduced. Nice touch. I really enjoyed the Bubble Crab and Wheel Gator stages. again the music is top notch in this installment. I liked the way that the stage select was formatted, however, I did NOT like the music (if you can call it that)that is played when viewing the stage select screen.

Gripes:

-The stage select screen music.
-Defeating certain maverick's stages does NOT alter other stages as with the original X.
-Story is kind of weak.
-Just exactly what IS the "unification" (we're waiting Capcom).
-X-Hunter stage bosses (well, the X-hunters) are boring bosses. I kind of wish they were a prelude to another stage or more bosses.
-Hey! Look! It's the same transporter room that was in Megaman2... and 3... and 4... and 5... and 6... Not very creative.

Pluses:

-You get to go back into one of the maverick's stages (Magna Centipede's) for the final confrontation.
-Cool bosses.
-Replay value (though not as much as the original x).
-Cool weapons. (Though I'm still a bit confused as to exactly what the charged up version of Crystal Snail's weapon is suppossed to do... anyone?).

Conclusion:

Megaman X2 belongs sitting on a shelf next to megaman x. The last of the really good Megaman X games (sadly).

Not as good as X3, but really good either way

Mega Man X2 is the second installment of this series, and says it in a strong way. It does not disappoint. 8 all new mavericks make their appearance, and this game also is MUCH more challenging than the original (which is a classic either way). The music is quite catchy, as always (it wouldn't be a Mega Man game without catchy music). It is also easy enough to rock out to (mostly). An uncommon SNES gem.

Mega Man X2(1994): Part two of seven.

Realizing that MM fans found the original MMX game to be a re-invigorating success for the series, Capcom answered the prayers of eager players and quickly pumped out a sequel for the following year. Here we have X2, the game that many long time fans claimed to be an undeniable classic. How does it fare? Get the lowdown:

PROS:
-IDEAS INTRODUCED IN THE FIRST GAME ARE BROUGHT TO THE FULL HERE. Now each and every piece of X's armor has its own unique, useful purpose. Fortunately, Capcom gave X the automatic ability to dash at the beginning, so that levels are easier to navigate from the get-go.
-ARMOR PARTS ARE EXTREMELY WELL HIDDEN NOW. It's true. Not only is finding each part difficult for the first-time-gamer, but some of them require MORE THAN ONE ITEM to get to. The best example is the Moth stage part. You need the radar helmet to show you where to start digging in the ground, and the wheel gator weapon to dig. Plus, the hole which you're supposed to dig is very unnoticeable! Very clever, Capcom.
-I LOVE THE ENERGY RECHARGE SPOTS. Once you have the X-buster and the moth weapon, you can find special "areas" where you can draw many large energy capsules to you over and over again. This saves time, and thus eliminates the tediousness in killing bots for energy.
-THE BEST BOSSES AND BOSS IDEAS OF ALL THE X GAMES. These bosses truly show Capcom in their creative and innovative prime: A small junk-rock reploid which grows into Morph Moth halfway through the battle, a long stretch of desert for fighting the speedy Overdrive Ostrich, Magna Centipede's ability to permanently make X weaker (for the battle anyway). These are just a few of the awesome bosses this game has to offer.
-THE ROBOT RIDE VEHICLES ARE MUCH IMPROVED. Well, one is actually a speed bike used in Ostrich's stage, but both that and the charging spike-claw armor make traversing the stages a more satisfying thrill-ride.
-The story starts out as kind of a drag, but it REALLY PICKS UP towards the end. Zero and Sigma are explained more than in the previous game. Also, the idea about X and Zero fighting is brought up for the first time. I won't spoil anything else.
-VIOLEN, SERGES, AND AGILE. Their random presence in each of the stage's mini-boss rooms gives the player something extra to do, in order to obtain each of Zero's parts and get the good ending. Plus, THESE BOSSES CAN GET PRETTY TRICKY TO BEAT.
-SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC OF THE SNES X GAMES. Most of these tunes are unique and memorable, such as the waltzy Crystal Snail tune, the rocking Overdrive Ostrich tune, and the dark fast-paced boss music.
-The introduction of the C4 chip, used to create vector 3D graphics. This makes for some interesting special effects and bosses.
-Last thing, THE DRAGONPUNCH UPGRADE IS THE GREATEST WEAPON EVER!! The first game had the Hadoken fireball, but this special move is far more original and handy (one hit takes out most bosses!). However, it is very tough to get and the only way to use it is to have a full life bar.

CONS:
-While the stages themselves are more cleverly designed, ONCE YOU GET THE BODY ARMOR, MANY OF THEM AREN'T VERY DIFFICULT TO BEAT. This was always the case with MMX games, but more so here than in any other game.
-There is only one problem with the mini-boss battles with Violen, Serges, and Agile. If they come to the stage that you choose, YOU HAVE TO BEAT THEM. Otherwise they will disappear forever, and therefore you will have to start the game over again if you want to get the good ending.
-Many people claim that this game has a stronger story than the other MMX games. THIS IS NOT TRUE. While by no means a bad story, it comes off as very standard for a MM game, with nothing really special about it, until the end. Plus, this is where the idea of killing/resurrecting Zero came from, to be used again in X6. If you want a killer plotline then X1, X3, and X4 is where it's at.

In the end, X2 is a stellar masterpiece in its own right, breaking off from X1's concept period, and enhancing them to new levels of gaming perfection. With very few flaws, this game ranks as one of the best in the series. I believe that X2 is accessible and easy enough to appeal to the newbees, while at the same time it gives the hardcore MM player enough challenges and secrets to keep them busy. 5 stars for an overall excellent SNES game. It's definitely one of my all-time favorites. From here, the series would take a bold jump in difficulty with X3, followed by a graphical upgrade (and a challenge-factor downgrade) in the following games. Now strap on your dash boots, get equipped with Magnet Missle, and go hunt down a copy of this game. You can't go wrong with X2.

X2 rules!

This game is, overall, better than the previous X installment. It has a good level of challenge, although once you get the hang of it, the game becomes pretty easy. The weapons, though somewhat dull and uncreative, are still pretty fun to mess around with. For example, changing the weather using your bubble splash, speed burner, strike chain, and crystal hunter in Wire Sponge's stage, and the priceless joy of making Crystal Snail chase his shell around by using the magnet mine on him. This game has awesome replay value, not necessarily cuz of all the secrets, but just because it's so much fun! The graphics are great, not like the first one where there wasn't really definition between colors. One of the best features of the game is the music. The tunes in X were cool, but the tunes in X2 are so cool I've died trying to finger drum along with the music (especially in Flame Stag's level). The only complaint I have about the game is the slow down. I personally think slow down looks pretty neat-o, but only when it's supposed to happen! It's NOT cool, for example, when you're trying to dodge junk being thrown at you by Morph Moth's cocoon form! Fortunately, that flaw is ruled out by the game's overall well roundedness. The gameplay, music, and number of hidden gizmos to find make this game a must have for long time fans and a best buy for people who are new to the series(too bad it's so expensive!).
