A blast from the past worth revisiting

Though some of these games - namely Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command and Tempest - have been featured on past Playstation compilations before (as well as updated into more modern versions of themselves), it's nice to see them again in this compilation. "Atari Anniversary Redux" offers half a dozen games not previously emulated for the Playstation: Gravitar, Black Widow, Asteroids Deluxe, Pong, Warlords and Space Duel. It's also a big step up for the vector graphics games, with two modes of resolution to make sure the game is as sharp as it can be on your monitor. The cabinet art is a neat touch, but luckily it can be turned off since it often compresses the playing field into an almost unplayably small size. The Nolan Bushnell interviews are nice, as is the slide show of Atari memorabilia, but then games are what really count, and they're represented well here.

In 1971,Nolan Bushnell invented the first video game,Pong. He decided to call its company Susiucchiee. But Later he changed the company's name to Atari because no one seemed to know how to spell or pronounce the original.I really love this game.Plus it also has interviews with Nolan Bushnell,Atari Memorabilla,Excerpts fom the book known as Phoenix and a free sticker.I have this on the Playstaion format.I love playing Asteroids,Asteroids Deluxe,BattleZone,Missle Command,Black Widow and Centipede but Pong was what made this disk great.Buy the 30th annioversary edition today.

Old School Fun!

In this day and age of ultra-realism, it's still a kick to play these games. The screen and controller editng was a great idea to make each game a great experience. It kills me when I see 12 year old's writing reviews on these kind of games, they have no clue what real gaming is. Sure, life is simple when you have mom & dad buying you games and letting you play all day. In my day you had to spend your quarters to keep playing, instead of finding a new cheat or crying about only having 3 lives. These games take "hand-eye coordination", wow what a concept. You don't need "killer graphics" to prove how good you are. I think some of you children should turn your ps2's off and worry more about your obesity than whether or not your gaming experince was satisfying. All in all these games are great for anyone, even the fat & spoiled younger generation, if you have the patience and skill for it. Anyone who played the originals will be very pleased. And for you youngin's that can't handle the "lame graphics" or not having the ability to cheat your way throught, keep playing your GTA and wining to mommy about how hard life is.

Fun Games, Bad Graphics

First of all, let me say that I LOVE these games. In fact, I grew up on them. That being said, I was VERY disappointed in this disk. I wasn't expecting "Final Fantasy like" graphics by any means, but I did expect to be able to read the on-screen type (score, instructions, etc.) I got right in front of the T.V., and I still couldn't read it. Also, the playing field and objects were SO small, especially Asteriods. I couldn't even see what I was doing (even with the cabinet graphics turned off). Warlords was probably the worst designed game on the disk. I couldn't even tell what was happening on the screen. The best designed game on the disk, by far is Centipede (my favorite). You can see this one fine, and read the type. It's really the only game worth playing on the whole disk. All the others gave my friend and I a headache. My friend said that the ORIGINAL Atari system had better graphics than this disk. That's pretty bad! Save your money...they didn't get it right.

Too old for this generation!

I like it but my grandkids only use it once in a Blue Moon...it's just to old for this generation!

Description is wrong

I bought this game solely for Millipede (which it does not have). My attempt to at least have the description corrected by using the feedback form seemed to be ignored so I am leaving this review. Needless to say I am displeased that I a) bought a game that I don't want and the shipping vs. price makes it a moot point to try and return it and b) had to buy a second game (+shipping) to get what I want.
