Fun, but frustrating

I really like this game but it takes a lot of planning. I am not sure that children under 12 can plan and manage the money necessary to stay solvent without some help. Of course some adults can't do that either. The fields and beaches are not open. I understood that you had to reach a certain level before they would open. There isn't much time to ride with all the animals you have to treat and when they are in hospital, you end up spending your resources without guarantee of getting paid. Sometimes all you can do is not enough and an owner takes the pet to another vet and doesn't pay you. It just needs to be a little more user friendly. also if you try to speed things up by holding the shift key and the arrow key Windows will complain bitterly and kick you out of the game. There needs to be another way to make her run...like you can do with the horse.

Pet Vet Review

I was tricked into buying this game because of the descriptions it gave on the box, it sounded like a lot of fun, but really all I did was throw away twenty dollars. The gameplay is slow and the graphics are terrible. When you treat animals, it's not like you can decide what to do about it, the computer just tells you what to do, so there's not much of a challenge in this game. Even though the box says it has over twenty cases, they are repeated over and over and it got so old. I wanted to treat all kinds of animals, but the game starts you out with hamsters and birds, and you have to pay like seven hundred dollars to take a class so you can treat just one animal. Overall, this game was a major disappointment.

Good Game, yet confusing

My 10 year old sister got this game. She says that she likes it, but when it comes to taking care of pet inpatients it gets pretty confusing because you have to treat and play with many many pets every day while you still have to earn your money as a vet, and in the end you spend a lot of the money you earn in medication for inpatients and the other patients. Sometimes you end up "stuck" in the game because you have to spend so much money for food and meds and you don't get to accomplish certain tasks that require you to save up a lot of money.

This is a fun game. But I found out that, to open the riding areas you need to download a patch from valusoft.com. It does remove all saved games.

I was looking at the Animal Hospital game and I was wondering if people would choose that one over Pet Vet? I don't have either game and I was wondering what game people liked more.
Please let me know!

This is a fun game, but...

I got this game for my birthday. It's a lot of fun. Yes, everyone is right: the riding areas don't ever open up. And it is a little bit annoying. However you still have the rest of the game to play with; that's just one little issue.

In the game, you have your very own veterinary office. You choose from three characters and you can change your outfits anytime you want. Your first customers are guinea pigs, rabbits, and budgies, but you can take lessons at the Academy about animals and get to work with more of them. Plus you can own your own horse, but they are VERY expensive. Money is not so hard to make, especially if you take out a loan and run an advertisement, then you get more customers.

My only complaint is, despite my daily care of my inpatients, occasionally the owner will come up and say, "My pet doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'm gonna go find another veterinarian. Bye!" And goes away without paying you anything.

Also, the Academy lessons are very expensive and I usually have to take out a loan to get a lesson.

However despite a few glitches this game is a lot of fun! If you are an animal lover I suggest that you get this game (as long as you are OK with the fact that you won't be able to go into the riding areas).

P.S. another fun game of a similar type is Paws & Claws Pet School. I have both of them and personally I don't think that Pet School is as fun as the Vet game. But they are both still great games!

Girls ages 8-12 adore it. Need fairly fast computer to run.

My daughter (age 8) and her friends and cousins love this game. They do have to do some planning ahead to keep themselves solvent. The game requires them to take "tests" to be certified to treat certain animals, and woe to the child who thinks they can pass the test without reading the material. Mine learned the hard way.
This does not run well on our older 900 MHhz computer (jerky motion, freezing up) in spite of the computer having all the required memory, speed etc as listed on the box. On our newer (year old) 2 GHhz it runs well.

Too Confusing!! The Riding Areas Never Unlock!!

This game was a total waste of money!! It's confusing and the vet has to run or walk everywhere. It takes forever. It's not easy to see and the animals never get better. One parakeet hasn't left for a whole month!!!! It's annoying. Don't waste your money on this game. Get Animal Hospital any day for a good Vet game.

Problem after Problem after Problem!!

I downloaded it onto my computer then it didn't work. The character ran in mid air!! The animals stay in the hospital forever and the food is too expensive!!
The horses never get better. It seems like you keep them forever!!!

Don't waste your money.
