Futurama, the game, stays true to the Futurama television show that's currently showing on Cartoon Network. The playable characters include Fry, Bender, Leela, and the infamous Dr. Zoidberg.
Futurama's controls are very simplistic and easy to learn, but most of the time when you jump, it doesn't seem quite as natural as in other games. The camera is also a nuisance. The camera moves with the character, but it sometimes doesn't move fast enough, causing you to die in some cases. The game can be addicting and even sometimes, frustrating. Each character has his or her own unique moves that keeps the game fresh and adds variety. There are 22 levels total and you'll be amazed how fast the levels go by.
The story is fantastic and the hilarity is there. There is 30 minutes of cinematics and ALL the voice actors from the TV show are back. The plot synopsis is that Mom has taken over Planet Express and she now owns 50% of the Earth, which makes her the supreme ruler. The planet express crew must stop Mom before it's too late.
The graphics are excellent, and the characters look remarkably alike from the TV show. The backgrounds are great and look exactly like they did on the show. Futurama fans will love running through the rooms and streets from the Futurama universe. The only problem is with Leela. Her hair color is a little different than before.
I absolutely loved the sound in this game. The sound in the game fits all the levels nicely. There's also remixs of the opening theme of Futurama which are always great. Like I said before, all the voice actors have returned. During the gameplay the characters will say a funny comment that relates to what you are doing, which adds to the comedic value.
The game doesn't have a very good replayability. Once you play a level, most of the time you don't want to play it again. The only reason to replay is that their are Nibblers scattered all throughout the levels that you need to collect. If you get all of them in that level, then you get extras, which include, music, cutscenes, and pictures.
To all Futurama fans this should be no question, YOU SHOULD OWN THIS GAME. For people that aren't as big of a fan, or never even hear of it (shame!), you should probably rent it or wait for the price to go down.

If "Futurama" were any other game, I'd have only given it three stars. But the creative staff managed to capture the comedy of the TV show so expertly that I gave it an additional star. The gameplay is solid, with some typical camera problems (it tends to drift slowly back to the default position after you adjust it). However, I've not had too many problems with the camera, and most of the platforming is well done; the only real problems I've had so far is the Sewer level with Fry and the Factory level with Bender. The game offers more extras than you can shake a stick at, too, which means that fans of the series are going to want to play the game the full way through.
Solid title, not a lot of innovation, but makes great use of the license. A must for any Futurama fan.

While not the best platformer in town, Futurama manages to sidestep the peg-warmer status usually reserved for licensed games with a fun mixture of addictive action, tough obstacle course maneuvering, and actual wit. In the game, you play three characters from the show, each with unique methods for clipping waves of space-age enemies: pizza-delivering poindexter Fry with laser rifles and shotguns, robot rummy Bender with spinning attacks, and cyclopean fist of fury Leela with lip-busting flurries of punches and kicks. Series creator Matt Groening reportedly oversaw the game's production, and barring frame rate stutters, a smooth blend of pseudo hand-drawn and computer animation combined with dead-on vocal work provided by the series' cast makes the game look and sound incredibly like the cartoon. But the game is not just a mere pandering to the toon's fans. The developers have managed to craft an enjoyable if lightweight ride here. Levels are short and sweet, backtracking and lever pulling are kept to a minimum, enemies are aggressive without being frustratingly tough, and the game moves at a solid pace. Then again, Futurama is not without its flaws, either. While button ninjas will find its platform leaping and jumping puzzles refreshingly challenging, those who aren't as hop-savvy and prone to controller chucking may want to invest in a replacement Dual Shock 2. Unfortunately, the occasional camera spazz-attacks don't help matters much, either. Futurama had a large cult following, and in many ways, it lives on through the game which logically progresses its look and feel. Fans should find the game a temporary salve for post-cancellation blues. Those not enchanted with the show won't be missing out on much by skipping it.

Dear shoppers at target.com, If like or even love Matt Groening's creation of the TV show, Futurama, then you will love this product. I ordered this product about May 12, 2004, and I got it May 15, 2004. Just to let you know, if you get frustrated real, and I mean real easy, consider rethinking. This game is fun, but it gets real hard. The music in the back round gets annoying if you are mad at the level. And DON'T EVEN TRY TO USE CHEAT CODES!!! You have to hold down the L1 and L2( for playstaion 2 only) until the screen flashes, and it takes a long time for it to kick in. I haven't tried because I've sat thier for a long time just holding and waiting for the screen to flash. Over all, this game is very fun and the things the characters say is pretty funny. Play as Fry, Bender, Leela, And Dr. Zoidberg as you save Planet Express from the evil Mom and her kill bots. See, Pro. F. sold the company to Mom's company, and that gave Mom power over 50% of Earth. If you like Futurama.........BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Futurama the game is a must for any fan. The game is very fun and addictive. If your looking for a good game buy this one. The action is intense. You start as fry and fry gets to use guns to defeat enemies. Then your bender and you get to use special moves to defeat enemies. Then your leela and you get to use special moves and fight. I got as far as going to the leela level. I don't really know but I think I get to play dr.zoidberg next because dr.zoidberg is a playable charachter. You get to unlock secrets every time you find and free all the nibblers in each level. There are lot's of extras to unlock. Sadly there are only 22 levels. The game is too short if your a hardcore fan. Some levels are huge and hard. The game is very fun and will satisfy a gamer's play. I recommend this game to every gamer.

This game makes absolutely awesome use of the Futurama licence. Everything that could be handled by Futurama's creative team is done perfectly: a great story told by hilarious cutscenes fully voiced by the show's original actors. I have never laughed so hard from a videogame. The enemies and heroes have many great quips during gameplay too (you come across a group of robot guards, and one of them yells 'Hey it's one of the good guys! Get Him!'). But the gameplay itself is bad. Control is loose, and there's far too much 3-D platform jumping (which, with bad control, is one of the worse things to ever be faced with). And the rest of it is fairly simple shooting with lock-on targeting. The game's music really gets on your nerves after a while. Graphics are decent, but still pretty blocky. You have to fight your way through several levels of that to get to another great cutscene. In short: there are games out there that play much much better than this, but you won't get the quality Futurama aspects. Hell, it's way better than the Simpsons games (though I haven't played Hit and Run yet), and that counts for something.

I see a lot of bad reviews for this game right now but I think that Futurama fans should go and get this game. Especially now that it's only 20 dollars. I beat the game in like a year because I stopped playing at one point then played again. Don't listen to the bad reviews this game is great. Some levels are really hard but you can always use cheat codes. You play as fry, leela, bender, and dr.zoidberg. I also have to say that the game is like crash bandicoot so if you like those kind of games then you most likly will like this game. The cutscenes are also very funny. The problem with the game is that you have to collect all the nibblers in a level to unlock stuff and to unlock cutscenes which sucks because it's sometimes hard to find them all and I would like to unlock the scenes after I win the level not after I win the level and collect all the nibblers. Also the camera is also very bad because it doesn't always follow you which may cause you to die. Anyways if you like Futurama go get this game!

Wow, this is a great gaame for ps2 based on the hit series
by Matt Groening. The game has all the voice actors in the game, and an original story to boot. There's over thrity minutes of
cinematics, the action is top notch and the laughs are over the top.
Futurama the game reunites the casts from this hit series, Billy West, Katey Sagal , John Di Maggio as Fry, Leela and Bender as they try to stop their evil mom who has bought out Planet Express and plans to rule the universe. She enslaves humanity and makes the earth into a moving killer robot reminiscent of Unicron from Transformers!! The graphics are really awesome, you also play through each characters collecting different items and foiling moms plan. All I can say is get the game if your a Futurama fan, you wont regret it.
A Must Have for Futurama Fans Who are also Gamers

I was very hesitant to check out this game when I had heard it come out... And I am a DIE HARD Futurama fan. It's almost a sort of rite of passage that in order to become a TRUE Futurama fan, you need to play this game (not necessarily finish it, but play a good deal of it)...
The storyline seems like it was a rejected episode idea- but apparently an idea good enough to make into a video game.
The gameplay is a LOT of fun- rather simple moves in such vast, demanding environments. The characters each have their particular gameplay so that once a level/character gets rather tedious to play, you either end up doing something completely different with the character (i.e. with Fry, instead of running around shooting at people, you hop into a chicken walker and rely on blasting all these robots to bits) end up finishing in time to play a new character with his/her own different moves/motives.
And moreover, It stinks to have to collect items besides "health items" along the way (i.e. Bender collects those jewels from the episode, "A Cyclops Built For Two"), but it's worth it to get the special stuff in the end.
Oh! And the environments contain little gags and quirks from the show, much to the delight of this veteran Futurama fan.
I doubt that anyone who wasn't a Futurama fan would truly enjoy this game, but it's an upbeat, light-hearted game. It's easy to get the hang of, but still takes a long time to play, even if you're a rather skilled gamer (let's just say it's not so easy to stay alive from time to time...). I wholeheartedly recommend this game for all Futurama fans and maybe to the gamers who also enjoy the Simpsons and sci-fi [spoofs].
It's like getting an extra episode of Futurama!

A full episode worth of cut scenes between the levels make it a must-have for any Futurama fan.
The game gets better and better as it goes along. Don't judge it based on the warm-up.
