I have to say that out of all the games I've played, this is by far the best game. I want more!! I really liked the way you can move the characters around. A lot of games put the camera on the first person and this makes me dizzy. This game is so much better. You can start the game a new and change things around. Really great!!

this has to be one of the worst games ive ever played. there is freedom to move around, but everything else follows a close script. there is no real shooting in the game which makes it far from the shooter catagory it was listed in. the story itself is hard to follow and not very great. dont waste your money. go buy frogger instead, it might be more of a challenge

"The writer's dog ate the last 10 pages of the manuscript" symptoms pull this game down to 4 stars

Because there's so few adventure games out these days, this could be the adventure game of the year. But if you try to compare it to games overall...it's an above average one that suffers from problems that get progressively worse as the game nears its end.
To cover the selling points: The graphics are more than good enough for the genre (I imagine it could've been better, but many adventure game players aren't "hardcore gamers" enough to buy the latest video cards), and the voice acting & music are superb.
The same can usually be said about the character animations, except when interacting with objects slowly; the interface for interacting with objects goes about halfway towards where it wants to be. It mostly succeeds in immersing the player, but if you take its selling point suggestion of "move the mouse/thumbstick slowly to feel like you're really performing the action," animation frame jerking suddenly becomes quite noticeable.

The big problems are with the plot. (I promise I won't put any spoilers here). The balance between player choice and linearity is handled very well for the first 4/5 of the game. But as the game goes on, a few characters are introduced (nothing surprising there). Of these new characters, one is a character you may have seen before, but paid little/no attention to, thinking "this character won't have much part in the storyline," when in fact that character has more influence than you thought; this naming of a previously-minor character is something I consider good writing.

By contrast, the character I have a complaint with is introduced equally suddenly, but has had no previous indication of participation in the storyline; this character jumps from being nigh-upon nonexistent to being as primary an influence in the game's endings as the player character.

By improperly writing in this character I have a complaint with, the makers of Fahrenheit are able to add at least 2 extra possible endings to try and get at the end of the game, but in doing so, they make *all* of the endings less plausible. It hurts the final impression of a game that otherwise deserves high praise for trying something different and (mostly) succeeding.

I can't stop playing

This is one of those RARE games that drew me in within the first 10 minutes and has me completely mezmerized. The point of view of many different characters being playable is outstanding. The 'character' of each person is unique and fleshed out so well you feel like you're dealing with real people instead of Pixels and polygons. The interface is unique and easily learned. The mix of movie and game are done in a seemless way i haven't seen since the original Max Payne. I have fallen hard for this title.
It is the most fun i have ever had with a PC game.I couldn't recommend this enough. Every PC gamer should have it.

This was the most intense and realistic video game I have ever played in my life. Both addicting and exciting, this is the most unique role-playing/action-packed mystery adventure out there. CSI and others got nothin' on Indigo Prophecy! I recommend this game to every video game enthusiast.

Best game I've played in a long time!

I really enjoyed this game! Intuitive, challenging, excellent voice acting. I sure hope they come out with a sequel. If you're looking for an adventure/strategy game that's fun and unique - here it is!

Totally original, a bit redundant, but still great

Ok, so I borrowed this game from a friend, not know WHAT to expect. But it was obviously good enough for me to buy it afterwards, and i DON'T usually buy games!

The game, overall, is pretty awesome. The whole consept of the game is completely original, especially the story line. I love how you can play as multiple characters, and you have to make all of your decisions for those characters in a limited time, making that part more realistic. The fact that you are playing as the killer AND the cops is rad! I mean, seriously, when have you ever played a game where you are literally chasing and trying to outrun yourself? that's right, you haven't! yet...

Let me back up... The plot starts as you in the bathroom of a diner carving strange symbols in your arms. There are random flashes of a man in a robe in a huge dark room lit with lots and lots of candles. You stand up, but not on your own accord, you can't control yourself! you step out of the stall and attack and kill the other man in the bathroom. All the while it's flashing the robed man doing the same attack movements as you (controlling you). Once you regain control you have to flee (in a time limit!) before the cops get there and can link you to the murder. After that, you are on the run, and are trying to find out EXACTLY what happened to you. On the other hand, as soon as the detectives arrive, you play as them, as well. You have to piece together the clues of the murder in order to apprehend... yourself!

All in all this game was so original and fantastically thought out, but I had to drop the rating down to a 4 (would give it a 4 1/2) because of the repetitive actions during the game. During all of the action sequences, you have to either rotate back and forth between your left and right buttons (A & D for me) to control breathing, raise strength, etc., OR do a "simon says" sort of thing using the A W S D and arrow keys to control your actions. during most of the game its pretty fun, but during useless times like dancing or other such things, i found it pointless and dumb. But, i can't speak against it because some may like that!

So, in closing, it is indeed a GREAT game, and i would suggest it to anybody that wants a good brain-tuner game! If you are unsure, take my route, and borrow it first! Happy gaming!

The best adventure game I've played in a long time

Having been spoilt for games after playing Grim Fandango I have been looking for a long time for a great adventure game that really immersed the player in another world and kept the interest going for the whole game. Indigo Prophecy was that game!

The tension starts right away with a murder scene in a diner. You take over as the murderer and race against time to clean up the evidence and make your escape. From then on you play two sides, the murderer trying to find out what possessed him (literally) to commit the crime and the cops trying to solve the mystery. Throughout the game you play several characters, all of who are very likeable. The storyline is fantastic, really intriguing and, at times, very thrilling.

The gameplay is great fun and adds a real unique element to the game. I didn't have too much trouble switching between the keyboard and the mouse controls, after some practice it become quite natural. However during the various impressive action sequences the user determines the success of the character by a combination of tricky 'simon says' type key strokes and mouse movements. When the character is doing something that requires some exertion, the user has to quickly hit the forward and back arrow, so you really feel like you are sharing in the effort. I think some reviewers felt that this distracted from the game, however I found that it added to it, getting all tense and excitable, joining in with the action. Very novel.

The only minor criticisms I have about this game is that it was all over too quickly (possibly because it was so good) and that in the last cut scene it would have been nice to see the characters in another set of clothing (it was supposed to be 3 months later....)!

The ambience of the game was top-notch and I thoroughly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a really well crafted third person adventure game and thriller.

One of the best adventure games ever!

Whoever said adventure games are dead, is wrong. All they should do is look at "Indigo Prophecy". Do you ever wish you could play something new, fresh, completely original and mind-blowing? Well, you needn't go farther. Just pick up a copy of this game.

This game is, simply put, unlike ANYTHING I have ever played before. And I've played a lot. It's not easy to talk about this game without giving away too much and thus spoiling the experience. But trust me when I say that the experience is truly unique. On the surface, you play a number of characters, primarily a fugitive accused of committing a murder he doesn't remember or understand, and two detectives trying to find him. There's a good deal of digging around for clues interspersed with some action scenes. Typical adventure game, right? Nope. It's anything but typical. This game actually uses your reflexes and physical attributes as part of gameplay. Sounds weird? It is, at first. But then you get so immersed into it that you feel almost like you're within the game, like you're one of the characters. The game makes you feel what they feel. Certain parts of it will make you very nearly physically and mentally exhausted. It requires concentration and effort. That has nothing to do with the controls being poor, but everything to do with their being unique. It is never frustrating or boring. And, you get engaging story and interesting characters to boot. The only minor thing that some may see as a flaw is that the story does have many plot holes. Many unanswered questions remain in the end. For me though, it wasn't a flaw. I enjoyed this X-Files-like uncertainly and the way it made me think and wonder about possibilities. And make no mistakes, the possibilities are almost endless. There are so many directions this game can take, depending on what you say, how you act, what choices you make.

But enough blabbering. Even if adventure games aren't your thing, give this a try. You'll be hooked within the first three minutes. Two thumbs up, up, waaaay up!
