Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure--review from a parent

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 15 / 15
Date: October 15, 2003
Author: Amazon User

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure is a fun game for the 6-12 crowd most likely. The game features tunes from Radio Disney and many fun characters including Buzz, Woody, Tarzan ,etc.

As a parent of two, and gamer myself, we all had fun playing the game. It takes a little practice to get used to the controls but exploring the enviroments (jungle, savana,Andy's room, etc) was fun. As other reviewers note, the game does take some planning ahead (ie. setting up for a grind or something to pull off trick, or getting to where you need to go). The game has little mini missions that allow you to unlock levels and skaters.

I recommend the game for the ages listed above. You may want to rent first before a purchase just to make sure it has lasting play potential with your kids.

Skate on!

My friend's parents rented Disney Skate Adventure for his youngest brother. We walked by as he was playing the game and laughing to himself. So we sat down to check it out. We were just watching him play but it looked like fun, and we wanted to try also. We ended up playing the game with him for a long time. The game plays just like Tony Hawk 4, but with characters from Toy Stroy and Lion King and Tarzan. It is a nice change to play a top quality video game that is also lighthearted and good for kids. The graphics are pure Disney quality, the goals and characters are funny and the music is not your standard Disney orchestra stuff - and that's a bonus. I plan to order a copy to my own collection, and I'd recommend it as a great gift for kids.

Tony Hawk meets Disney

The kids should really dig this game from Activision; most of them won't have any problem racking up high scores since they have played Tony Hawk a million times already. This game uses the trick/control engine from the popular Hawk series. Lots of levels, tricks, neat hidden stuff, etc. This title is worth the cash, for both the kids and their parental units.

Cool Idea

I'm an 11 year old and I'm a Tony Hawk fan! I think that this is a good idea. As you may know already, Tony Hawk is rated T, but it is a fun game. I think it was good of them to let smaller kids have some fun with it too, but not with all the bad language and stuff. My only complaints are that some of the challenges are extremely easy, but I guess that this game was mainly for younger kids and they might have a harder time with it. My other complaint is that some of the songs are too...I dunno. I'm not very "in" to all that music, but there were a few good songs in this game like the "where's your head whatever" song. I guess that the music was mainly for younger kids too. Anyway, this game is a great buy. If you have children who around 8 years old, they'll LOVE this game! Even I do.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

Bought this one over the weekend and the kids and I had a really good time with it. Graphics are great and it is challanging, but not too hard for adults!

It doesn't really matter if you're a girl or a boy. This game takes me back. It's based on the Tony Hawk engine and has the same feel as the Hawk games. How fun is it to skate around as Buzz Lightyear. Pretty fun, I tell you. To infinity and beyond. The animation and colorful worlds in this game are just incredible. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the Tony Hawk games. The goals are easier, but there are loads of challenging gaps and some interesting secrets too. I heard there is a giant squid in one of the levels.

Just too short

This game was an awesome idea but got put out too quickly. This game was great until I beat it on the second or third day. The characters were really fun to play with but had 5 or 6 easy objectives each. But even though the levels were short the create-a-skater was worth buying the game for. It was a fun game but I suggest waiting for the new Tony Hawk.

I got this game for Christmas. My only Complaint is that Lil' Romeos voice is like a normal edit kid. I thought that it would be Romeos voice. In Zurgs World it has a low gravity crater that is good for ollies and spine tranfers.

Fun game, and not too annoying to parents!

I rented this game for my 7-1/2 year-old son. He made faces at first but then played it solid. The graphics are fun, the challenges are at a good level for him. Hard enough to frustrate him a bit, easy enough that he eventually gets it and is proud of himself. I happen to like the soundtrack, having a dozen or so distinct songs is so much better than the usual repetitive "video game" sound. We turned down the voices and turned up the music.

My only complaints are (1) that the Disney character voices are not done by the original voice actors. Some of them are not even close. (2) The 2-player mode gets old really quick as you are just trying to beat each other's score, even with three games. It would have been nice to compete or team up for the games regular goals.
